I bought the smaller Away bag, as well as the medium checked bag. I bought the smaller original sized carry on because I like to nest the smaller bag inside the larger one to save room in my closet.

What are the advantages of the regular carry-on versus the bigger one? Have you ran into any situations where you would prefer the regular over the bigger carry-on? My general feeling is that the bigger carry-on is the way to go. I sometimes fly to regional airports on smaller planes so purchasing the larger size seems sketchy, but I am guessing that I would have to gate check either bag anyways.

Why is there 3 min of a black screen? I think the only real debate people have on whether to buy the Carry-On vs Bigger Carry-On is whether we’ll run into issues at security/gates with not allowing the larger size on. If most airlines don’t care, then the Bigger Carry-On is a no-brainer. However I’m curious if the Bigger Carry-On does not fit inside the Medium? I’ll need to look into that; would help when storing.
So I made the “mistake” of buying the bigger carry-on and trusting Away’s claim that they fit the overhead bin/size requirements of most major U.S. airlines without doing proper research back in late 2019. With that being said, I’ve never had an issue with it not fitting in the overhead bin. In fact, there was usually 2-3 inches of extra space. But of course the down side to this luggage is it exceeds all the major airlines carry-on dimensions by a fraction of an inch. Since owning it and traveling for the last 3 years (I did travel for covid since I was on military orders at that time), never once have I been stopped to verify if it meets the carry on standard and that includes budget airlines. I think because it’s such a popular brand most gate agents know it’ll fit despite exceeding policy limits but unfortunately that is the main caveat with owning this bag is that you are at the mercy of your gate agent.
I heard that Air France is a little more strict with their carry on sizes and tend to spot the bigger carry on so they can weigh it in the hopes that it will be over the limit and would need to be checked in, or have passengers gate check. Have you experienced that? I’m just curious, I have both sizes but if it’s more of a gamble I’ll just bring my regular Away carry on than pay €€€. Thanks!

Have you found a good way to clean up the white shell? Magic Eraser? Etc? I am a sucker for white but not sure I'm willing to go there if it's being tossed around be TSA and I'm unable to bring it on as a carry-on.

I am a Flight Attendant and I commute. I am on the regional jets a lot. Did you say that the larger one WILL fit in the overhead of the regional? I have no problem with GA's as I'm in uniform.

I've been doing so much research on the AWAY suitcase, deciding if I want to spend the extra $20 for a larger carry-on, but also worrying if I might embarrass myself trying to fit the larger carry-on into the overhead bin. Does the large carry-on fit in regular Delta flights? Have you had any issues?
Yes either carryon will fit in the overheads. The flights you have to gate check will not accommodate any carryons

Since this video have you been forced to gatecheck the bigger carryon at all? Mostly thinking of the new Alaska size policy, where they actually created appropriately sized sizers (the bigger carry on is too big).

+Kevin Matthies I have the biggest away they make but it doesn't have battery built in so it's just giant well designed luggage. Having compression and hardshell is very nice on that size though

I was on 2 KLM flights with no issues
When I can remotely move these bags without touching them give me that story about great bags. Until then I'm using my cheaper version, save a couple hundred dollars and pay for my vacation, Jack Daniels and cab.

I saw the away luggage and It looked like a great product, but I tried to purchase the product and had an awful experience. It charged my credit cards multiply times I asked exactly what happened, but there was not real explantation for it. I still wanted to buy it in the end, but I asked if there was any compensation for the hassle of calling multiply banks to get my charges cleared and they said there is nothing they could do to help or even give a slight promotional discount. In the end I would still love to purchase the product, but the buying experience and talking with the rep left a bad taste in my mouth. :***(

Thank you for sharing. Great review. I am a luggage junkie :( The issues I have are flimsy handles The weight is terrible when you have to walk to far far away terminals (like next build over terminals). My dream luggage is the ride on luggage I don’t remember the name at the moment.
Oh and I mostly travel for work. I hate checking bags. So I need to be able to fit one months worth of clothing in my carry on (which Is the only way I fly).

I will taking a trip to Europe for a 14 day trip in July of 2019. I received the Bigger Carry On as a gift from my boyfriend for my birthday. I am a little concerned Air Canada won't allow it as a carry on. Any experiences? I only want to bring a carry on and backpack.
