One Daikon Three Ways! Pickled, Simmered & Pan-Fried

  • Daikon is a massive radish that can be used in a variety of ways! One daikon is so large that you can make multiple dishes with it! Here are three recipes I recommend giving a try. I’ll show you how to pickle it, simmer it with pork and pan-fry it as chewy daikon mochi. Hope you give one or all these recipes a try!

    Ingredients 3-4 servings:
    Pickled Daikon
    ⅓ daikon sliced
    10g shio-kombu
    1 ½ tsp sesame oil
    Simmered Pork & Daikon
    ⅓ daikon cut into wedges
    200g pork
    1 knob of ginger sliced
    2 tbsps each of soy sauce, sake, mirin
    1 tbsp of sugar
    1 tsp of dashi
    200 ml of water
    Daikon Mochi
    ⅓ daikon grated
    2-3 green onions chopped
    2 tsp of sakura-ebi (optional)
    1 tsp soy sauce
    1 tsp sesame oil
    2 tbsp of flour
    2 tbsp of katakuriko

    I need to learn how to make Mochi dango with that sweet miso sauce if you could show that one day! My last attempt was disastrous lol
