Quantum Furnace is super cool! From the looks of it, you've increased electrical efficiency by preheating scrap thus decreasing heat to charge temperature differential, decreasing tap-to-tap times by "priming" the next charge, and greatly reduced times to change vessels. Really fascinating work!

Lol mayan didn't have access for iron yet. It was aztec, but even then, their technology was still at infancy. They made use of iron's magnetic characteristics to induce controlled ferroresonance, which in turn cause the molecules to line up into specific orientation. Then by exciting the synchronized protons, they forced each adjacent atoms to recombine into higher order. While interesting, this method was inefficient, and even creates final waste in the form of gold. That's why they quicky exhausted their ore supplies. By the time conquestadors came, the aztecs no longer posses iron but tons of scrap gold

I can imagine the water cooled hopper will spring a leak eventually with all the scrap thrown into it. However the vessel exchange using the ladle car is really clever.

How are you taking care of ladle break out during tapping or on ladle transfer car ?

Sounds great more fully automated, I'm sure steelworkers will love this. Now you just need robots to maintain it.

Awesome! Who hadn't noticed the decline of Old Electric Steelmaking. I mean, it was clear to all his best days was behind him. Primetals just had to step up one of those days, circulate some fresh air through the mill and evolve the Electrical Steel industry. Much compliment for greatly randomized selection, Algorithm! And that while it's _waaay_ past bedtime...
Oh, how I long for wonderful moments like these when Algorithm puts on his knitted sweater, lights his pipe, and starts reading us stories about Belarussian Steelfactory's slack removal railroad trajectory, the importance of Culverts and shows pictures of Amazing Modern technology machines Inter-drain pipe plow while we gather round the tube with a cup of hot chocolate! Truly special to be able to have such an intense bond with Algorithm.

At the start, why have a crane that picks up the scrap and lowers it into a bin, then have the bin go up a slope and unload it... just have the crane do it. Why have 2 jaw like teeth above the furnace when a sliding floor (still with holes for venting/heating) is much simpler and stronger?

How is high levels of rust mitigated so that the bound O2 doesn't cause a flash when dumped in? Does the pre-heat "burn off" the rust somewhat?

You'd likely have humans for supervision and slag reduction/proportioning
Not a steel engineer, but I do forgery in my backyard and that steel escape via tilting by 4 degrees is cool.
