  • A lot of folks say sometimes they just wanna see me hang out in the woods and talk and spend time together. I did that in this video and decided it was a good time to set up and show how I do my outdoor kitchen and grill.

    The Coffee shown in this video is made by a company thats name is pronounced Roast-er-ree. As a funny story, when I first got this coffee I had to practice pronouncing the name for three days to get it right. When the day of filming came, I slipped back into my old southern self and pronounced it wrong even after three days practice!

      Ha ha ha! Awwww! Don't worry about it. I am glad you loved the coffee! When I make a pot of it, I use four rounded scoops in my ten cup coffee pot and it is always very dark. I did notice, as you mentioned in the video, it looked pretty light in the video. Maybe just the difference between percolator and coffee maker I guess. MORE IMPORTANTLY, your little stuff like that (the Roasterie mistake) is what gives you and your videos more character and makes them even more fun! Basically, keep screwing up the small stuff because if you don't do it, someone else is bound to do it for you! HA HA HA HA! J/K but on a more serious note, we love the little screw ups like that, they're so funny! And that is 'part' of what makes you a "really big monkey" :) God bless! Glad you loved the 'Rotisserie' coffee, I just hope it didn't taste like chicken! :-)

    • @Reallybigmonkey1
      @Reallybigmonkey1  Před 7 lety +15

      Oh I loved it! I'll state it like my mentor did. A coffeemaker is more like a "dribbler" It dribbles the hot water through the coffee grounds one time. A percolator recirculates the water/brewed water through the grounds multiple times getting all it can out of the beans. So it usually doesnt take quite as much with a percolator as with a drip brew. Oh, if screw ups is what makes me big then Im on my way to being the biggest there is! LOL.

    This is one of the most informative bushcrafters on CZcams! He also addresses concerns. I brought up a concern about cordage hanging around your neck and he addressed it very satisfactorily. He made people aware of the hazard and that's all I asked. It's like seatbelts in a car, you're aware of the situation, how you handle it is up to you.
    Dave, I was watching this with my wife and you began talking about this and I actually got excited! Lol, I told my wife "he's talking about me"!
    You just increased my respect for you as a "teacher" ten fold my friend. I never expected to hear anything more about that.
    I really enjoy your videos Chef Dave, great idea on the table grill and I could almost smell the coffee!
    Once again thank you for your videos-

    also... the chair is upside down... the pockets go at your back and the seat pocket that holds a tarp is the seat reinforcement... also its designed to be tied to two or 4 trees and is water proof canvas!!! in case people wanted to know... and I might sell them but its more of a hobby to make cool stuff than to profit from them... plus I'm not a mass produce type of person... I love small time hand made creations and companies... but thank you David for showing off my gift to you... your my BC guru... I had to share that idea with you...😊😊😊

    Once again, Dave, you succeed in touching the heart and soul of life's great moments: a cookout on a hand-hewn log table with sausage, oatmeal, and gooooood coffee. The only things I would've added is a pat of butter, a dollop of jam, and a little evaporated milk to the oatmeal. It's what I survived on for breakfasts my entire childhood since my folks had to get up way before sunrise and head off to work leaving me to my own devices for breakfast. Many thanks, Brother.

    Like you, I don't like my coffee or food to be very hot. I often have to keep the waitress from refilling my cup, because it just got drinkable.

    Excellent safety tip about ANY cordage worn around the neck. No different than "working men" should not wear their wedding ring when working in certain jobs. I liked the gifts that you got .... good subs and friends!! For anyone who wants to set a fire in a bowl ...you can get large dog bowls made out of stainless steel with flat bottoms these are good if you are cooking on the ground and a small baking grill on top works well ..... atb brother .... Now is the time of year that many NOBO A.T. thru-hikers are starting their journey at Springer Mountain. I'm envious of them all,.. how far is that from you?... Again, thanks for inviting us into Cafe Pearson for a sampling of Chef Dave's culinary delights !! Lol... Ok then, stay healthy, thanks for the smiles,and God bless brother...CHEERS !!

    I've been sitting at home, figuring out the product to water ratios, to get it down to MY serving size. I go for one cup of water plus product. One favorite is oatmeal, raisins and brown sugar. You have my coffee pot. I replaced the handle so that it would nest. That was no good so it put it back. Now I ditch the innards and found a 2+ cup can that I can use it as a small kettle or bowl. A wind shield, scrubbie, plastic coffee cup and silicone pot gripper fits inside. You saved me much thinking about a clever cutting board. Milk jug plastic, fantastic! You look way too comfortable in that chair. Good thing you did that last. "Dave tries new chair" followed by you sleeping till the battery goes dead. I ain't there but I kin smell the coffee! CM

    Always like the DIY Dave! Reminds me of my old troop 41 days. With all the beetle kill here in Colorado I have on occasion gone "lumberjack" around the camp with dead standing. It sucks but better alive in the morning. I hike with the Silky Sugowa and LOVE it, although have been stopped by a ranger once asking me about the Japanese "sword"....it rips wood better than a bucking saw for me.
