Honestly, what I'm wondering is if they'll use this also in relation to other characters, especifically medusa. I know it could be meant to be taken in like a general sense, like "don´t judge a book by it's cover" and of course, luke; but honestly I would find it strange if they didn't also delve into the "not everyone who looks like a monster is a monster" and considering how she also asks him what makes him think medusa is a monster, maybe they'll have an interesting divergence there.

The first appearence of mitomagic was in the titan's curse. You are right cause Nico di Angelo played it for the first time in that book. Also it is the main reason Bianca di Angelo died. She wanted to get an action figure of it for her brother.
Which was also foreshadowing the reveal of the godly parentage of the Di Angelo siblings I think if they get new directors who will better portray the reveal that would be one of the best parts of the entire TV show

i heard someone say that casting big side characters like beckendorf is a commitment because you‘ll have to cast the same people for all the seasons and i can understand not wanting to commit to an actor by episode two for the next 10 years

I don’t know if you watched with subtitles, but with the friend that Luke has in Hermes Cabin, the subtitles name him as Chris Rodriguez. One of the demigods that joined Luke in the books.
But I overall I enjoyed the two episodes. There’s stuff to be improved but I’m still excited for the next episode.
The "your father is Poseidon" thing is an issue I have with the books too, because at first it seems no one knows which god and bla bla but the more you read the sequels, the more you realize that well...Sally knew who it was kkkkkk

I love episode 2 finally getting to see annabeth. I’ve seen so many people hating it when we only seen 2 episodes. We book readers of Percy Jackson the series got to remember that not everything is going to be accurate and is going to be in the show. That happens to any book that turns into a movie or show. We should be grateful of this show being more accurate than the movies. The only thing I could be complain about it is Gabe not being as bad as he usually would be. Can’t wait for episode 3.
Honestly, the only problem I have at episode 2 is that I feel like Annabeth could have had a little more screen time. I know it can't be exactly like the books, and I get what they were trying to do, but having an extra Percabeth conversation would have been nice.
Then again, Annabeth is my favorite character, so maybe I'm being a bit nitpicky
Gabe isn’t as abusive as he was in the books so it’s more family friendly. Though an idea I’ve seen on another comment is that Sally turning Gabe into stone could be justified by him calling Percy a fugitive. Idk.
The only nitpick I truly have, other than the implications of Gabe not being as shitty, is how the show sort feels like its speed running the main story beats. The characters get great dialogue but the episodes are so short and it pacing to be a shorter show with single digit episodes, so I worry about how jumpy the story will feel
Interviews have had the crew basically state that the beginning is quick because they wanted to get to the quest quickly, because that's really where the story really starts

I feel like if this show does well in its first season the other seasons may get a bigger budget and more time. But with the track that Disney is on right now, they wanted to take their time and hedge their bets especially because fox which is owned by Disney now already tried this and they made some mistakes. But at least they learned some lessons from that movie.
Also Gabe was too chill for my liking.

Council scene was a full on scene but it got cut. It was said by aryan simhadri in an interview
People complained a lot about Annabeth actress, but the main culprit to cut her off the scenes is the director. Where is she nursering Percy and talking to him, and even sharing some company? Her intro was stoic... And about Luke? Where's the charismatic, smart, popular guy? This character representation could not even managed a smile! And about Gabe? What was that?! THis is "by the book"? I dont think so.... Such a pity! Percy, Mr D, Sally and Clarice actors did very well. I don't blame the others cause probably it was a bad direction or bad screenplay...
i’m baffled that you didn’t think annabeth and luke were like the books, imo it was spot on. annabeth had that stoic, deadpan sort of intelligence to her, i especially love the exchange where she just answers yes to percy’s questions, it made me smile. it’s worth remembering that annabeth was with percy in the infirmary in the books because she wanted information, not out of care, and that same vibe is achieved here by her literally stalking percy. and luke was great; he was really warm to percy and the way he talked about annabeth was perfect. I think they’re both incredible tbh, the characterization is great
@@seguaye I disagree with you in the sense that Annabeth always act with dubious intentions. She likes Percy but don't let show too much. She take care of him by Mr Brunner orders and nursery him with sponge and evrthing (and yes trying to get info too -you are right) but the way she mock him and etc are much more heartly. And she make some company to him in the Camp. And this "close" perception is also what attract her to Percy (not in a love way, but in a beginning of a friendship). Yes Luke was warm to Percy, but far away to be a charismatic, communicative and charming popular guy. He almost didn't smile. Even Grove was insipid. But I'm not saying that this is a matter of bad acting (I liked the casting) I'm saying they were cut short. This is director doing or screenplay "bad adjustment". The school part was cut too much short. They loose too much time troubling Percy child explanation and Mr Brunner did not have the same appeal. Where''s the latin test? You know what I meant? Probably would be better if Gabe/Camaro part wass explained in the second episode. and poor Gabe... Make me longing Joe Pantoliano in the movie. LOL! But the Camp is OK I love Percy, Clarisse, Mr D... Even Sally ws amazing! In general way I am liking and I do hope will get better.
I think Annabeth was very out of character. She’s my favorite character of the series, and I never really thought of her as “stoic”. She was very calculated and pretty standoffish, but in the show she just seemed… apathetic? The thing I can’t get over is her shoving Percy into the water. And then when he gets claimed, she seems openly happy, whereas in the book she is immediately panicked(since Athena and Poseidon don’t get along). Aside from her appearance being wrong, she just didn’t feel much like Annabeth
I wasn't really getting Annabeth vibes from her personality, but maybe that will change as the series progress. I hope at least. Lukes acting bothered me, i never really liked Luke, but this guy made me dislike him even more. Gabe was not book Gabe, i found myself actually laughing at his lines which is not something that we should be getting from Gabe. I really liked Mr D, I think Chiron did a good job but I never got the feeling that him and Percy had a prior bond and relationship. I really liked Clarisse, she was cool in this and even though she's a jerk, i like the way she is being portrayed by the actress.
I noticed the Rick cameo pretty easily. Then again I was searching for details.
I’m a little nearsighted so I had to rewatch it and even then I’m squinting going like, oh yeah that is Rick I think.
The only real complaint i have is that they didn't have the 3 fates and the socks of death. I mean I get why they have to cut other scenes but this is an important plot point in later books. Also the pacing did feel kind of off. I reckon they could have had more scenes at chb. Also I love luke! The 'she's my sister and i'll always be on her side' bit was really good. I do hope the action gets better because like you said, it was a bit underwhelming

is it just me or is Luke really bothering you? Something about the way he says his lines just annoys me so much, personally i don't love Lukes acting in this. I can't tell if it's just his lines and he is trying his best, or if he is just saying them weirdly. Almost everything Luke said garnered an eye roll from me

Was the Minotaur wearing boxer shorts? I don't remember if it was in the lightning thief, but I remember a inner comment from Percy in the last Olympian of Percy impressed to see the Minotaur in full armor and asking himself if when he was chased when he was 12 he was pushed out of bed to chase him and that's why he was not in full gear at the time. Maybe it was a nod to that.

Kind of sad that the quest is happening already. There were a ton of side characters from the camp that I feel like didn't get enough time in the books. But with Chris Rodriguez being confirmed I still have hope.

i just realised the twins didnt appear
yeah i kind of hoped that they would introduce us to those small campers we got to meet in the books, but they were clearly jamming things in very quickly, so there wasn't room for people like Charles, Katie, and the twins. I like that they didn't make Chris a random person though, it is nice seeing a callback to the books and actually utilizing a character instead of a random new character. Chris was funny too!

I loved the eps! The only thing I'm a little worried about is gabe not being quite as much of a dirtbag just because I want him to have the fate he had in the books and not feel bad about it. Also like and hate they made Sally into less of a battered wife. It's great to see her being so awesome even against Gabe, but will miss the character development she goes through in the books. In the books she was so smart and tough, but had been downtrodden pretty much all her life since her parents died. She was a bit mentally fragile and was a victim. I loved the bit at the end of the first book where Percy now a hero, helps Sally make that first big step into becoming her own hero and saving herself, instead of treating her like a damsel in the myths and saving her himself. Kind of wonder how they're going to deal with the whole Gabe thing now.

I really liked the adaptation, and I loved the Percy and Grover dynamic. And when annabeth appeared in the second episode… perfection. Walker, Aryan and Grover are really talented, even tho some scenes were a bit underwhelming. Pretty good so far I’m looking a lot forward to the next episodes, I NEED more OG trio moments

I do wonder that, if they changed the whole Gabe being unemployed plot line in order to include Percy’s great revenge plot at the end, if they’ll have him be given the job at the electronics store during the period of sympathy he gets from the media because they all believe that he’s grieving the loss of his wife at the hands of his “murderous stepson”. They’ll give him a job where he’ll have to answer the phone, deal with all those affairs, and it’ll be reported on, so that way, Percy hears about him getting the job, and can still go through with his revenge plot.
there was a preview of episode 3 at the end after the credits! and I think all the changes were very welcome (for me at least) I think these are details that really aren't that important, and the series has been very cohesive so far

I think methyl magic was in the book, and yes, their narration stayed. Man! The soundtrack for the episodes was very very good, so thank you for sharing this video, and thank Rick Rudin and others for showing me episodes on Disney+. I just wish other streaming services headed to, as I do not have a DP account… DP is Disney+. Well, I have to take a little bit of that back, as some friends of mine, have a DP account, but I cannot sign in right now. Still loved the part where Percy says “why does there have a goat in your pants? “To Grover. “Oh, you didn’t tell her about me? You’re early, what is said by Sally. So I wonder why Sally knows about Grover, other than what’s being said in the book… I am reading to catch up… And everything else. Can’t wait to see Poseidon, but I guess that was Hades, talking, whenever you said “I’m going to kill you, “in a memory type sequence, I guess. The soundtrack sound like something that could be in a video game, so that would actually kind of cool if they kept it and used it as such. Thank you again for sharing, and whenever I can, I’ll keep up with this series. Of course, I do know the difference in fiction and reality, and that’s that. Of course, I also know what God deserve… Jesus Christ, not Zeus, Poseidon, Hades. After all, they are aspects of God, not God himself. As Karen said in the books, “ 2:11
About Sally sitting in the rain: first of why would anyone not want to sit in the rain?! Have you been in the rain, cause it is one of the best feelings ever. Also, as with a lot of other domains in Greek mythology, storms/rain fall under multiple gods, including Poseidon, showing her (and Percy’s) connection to the God of Seas. I like the fight with Percy 1v3 with Clarissa and her lackey’s, I thought it did a good job showing his inherent proficiency at swordplay, while showing he is untrained. Outside of that, the fights so far are no shorter than they are in the book, Percy takes out Alecto in one swing, the Minotaur fight is pretty short too. It definitely felt a little rushed, but overall doing a very good job.
The real problem was that it was only 38 minutes for the first and about 40 for the second episode. It was too rushed and not given enough time. For that much info, they needed at least 20 to 30 more minutes on at least the first one.

While I definitely do like the choice to give Percy's dynamic with Luke more, it seems like an odd choice that the trio that's been the entire face of promotion doesn't have a single scene all together for the first 2 episodes (around 83 minute total runtime)
That's probably why the episode focused more on Luke and Percy than the trio all together. They have plenty of time to show the trio's dynamic in the following episodes, but this is the only chance they have to make us care about Luke.
I’m really looking forward to episode three because we’ll get to see the trios dynamic!

For me I think that when Annabeth said "You Drool when you sleep" it was too underwelming. I just feel like she was nott being sacractick enough or Annabeth enough. I love the Series with all my little heart, but I thought it was underwelming. I love Annabeth and the episodes too!!!

I am so disappointed! There were as many inaccuracies in the episodes as the movie!
These made me the maddest:
1) The Name Drops: did he forget that names have power? They said the gods names every other line.
2) The action was way too fast and way too easy: i.e Ms. Dodds and the Minotaur
3) The Capture the Flag: it wasn’t engaging at all. And Annabeth pushing him into the lake? What was up with that.
Not a good start, but I have hope for the future episodes.

Bruh y'all really like this series, like acting wasn't good(especially grover), editing/writing, as said in the video, they were some random cuts which I don't think makes sense and THE BIGGEST BUMMER FOR THIS SHOW is the scene where poseidon claims percy, in the book it was so dramatic( atleast for me) BUT the show didn't do justice for that scene it was just a trident floating above percy's head, they didn't use the clouds WHY???
