Gotham Knights is an upcoming action role-playing game developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. It is set to be released on October 21, 2022, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Inspired by the Batman: Gotham Knights comic series based on the DC Comics character Batman and his supporting cast, the game focuses on the characters Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood as they attempt to restore justice to Gotham City during a period of decline in the immediate aftermath of Batman's death. While investigating Batman's disappearance, the heroes come into conflict with the Court of Owls, a secret society that is as old as Gotham itself, and their legion of brainwashed assassins called Talons.
Gotham Knights is an upcoming action role-playing game set in an open world Gotham City.[2] The game features four playable characters: Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood. Each character has their own unique playstyle and abilities,[3] such as Robin being able to teleport via the Justice League's satellite.[4] Players can level up their characters, but enemies will be automatically leveled up as well.[5] They can also use vehicles such as the Batcycle to explore the city.[6] During the daytime, players will occupy the Belfry, which acts as the team's base of operations and allows players to switch characters and prepare for the next mission by managing progression, and upon leaving the Belfry, the game will fast forward to the nighttime.[7]
While the narrative campaign can be played solo, the game also features a two-player cooperative multiplayer mode, wherein the second player can drop in and out at any time without affecting the other one.[8] A separate four-player cooperative mode named "Heroic Assault" will be introduced in November 2022. In this mode, players must battle enemies in an arena-like environment while completing various objectives.[9]
The game is set in Gotham City after the deaths of Bruce Wayne / Batman (Michael Antonakos)[10] and Police Commissioner James Gordon, which has resulted in a rise of crime and police corruption.[11] Players assume the role of four of Batman's former protégés-Dick Grayson / Nightwing (Christopher Sean),[12] Barbara Gordon / Batgirl (America Young),[13] Tim Drake / Robin (Sloane Morgan Siegel),[14] and Jason Todd / Red Hood (Stephen Oyoung)[15]-as they attempt to continue his legacy by protecting Gotham upon receiving a pre-recorded message from Batman.[16] During the game, the heroes encounter several supervillains, including the Court of Owls, Mr. Freeze (Donald Chang),[17][18] Harley Quinn (Kari Wahlgren),[19] Clayface (Brian Keane),[20] and Penguin (Elias Toufexis).[21][22] Supporting characters include Bruce's former butler Alfred Pennyworth (Gildart Jackson)[23] and Police Captain Renee Montoya (Krizia Bajos),[24] one of the few honest cops left in the city.[25] - Hry

I'm just so tired of seeing enemy health bars and damage indicators, the game would look a lot better without them
Exactly. Even in an fps like call of duty in hardcore mode has a hud and indicators and stuff. I used to play hardcore to get rid of the hud. I hate health bars and damage numbers in realistic games. It's cool in dead cells or Hades because of what they are, but a realistic 3d combat game where everybody has a red bar officer their head just looks weird.

You can turn off literally all of those from the settings menu.
Right when I seen crafting materials I was like "oh...no thanks" which really sucks...this clearly has so much potential to really be its own new thing.
All they needed to do was make an Arkham game but with these characters instead of batman

It's very fun the crafting materials and gear crafting is like supplemental it's still a really good game even if it feels off at times, the combat and story are solid

Just so you know Kurt Langstrom is The Man-Bat which is one of Batman legendary villains and antihero.
As a dude who works at gamestop I get so excited when people come in asking about Gotham Knights and we get to tell them that the game is getting mixed reviews and cant even run a solid 30fps on console, the game was very poorly optimized even with a day one patch, and they ended up canceling the last gen versions of the game saying “They want to focus on next gen” just to have the next gen version also not look or work the greatest, honestly they probably dropped the last gen versions because they couldn’t get the engine to run more than 10 frames on last gen, and whats worse is the game does not look good enough to warrant all these problems. We had more people come in to cancel their pre orders rather than pick them up. The games really not that great, like its just a downgraded version of the Arkham games and The newer Spiderman games, and yes you can absolutely compare the games because they have very similar combat and world exploration it’s just Gotham knights does it the worst. I ask if you guys want to explore a good version of Gotham then just play the Rocksteady games instead of this super low effort cash grab.
Red hood is by far one of if not the coolest DC character.

Batman Arkham Asylum on PC for a Replacement Launcher which opposes more options / fixes, offers higher rez shadows, you can use ReShade MXAO for proper AO, there is a HD texture mod available and so there is a 4K AI upscale FMV mod.
It's a great experience playing the game turned up.

the arkham games were one of my top two favourite franchises so i was excited for this. ive played for about 6 hours and it just doesn’t feel right. feels more like marvel avengers with a batman skin than a batman game
but i have been enjoying the story so far. i agree with you on the learning curve with the combat. took me way too long to figure out how to evade

I know what you mean concerning it feeling like Marvel Avengers. The game doesn't feel right at all. Also, from what I have seen, the gear / loot system is horrible. Also, the game looks nowhere near good enough to warrant the 30fps cap on consoles. Hurrah for horribly optimised games, I guess.

Unpopular opinion I guess but I thought GK was pretty good, especially after playing all the way through I can't believe that anyone being super negative about the game actually finished it. The customization, it's not super grindy - they give you crafting materials out the ass and crafting itself is simple, unique voice lines/cutscenes depending who you play as, the abilities, unique traversal for each character, it's all so fun. My only wish is that they had a couple more villain side stories

The only positive thing about this game are the visuals and tbh they aren't all that impressive, you check the PC recommended specs and then look at the game and you'll understand that this has a shit show of an optimization

Game doesn’t look bad the RPG elements and optimization definitely do look bad. I was very excited about this game but when i saw multiple reviews (mostly none sponsored ones) i saw the same patterns of it being like avengers and how the game forces you to grind just to do other things. Sure you can have fun with this but it’s definitely not worth the insane 70 USD they’re charging for it. I’ll get it once its been properly optimized for next gen and on sale. I love Batman and the Bat Family but this game just looks lime another bland open world RPG with the Batman license.
If WB spent the money used to promote this game, via influencers on the actual game itself we would have gotten a much better game
I really wish we could get a green arrow game with this type of vibe, could have other characters to play like lucifer, or Constantine, speedy etc
This game inherits the Arkham game play, and the thing about Arkham is that it's all really just Batman fighting goons. The other characters are just minor variations on that core game play. What made it great is that it was polished, balanced, and layered with more and more mechanics over four games.
If they did a game with Arrow, Lucifer, Constantine, they'd have to invent not just one, but three completely different kinds of game play from scratch. Not just different combat styles, but different game genres. Green Arrow is a combat character, but Constantine is a sorcerer, and Lucifer is, well... I can't even imagine what kind of game you could make around someone so OP. Certainly not just a brawler with stealth. You put Lucifer in an Arkham game and he'd just stroll around turning everyone into pillars of salt or something.
So you'd have to find a game format that challenges all three characters equally, and for obvious reasons, combat wouldn't do it. Maybe solving mysteries. But you'd still be developing a whole combat system for just two characters, Arrow and Speedy, while Constantine would need a whole magic system, and Lucifer would need... well, basically a reason to give a damn. So I can't even begin to imagine what game would make those characters interchangeable. Though I'd be curious to see it.
