HIGHWAY 1 SCENIC DRIVE [NORTHERN] | CALIFORNIA PACIFIC COAST

- On this day (December 2018), I drove through the Northern California Pacific Coast of Highway 1. Driving across the coast line is one of the world’s most celebrated routes touring though the Rocky Creek Bridge, Castle Rock Viewpoint, Brazil Ranch, Hurricane Point View, Sea Otter Refuge View Point, and Grimes Point Scenic Overlook just to name a few. This trip can begin anywhere South of California traveling north to beach towns, through urbane Santa Barbara, and then north to Big Sur. There are more beaches and attractions in Carmel, Monterey, and Santa Cruz, however, the ultimate goal was San Francisco. The California State Route 1 (SR 1) is a major north-south state highway that runs along most of the Pacific coastline of the United States. At just over 650 miles (1,061 km), it is the longest state route in California. This All-American road was a great driving experience and would recommend this road trip.

I’m from England. Took my first ever trip to California last year. Flew in to LAX, picked up a car (not like in GTA, lol), spent a few day in the city and then drove up the PCH to Monterey. I’ve gotta tell you, I’ve never seen anything like it in all my life. We drove clear across country, up to San Francisco, through the Sierra Nevadas, through the desert to Vegas and through AZ and NM. We finished in Chicago where we flew home three weeks later, but truth be told....I’m still driving that PCH. I come to videos like this to remind me what I’m missing and hopefully where I’ll be coming back to in 2021.

osufann69 Best trip of my life. When I think back to driving those roads through California and then out into the desert I feel at peace. Think I need it again. This year’s not been the best and I think I need a bit of that peace. Don’t we all, though.

I live in the bay and have done this drive many times. I must say it's nice. Must say I prefer the scenic route over 101.

We all only have one life to live. During the course of the time you inhabit this earth, you owe it to yourself to make this drive. Not just from Malibu and the central coast, but north of San Francisco up to Leggett as well. Those who say utopia is not for this world have never driven on the PCH.

Thank you for this, I enjoyed it so much. Although it's been 42 years since I drove this highway (from Santa Monica to Leggett in 1979) I still think about it often.

Money shots: 24:50 , maybe 30:21 and 45:00 and 55:06 . Besides those, this video would be better if edited to show at high speed until about minute 59 and perhaps also some of what followed, because it was repetitive. I like 1:14:03 and 1:33:47 ; I wish I could stop and visit those. Also 1:38:56 and 139:17 . Thanks for posting this.

2nd best thing we did in our trip to San Fransisco is drive north on this beautiful highway. #1 was walking Muir Woods.
The highway trip is more dangerous/nerve racking coming south on the highway since you are on the outside lane. You can see crosses at several points along the way, where I can only guess people have died/drove off the side. Care must be taken in driving this road, and is not for the faint of heart.
Great video! I live in Canada and drove the coast Highway 3 times but do not have a recorder. I finally bought a GoPro and booked hotel/flight 2020 Easter weekend but the pandemic cancelled everything lol God bless you!
