  • Are you thinking of relocating somewhere in the States? Make sure you take a look at the 12 worst places to live in the U.S. before you make any decisions about your next home base.
    12. St. Louis, Missouri
Over 14% of St. Louis’ population is living below the poverty line. Out of 100,000 residents, every year 35.3 are murdered, which ranks it as one of America’s most dangerous cities too.
    11. Reno, Nevada
Reno was the gambling capital of the US until Las Vegas was developed and “The Biggest Little City in the World” has been in economic decline ever since. Reno experiences nearly 39 annual crimes per 1,000 residents.
    10. Modesto, California
Despite being home to the largest winery in the world, the unemployment rate was nearly 13% in 2014. Modesto ranks number one in the country for car theft and out of 200,000 residents, up to 10,000 are reported to be gang members.
    9. Oakland, California
The economy in Oakland is strong with a good median household income. ($51,683.) However, home to around 50 gangs and a high violent crime rate, Oakland also suffers from high traffic congestion and poor air quality. 190% worse than the national average.
    8. New Orleans, Louisiana
The “murder capital of the country," also has one of the worst toxic-substance records. New Orleans has still not recovered from Hurricane Katrina, and was ranked number two in “America’s Dirtiest Cities.”
    7. Birmingham, Alabama
27.3% of residents live below the poverty line. Out of every 100,000 residents, 1400 are victims of violent crimes due to the prominent drug trade and high poverty rate.
    6. Stockton, California
In 2012, the city filed for bankruptcy. Forbes voted Stockton as one of the most dangerous cities in America due to its high crime rates with over 20,000 violent and property crimes committed last year.
    5. Memphis, Tennessee
Memphis is the largest city on the Mississippi River with over 20% of its inhabitants living below the poverty line. In Memphis you stand a 1 in 12 chance of being a victim of crime.
    4. New Haven, Connecticut
Home of Yale University, the surrounding areas of New Haven are impoverished and crime ridden. Nearly 68 crimes occur annually for every 1,000 residents.
    3. Cleveland, Ohio
Aside from being one of the most corrupt cities in the country, Cleveland also has harsh weather conditions, with an average of 60 inches of snowfall each year.
    2. Detroit, Michigan
The city is suffering from urban decay with over 32% of residents living below the national poverty line. According to FBI Reports, Detroit has the highest rate of violent crime of any city over 200,000.
    1. Camden, New Jersey
Camden has been on Forbes’ list of “America’s Most Miserable Cities” for years. Riddled with urban decay and political corruption, over 42% of its residents live below the poverty line. It also has 560% more crime than the national average.

I should tell, that in Denmark it's illegal to have a house in a town standing like a ruin. The owner would be told to either fix the house or tear it down. If no one claims the property, then the community will tear it down at public expenses. Also it's not legal to have houses standing empty for the purpose of speculation. You have to either use the house yourself or use it for rent. You can't just have a number of old ruins standing around, that are not used.

I have heard many things about American dream, but I also took into consideration that USA is too far, so I decided to take the Japanese one (much to the dismay of my relatives and friends). Long story short, I was on a business trip in 3 different states in USA (California, Tennessee, and North Carolina) and witnessed that USA is not what people used to think it was.....homeless everywhere, every night you can hear gunshot, and poor ghetto neighborhood everywhere. Ie Gates Mills , Pepper Pike, Rocky River, Westlake., , Hunting Valley. The Downtown area has seen billions of dolllars of investment and is quite nice, New Hotels, Convention Center, Apartments , Restaurants etc. , World Class Museums. Spectacular Parks ( Among the best in the world)) I really don't know why people just focus on the ghetto.

I'm kinda mad right now because I live in new Orleans. Look new Orleans isn't that bad of a city, you just have to be careful where you go and stay outta everyones business and don't get involved in gangs. I'm 13 years old and I take public transportation to my house every day after school and so far I've only seen 1 bad thing and it was a drug addicted man that was going really crazy. But anyways it isn't that bad it's a really beautiful place and it has recovered a lot since Katrina. I think more people should come visit new Orleans before it becomes an underwater city since we're below sea levels. But anyways it's a very lovely place but you should just be careful where you go. Please like this comment so the Creator of the video can see it, it would be very appreciated:). And thank you for taking your time to read this.

Detroit is a little different. Their city is horrible. You don’t have to go far from Detroit down town to see horrible areas of Detroit. You don’t even have to go a mile out of the city to see these kinds of areas. Detroit at one point had it’s cops tell people that Detroit is unsafe for visitors. The police force had gone down to 2,000 nearly 40% of cops lost their jobs. Granted that was around 2012 but Detroit is still and unsafe place to be.

The AVERAGE vehicle in detroit takes about $1600 annually in tyre, rim, suspension damage. Anything transportation related suffers & even getting food into the city is a struggle.
PPL in detroit have a NASTY attitude (very destructive) towards outsiders coming in who appears well off. So INVESTORS dont cry when someone burns down your house u picked up in detroit for $500 ;-)

The "Northshore" area which is across the Causeway bridge (the "southshore" consists of New Orleans, Arabi, Jefferson Parish which has Metairie, Gentilly and other cities). The Northshore is considered "St Tammany" parish... The residents (law abiding ones) are flocking out of the Southshore and moving across the bride (Lake Ponchatrain) to the Northshore to escape the horrid crime rate. Somee of the biggest cities in the Northshore area are: Covington, Mandeville, Abita Springs, Madisonville and Slidell. Slidell being the least desirable but still better than New Orleans... The other cities on the Northshore are calling Slidell "the NEW New Orleans East" ~ which is not a good thing. New Orleans East has a horrible reputation in Louisiana.... I hope that this helps a little.

It isn't the same old 1980s, even 1990s Oakland of old. Houses in the LOWER income districts (West Oakland) are now going for $800,000, and apartments in the same low income area are priced at $1000/bedroom. Literally. With Google and Facebook so close by, and Uber headquarters actually moving to Oakland, the city has really become a bit of a gentrification mecca with tons of young, hip techies. Actually voted one of the top cities to visit a few years ago. If
this guy is considering air quality (again questionable in Oak) and traffic, and especially gangs, then LA should definitely be on the list, as it is exponentially worse than Oakland in all 3 categories.

Can anyone advise me whether i should relocate to the the USA or not?

  • @toruko-ishibravo2zulu679

My nearest city is built atop slowly collapsing mine tunnels.
My county residence was built atop mine waste and has
issues equal to or worse than urban residents. WE all get
tilting structures that deform doors and windows. Which
become hard to open or close. The nails, screws, and the
lumber make groaning sounds as structure stress exceeds
structure design specifications. I also have a house once
raided by SWAT for illegal activity. The basement concrete
floor clearly is several feet higher than the original flooring.
In between sheetrock walls movement is heard usually in
dusk to dawn hours. Heavy weight and footsteps in the
sealed attic cause the overhead lumber to squeak. The
basement entry is outside. Of shattered unreinforced
concrete due to bedding soil movement, Ditto, all house
concrete foundation walls. Gaps big enough for rodents.
Put a ball amid any room floor once yearly to see the roll
direction has changed. Urban dwellers can expect mine
collapse to drop their buildings downward. Flammable
gas within the mine can ignite from sparks. Water in the
mine may suddenly flood building interiors as collapsed
structure parts enter the subsurface water table. Why
the affected residents haven't left is a quest to ask them.
Me ? I think my housing is interesting to hear or watch.
I also want to see what's hidden down in the basement.

My grandfather grew up in what was labeled at that time as the "Irish Ghettos of San Francisco" the Mission district where the poor working Irish Catholic lived; the gangs he fought on the streets were Norwegian, Swedes, Italians and Poles. The ails of urban life hasn't changed, only opportunity. Now the average home in that area is $1.2 million dollars and the crime rate hasn't changed in a century and a half. Usted tiene puntos validos pero considero que debe vivir en otros pueblos para entender a Puerto Rico. La metro no es la isla.

"Never refuse or hesitate to take steps against impending dangers…because you think they are too late. Since things often take much longer than expected, because of their very nature and because of the various obstacles they encounter, it very often happens that the steps you have omitted to take, thinking they would have been too late, would have been in time."
      Francesco Guicciardini
