- Medicom continues to knock their MAFEX DC Batman Hush collection figures out of the park, this time with Catwoman. Very, VERY artist specific but if there's any artist I'd like to have an action figure line based around, it's Jim Lee.

I'm someone who has for the most part stuck to regular retail figures, mostly because $, but dear god I actually sprung for a Mafex figure this week. Put in an order with BBTS for the black/grey Dark Knight Returns Batman. Kinda wanted just a regular-ish Batman, and I like the thiccness of TDKR Batman and the design in general, so that's gonna be my Batman to end all Batmans.
You're better off just going to Amiami or hlj for these figures. Bbts charges way more than they should be
@@fillerbunnyninjashark271 For one thing, that Batman is not currently available from either of those sites, from me just checking now. I'm definitely also not going to be making a regular thing of buying these import figures. but moreso, I'm located in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. BBTS is located, like just under an hours drive east of me, just over the stateline in Wisconsin. Their flat-rate shipping gets to me in a day, 2 at the most. I'm willing to pay a bit more just for the convenience of that.
@@CandGoods dhl from Japan will get you it in about the same time for less overall. But if you'd like to spend more money that's on you.

Brilliant review as always! Wasn't planning on getting Catwoman, but this video just made me realize: What the hell was I thinking??? Of course I need to pick this up since I have Bats and Supes, even if it means a hunger strike. Hahaha I loved the comic run. One of the best stories, in my opinion, especially 'Heart of Hush'. Highly recommend you read the Hush storyline. 😁
Great review Robo! I got mine yesterday but I didn't notice that the whip was articulated. I like the rope belt midsection too, breaks up the black like you said.
Yup, just adds a little color in a drab looking look. Plus belts should have the belt part of the belt, haha!

I really like Mafex figures but it feels hard to justify the price point for this figure considering how "plain" it is. Miles was the same price and came with cloth goods, multiple hands, feet, heads and web effects. If this was in the $60 range I think it would be good but but $100 I can't see the value.

YES. Definitely wanna build that gatefold cover poster from the 2nd volume of Batman Hush. That's my main goal in collecting these lol. We now have Batman, Catwoman & Superman, along with Joker & Hush on the way. But for the poster we just need Nightwing, Robin, Huntress, Oracle & Commissioner Gordon. But I'll settle for Robin & Huntress first lol. You can fudge kitbashes of Oracle & Gordon pretty easily & the DC Icons Nightwing still holds up pretty well.
I didn't get into Icons until they were cancelled so I missed Nightwing. He's high on my list, along with all those others.
@@TheFwoosh Same on my end with Icons. I couldn't resist and paid ebay prices for a loose (yet complete) Nightwing. I spent more than I wanted, but my Nightwing & I are very happy together lol.

I’m pretty late to the Mafex Hush line but even though I paid a pretty premium for this Catwoman,
I’m caught up with the line with Nightwing and Harley Quinn on preorder. Thank God for BBTS with the Sup reissue.
Hush is a pretty basic Batman story, but it’s a great intro to most of modern Batman. Jim Lee’s art carries it, though.
Yeah, even when I got into DC later I always figured it was popular more for the art.
She came out solid and looks like she lives up to the images.

Don't watch the animated movie called Batman Hush. It is Batman Hush in name only. There are many changes made to the story that ruin the story. Sometimes changes are good, when they improve the story. But the changes made for that movie are terrible.
If you insist on watching the animated movie, please read the actual comic book first. The Hush story line has been released in trades multiple times. It shouldn't be hard to find.

@@houseofmmm The original hush comic book is great. To be fair Jim Lee's artwork probably plays a heavy role in the perception of that story. So it's a little harder to indifferently judge the story itself without thinking of Jim Lee's artwork. But in regards to the animated movie, you can 100% say that the story and the changes made to it for the animated movie make a worse story.
Like Gotham by gaslight. The original comic book story is not that great. But the concept is great. So when the animated movie came along and made changes. The changes they made improved on what was already there. And were changes for the better.
With hush, the changes they made were for the worse.
I don't want to spoil anything. But Hush not even being actually Hush!?!?! Like come on. That statement doesn't spoil anything unless you've actually read the comic.

Would have loved if this figure came with an alternate 'kissing' head for both Bats and Selina. They could be sculpted together locking lips so that you could re-create 'that' image from the comic. 😂
Anybody know how this would scale with Mezco figures? Specifically their Sovereign or Ascending Knight Batman. I don't really like their Catwoman very much

Honestly, I'd take most DC characters in this style and this quality. They can go on for as long as they want as far as I'm concerned.

I only have two MAFEX figures, the episode 6 Boba Fett which I love, and the Marvel comics Carnage which I would love if not for the left shoulder/bicep joint falling out when posing it sometimes. That was enough for me to be done with MAFEX, for the price that shouldn't happen and literally every time I even look at the figure that issue creeps into my mind and make me not want to touch it, which sucks since everything else about it is the best Carnage figure ever made IMO. Plus being a collector of so many other lines (and it being even harder to get MAFEX figures in the UK) it's just too steep a price for me to go any deeper into, and even then I was never really into it, since I was given Boba Fett as a gift a few years ago and picked up Carnage this year, so I guess I was already keeping away. Still I've got nothing against their figures, I don't hate any of them and I'll admit they mostly look amazing, it's just too big a bullet to bite for me. Great review as always Robo.

DHL can be black magic sometime. I had a package show up from HLJ in two days once. Freaked me out.
It's insane. I once had a DHL package hit the US from Japan in a day and a half, go over to Belgium late the second day for some reason, then land on my doorstep the day after that. STILL faster than a lot of domestic packages.

Probably the worst "popular" Catwoman designs, which I will always at least partially attribute to starting the trend of "real-world" or "practical" superhero costumes we see so much these days. Glad they're returning to her more classic look.
That said, a really fantastic-looking and well-engineered figure. It's not everyday that the slimmer, mostly female Japanese import figures can hit that sweet balance between highly-articulated and aesthetically pleasing, but this one really does look like a solid figure that hits on all points.
I can kinda see that, it really is fairly plain, but for some reason it's my favorite. Maybe because it's so minimalistic? Just bare necessities for what is needed to make it a Catwoman costume.
