Great books. The Carlson's Guide to Landscape Painting taught me so much, and the section on making light look bright was revolutionary for me. Another two I can highly recommend is Color and Light by James Gurney, as well as Alla Prima II by Richard Schmid.
I'm a landscape painter and I've got both those books. In fact nearly every serious painter I know has got them. Over the years I've bought and borrowed hundreds of books on painting, but I only ever needed about 6 or 7 of them and these are two of the best.
The first one, yes, but the second one? The journal of Eugène Delacroix should be the other one to read. Also, the three volumes of Van Gogh's letters! I know it is a lot of reading, but it is worth it.
@dev null It is not what I recall. Of course, it is not complete because on his way home, he left quite a few pages of it on a coach . There are probably different editions. Look it up at a library near you.
A question regarding the Carlson book. I'm interested in improving my DRAWING of landscapes and have almost zero experience in painting, but am also very interested in getting into it. Will this still help me?

Yes goes into great details and depth and probably would help with drawing. A difficult read though.
