- Three people recently died when a bolt of lightning struck in a park near the White House. A fourth person was critically injured.
Weather officials said it had been nearly 20 years since three people were killed by a single lightning bolt, but like this time and in 2004, victims had gathered under a tree for shelter.

I remember back in 1981 when I worked at Circus World as an audio and lighting technician and a storm rolled in and one of my co-workers who was 6'5 and I were walking down to shut down the amps at the Aqua show. We were going down the main ramp in the rain and a lightning bolt struck the light post next to us and knocked us both down.

Don’t hide under a tree, don’t be taking a shower because lightning can radiate through plumbing. Get inside.
@@mikew.to1 I learned the plumbing part from my mother. She learned it from people in Utah. They have a lot of lightning shows in the mountains of Utah. Also in the Little House on the Prairie books there are good tips. Live in a shanty not in the open. Ball lightning can also come in your house and zoom around. Crazy stuff.
One time I was struck by lightening but I was so tough I grabbed the bolt and threw it back into the sky and said "Try again"

I was trapped in a lightning storm in Germany and luckily I found an overpass tunnel.

I was once caught in a storm. I ran indoors as fast as I could. However, I was still not safe as my family was watching Greased Lightnin on Tv.
I always admired Ben Franklin, but I heard growing up from people that wearing rubber soul shoes keeps you safe and being in cars because tires are rubber. Is that true?

What if you are stuck out in the middle of a field for example me and my brother were fishing we had to walk across a field to get to the pond but a storm just came out of nowhere one minute it was sunny the next pouring down rain luckily it wasn’t a thunderstorm but man if it was we would have been toast

One of the consequences of the Grand Solar Minimum is increased positive lightning strikes this along with the increase in hail as in the time of Lewis and Clark which measured the size of soccer balls will be our future especially where the jet stream meets hot and cold. Somehow so speculate that the shifting magnetic poles and weakening magnetosphere also has a role to play in this phenomenon. 🧐
