Riggins & Namath are both legends. There’s film of guys not taking down Namath hard. It’s incredible. Much respect for both.

You should have Namath on more often. So many great stories!

Riggo was just a tremendous unique ballplayer, and he should have stayed with Jets forever. If the Jets' coach or GM would have sat Namath down, and said, "Joe, this is going to be Riggins' team, and we are going to throw off the run." It would have saved Namath's knees, made for a better Namath career, and quite possibly won another Super Bowl.

You read my mind they could have built a great team around those 2. Pre injury Namath was an amazing passer

Joes knees were pretty shot before Riggo got there, even with Joe they would have had a very uphill battle getting past the stacked Dolphins machine. Would have been fun to watch though.

Saw Riggens and Namath play for the jets at Tiger Stadium on Thanksgiving of 1972.

Briggs Stadium. My uncle had season tickets. Man, Jets at Lions in 1972 would have been interesting, just three years into AFC-NFC.

Riggins is great! I know a guy who hailed from Kansas. He saw Riggins run in Kansas Relays and win 100 yard dash as a high schooler. Riggins also set the all-time KU school record for rushing yards with 2659, breaking the record once held by fellow Hall of Famer Gale Sayers. He now stands as the school’s fifth leading rusher. He earned high school All-American recognition in football, all-state honors in basketball and twice won the Class B 100-yard dash state title!

Riggins really deserves to be an announcer on Monday or Sunday Night Football, instead of the boring, highly aclaimed bland announcers that are on.

I'm glad he's not debasing himself by broadcasting for that shell of a football league.
But I agree, he'd be twice as good as the guys doing it

Riggings left the Jets as Namath called the plays and he would get maybe 15 carries a game.

Namath from an era where quarterbacks actually were quarterbacks. Called their own plays.
