Australia is the second most developed country in the world; especially in the south and west, whilst the rest of the country remains wild and untamed, presenting two very different ways of life - that of the English who arrived in the 19th century in the hopes of expanding their colonies further and further afield, and that of the Aborigines, the first inhabitants of this island-continent. To connect these two worlds, giant trucks, called road trains, relentlessly tackle the most remote roads and tracks on the continent. Since the 1930s, generations of daring drivers have taken to the wheel of these beasts, taking them at full-speed across the Outback’s rugged terrain. These ancestral lands, the Gibson Desert and the unspoilt Arnhem Coast are paradise preserved in a modern world. It is there that members of the Yolngu tribe have kept their cultures and customs alive for more than 50,000 years.

Australia sometimes reminds me of the United States- in some ways. Big, sprawling countries with most of the Population concentrated on the coasts. The big urban cities on the coasts and in the middle no man’s land. I think Australia - the outback has more respect for the wild and dreaming lands of the aborigines than the US allows Native Americans their traditions. Not sure but it seems like that.

Anyway, Deadliest Roads Australia explores
those regions that aren’t connected by planes, trains and endless ribbons of highways between Sydney and Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide - the big cities.
Our journey takes us to the Outback - from Adelaide to Alice Springs and Bawaka to Barkirra in the Northeastern part of the coastal region.
Some fun facts:
1. Australia-owing to its size and isolation-is often dubbed the "island continent"
2. The desert or semi-arid land commonly known as the outback makes up by far the largest portion of land. Australia is the driest inhabited continent;
3. The population density is 3.2 inhabitants per square kilometer, although a large proportion of the population lives along the temperate south-eastern coastline. Compare that to last weeks Deadliest Roads Bangladesh with 43,000 people per square km. Wow. 3.2 versus 43000 people per one square kilometer. Wow.
4. Before European settlement, the animist beliefs of Australia's indigenous people had been practised for many thousands of years. Mainland Aboriginal Australians' spirituality is known as the Dreaming and it places a heavy emphasis on belonging to the land. The collection of stories that it contains shaped Aboriginal law and customs. Aboriginal art, story and dance continue to draw on these spiritual traditions.

I spent a couple years in Aus, majority of it in the outback. Never ceased to amaze me the quality of these old Land Cruisers, absolute beasts of a motor.
I have a old LandCruiser got to 950000 km rebuilt it because I thought it was about due for one. Turns out it had a cracked head and it never showed any signs of a cracked head while running and ran hard all day everyday in 40+ heat went on to do another 300 thousand then I retired it
The 1hz is a beast!

Whereas the meat industry kills cows, hens and what not, though, it may be food for the end consumers, its still commerce, since the meat industry earns profit based on it.
As a kenyan am wowed by the fact that these documentary teach us alot including other people's culture and belief I respect all human race regardless of ethnicity since most of people have had these cultures since time immemorial and stick to them 🇰🇪🇰🇪🇰🇪🙏🙏🙏 I have heard stories from my travelled friend and Now I can conclude this is true fro these documentaries 👍👍

This series is called DEADLIST roads so generic road and traveling risks should not qualify as risks in this context IN MY OPINION. But i'm not the joker publishing this stuff.
There are many roads that are just as swampy as any other. They get bogged down as well.

This commentator keeps trying to make the drive sound dangerous, except the dude is driving a Toyota, which is the most reliable bush vehicle EVER
Have any of you guys even been to Australia I can assure you that I have and yes these routes may not look all that dangerous on TV but I can assure you when you are driving miles and miles into the middle of nowhere with no help in sight no people around and you are by yourself any mistake you make small or big and put you in a life threatening situation and yes Toyota trucks are one of the most reliable trucks in the entire world but any vehicle is prone to breaking down and if you are out in the middle of nowhere with nobody around and it breaks down what are you going to do and it's a hundred plus degrees or you accidentally aren't paying attention and you get into an accident and are injured now what you are in a survival situation and I have been in a survival situation it is not a joke free documentaries please do not pay any attention to these ignorant fools. Also one last thing the number one thing that leaves a driver stranded in the middle of nowhere is not engine failure Australians run into pop tires more than anything else on their route and yes they have more than one spare most of the time but I have personally seen where I'm completely flat roads just because of the heat and some of the rocks are so sharp they have gotten four and five flat tires in one route so before you judge unless you've done any of this stop being so freaking ignorant
Up in N.T and North Queensland, you will find the tracks off road are made with Toyota's over many years, and if you try driving anything else, they tend to get stuck. Funniest one was when we came on a guy with a hummer wedged between two trees on such a trail. we had a chain saw so we could free his truck. As for the croc's, Fresh water croc's are ok to be around, if you have them in the area, likely you don't have "satlies" as they get chased off or eaten. Salt water croc's are an alpha predator, very smart, and aren't afraid of men.

The tribes in Australia are as diverse as anywhere in the world. 600 nations and more languages than Europe. There is every type of climate and geography and the tribal people refined the art of survival in each one. A most interesting and complex history.

When I was still living in Queensland, I used to drive from Maroochydore (Coast) to Blackwater (Outback) every 2 weeks and I really miss the view of the outbacks and the peace of driving having all the big roads for yourself so peaceful and calming. Plus stopping at servos and getting pies aswell is something I really miss doing. I miss Australia the most beautiful place on earth.
Let's be honest though, Blackwater isn't really that outback...

All the whites I ever knew who went up into the Top End had/have a lot of respect for the Aboriginal tribes that live there and their culture. There's not a lot of mutual ground between Aboriginal and European cultures, so any ideas of co-mingling never work out. But it is heartwarming to see the respect built up over the years, and I have a lot of respect for these Aboriginal folk too. They've forgotten more about the land than we'll ever know, and their methods work. How that gets interpreted is a matter usually of religious conviction, but it pays to respect it. They are the true sons of the earth up there.

Have any of you guys ever even been to Australia I can assure you that I have and no matter what kind of vehicle you drive they are all prone to breaking down and in the middle of the desert where the heat is scorching and you are hours and miles and miles away from any kind of help these drives are extremely dangerous I myself have been in a survival situation that could tell you some of the situations these guys are in or no freaking joke so why are you guys keep trying to downplay the seriousness of these routes.I can assure you it might not look dangerous on the screen and yes I agree Toyota's are extremely reliable but no matter what any vehicle can break down especially in harsh climates like this and anyone mistake can put you in a life of death situation. Free documentaries don't pay attention to these ignorant fools.

I agree any vehicle put through harsh conditions can break down. But so far Toyota has produced off road vehicles that have less chances of breaking than other brands.

@@elitehacker1416 I've lived in Australia for 50 years and have travelled a lot of it. I've never had a breakdown, because I literally spend weeks preparing my 4 wheel drive before I go. I also don't travel alone, I carry a sat phone, a lot of water and food, 2 spare tyres, lots of spare parts. I'm about to leave on a 2 month trip through the Simpson Desert, to the western edge of the country, then back east across the top. I'll probably do 20,000 kms. And I really really can't wait to go. The desert at night is wonderful.

What a beautiful documentary! In today's dying world, it's wonderful to see that a more authentic way of being human survives, with or without Toyota.
The quality of these documentaries are so good that , this documentary even though excellent in itself seems rather dull or of a lower quality primarily because of the bar the other documentaries in this series have set. That itself speaks a great deal about the quality of these documentaries.
The only reason I felt a little let down was , unlike other Deadliest roads series there was no Life threatening scenarios which came out explicitly , i feel this should have been under the Dangerous Roads category .
