The "angelic song" playing, when Tanner was finishing the race, was "Gaudeamus igitur", which is some sort of an university anthem. When someone graduates, this song is played for them, to acknowledge that their studies has been successfully done.
They were speaking there about some high schools so it has something to do with it. Probably some other action in the same time.
Dude, running your FIRST marathon in under 3:20 (assuming you started late) is a hell of an accomplishment. That's already REAL close to qualifying for the Boston marathon.
Thanks! It was officially 3:23, since I crossed the starting line not too long after the race officially began. I am extremely happy with the result for sure!
Way to go, Tanner! And you have a great cheer squad. I actually teared up listening to Risa talk about how proud she is of you and how she loves seeing your excitement and supporting you!
Wow dude, that's a serious accomplishment! Kudos! And it was so cute how Risa and Willa cheered for you!
Excellent job, Tanner! Kudos! What an amazing achievement to finish a Marathon.
Huge respect for everyone who finishes a marathon!!! And then filming and commenting at the same time... Incredible! In Germany we say: Ich ziehe meinen Hut!!!
Congratulations! After the finish you always say that!
Looking forward to the Ironman video!!! :-)
Congratulations on 3:23 hrs for your first ever Full Marathon. This is quite a good time, beside of the fact you filmed during run, which I guess exhausting you additionally. Believe me or not, it’s just the feeling directly after but some time later maybe motivation comes back to think about another one beating the recent result. My dream was to run under 3 hrs and I missed for only 14 seconds. 18 years later with 42 years of age I ran again in 3:14. Now again 12 years later I am trying to lose weight and to focus for 2023 to run my fourth in about 3:15 to 3:30. Like very much your insight of American view of living here in Germany 🇩🇪
Thanks Christian! Ah man that’s so close to 3 hours! Still remarkable time regardless. Great to hear that you’re hoping to get back into it again. It’s true, I’m already thinking of when my next one will be. I have a 34 km race in Slovenia later this year but we’ll have to see when the next marathon is.
@@OurStorytoTell maybe Frankfurt Marathon is of interest: always taking place last Sunday in October. It’s almost flat and a good one to run good times. Good luck for your next run in Slovenia.
Congratulation..running and filming????..you are fantastic ..this is a double effort...tks for sharing
Thanks Gigi! It wasn’t the easiest, but fun to capture my emotions and feelings before and during the race
Wow Tanner you are quite a guy. After the marathon, you still looked fresh like you barely broke a sweat. I hope you had nice food and a loooong sleep after that! And congratulations to your first Marathon!
Wow! Kudos to you!!! That was amazing!
GO Tanner! CONGRATULATIONS!!! 🎉💥 I’m so impressed by your fearlessness, courage and commitment. Also, I noticed the rainbows in the video. Thank you for that too. ❤️
Gratulation 🥂.
Gute Erholung!
What a great and fun video and congratulations on your first marathon can't wait to watch more videos from you two
WOW! Respect Tanner and congrats :-)
Good job, congratulations. Even in my school days I hardly could make 3km. The more I adore those who can do that distance.
you can be so proud of yourself...!!! you did an amazingly great and fantastic job!!! congratulations 👏👏👏👏
impressive dude! well done. and having such a sweet wife and adorable willa cheering you up is definately helping achieve your goals no matter what. :)
Congratulations, Tanner! That had to have been tough. Willa is fast becoming a real ham in front of the camera. She is so adorable!
Bravissimo Tanner!!!!!! Till the next Marathon comes up you'll have forgotten the pain....just like giving birth and yet babies are constantly being born!!!!! Get what I mean?!🙄😳😘🤗🙏
Respect!
Nice one, really want to do this next year
wow,respect👏
greatest respect!
5:25 I was a little bit sad, when Tanner cut his long hair. But I have to admit, while running it looked a bit silly. 😊😁

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Marathon!
I know, me too! I miss the long some days, but honestly it’s been really nice not needing to worry about it during all the training and running I’ve been doing. It’ll come back sometime again :)
Loved watching your race. Not my thing for sure, but I'm impressed you made it through so well. It's a mental thing at one point. I hit a runners high one time and don't care to go find it again 😂 too much work .... The support team was so sweet ❤️. Keep on running!
Very well done Tanner and i am sure you will do it again :) Dont forget Chris McCormack " When the pain comes, smile "
Beautiful vids (from both of you) of Prague during that marathon. No matter what you DID this particular marathon, Tanner, and NOTHING can take that away- not even if you decide to never do one again. At least you know that you ARE capable of finishing one and that's the important thing! BTW, the Marathon supposedly got invented by a messenger from the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC to Athens to warn the city of the Persians so they could defeat the enemy- and the poor messenger collapsed and died after completing that 26 mile run. Thanks for this (and maybe if you decide to run again, you might want to leave the camera-phone behind so you don't have to carry it while running).
Congrats !! huge respect for each and everyone taking the challenge.. successful or not.... I personally was never into running.. played Tennis, danced competitions, table tennis, badminton, etc... but all those Ausdauersportarten were never meant for me... ah endurance sports, had to look it up...
oh Willa you are a super blessed child and you dont even know it. 😀 Well done Tanner i will never run a Marathon.
Wait for it….. now you say never again….it’s like a drug! You will come back. Great run!!
Congratulations Tanner 🎉 it didn’t look easy to run with the cobble stones .
That was some marathon. With 88 countries taken part 😜.
Hope you have Rested well after this .
Enjoy rest of your week 🥰
"See you later elevator" haha 🙂 Well done, 42 Km you`ll never forget
Congrats, I've been there too. It's been to hot to run a marathon. But you did great!
Thank you! It was hot during the race too! Much warmer than the 5-10 degrees I was used to training in.
Oh, wow!!! 🌟 You also could come to the Berlin Marathon! I think there is also the possibility of the half distance.❤️
I’ve heard the Berlin marathon is amazing. Maybe sometime in the future!
you can be proud of yourself. even make it to the finish line is a big achievement.
Hats off, man! I have no problem walking long trips but running really isn't my thing, I would die after the first 200 meters... :)))
P.S.: the "angelic" music playing at the finish line isn't anything religious, it is a historic student anthem in Latin, named Gaudeamus Igitur, the speaker was talking about some high schools in the background before that... :)
Wow.. I allready get exhausted moving from sofa to the fridge ;) And btw, what i love the most about Germany: It is viking in the nothern north, and becomes roman, the more u get into the south. And all of it is beautifull...
Excellent !! You'll do another one again !!! Get hooked !! :-) This one is on my bucket list (if I ever run again) There was a marathon in Füssen I was looking at many years ago. Check that one out if they are still doing it. I know you've already been there but that one seems really fun.
I said after my first half marathon in Monterey, CA. "why the 'heck' would anyone want to do this TWICE !!" Never thought I would do a full. I did 8 of them after that. ha
That would be a beautiful area for a race!
Incredible to hear you ran 8 marathons! I know it can get addicting. It’s mostly the time commitment for training that I’m more against than the actual race. We’ll see, but I’m sure I will run another one again sometime in my life :)
Congratulations. Prague sure looks beautiful. I think if you have to run a marathon you'd be hard pressed to find a nicer location. I gotta say, after crossing the finish line you looked like you were going to pass out. How were the next few days? If I did that I probably wouldn't be able to move for about a month. 😁
It was a beautiful place to run! Yes, I felt like I was about to pass out a few times once I stopped. My body wanted to shut down 😂. But after I got more oranges and bananas and water in me things got better. I definitely needed to do a better job of having carbs during the race.
It took me about a week to walk without feeling extremely sore, but I’m all good now :)-
I would have died. All honor. By the way, Tanner could be a Tom Cruise impressionist😀
Well done Tanner, try the Rome Marathon. The city with the 7 hills. For me it was the hardest marathon in my life.
Gaudeamus igitur....wooowwwe
Congratulations. Never mind, running always leads to more running. It will not have been your last. And a great way to do sightseeing. Would you share your finishing time? I managed to run the full Marathon in under four hours twice.
Thanks! I know, it really is true. Running will almost always lead to more running haha. I finished in 3:23 which was faster than my goal of 3:30-3:45. Congrats on running 2 of them under 4! It’s not easy!
@@OurStorytoTell I wondered if you were going to disclose your time. You should be really pleased with yourself, especially beating your target on a warm day. That's very creditable for a first marathon.
@@OurStorytoTell wow an amazing time for your first Marathon :) very very fast, you must run more. I will run this year the Chicago Marathon. And yes the Berlin Marathon is a very nice Marathon. Greetings from North Germany
Congrats on the marathon! Would you plan to run Frankfurt marathon? It's a flat course!
Thanks! Maybe someday... I will likely run another one during our time here in Germany, but whether it will be in Germany or another European country, I'm still not sure. We will see!
@@OurStorytoTell haha we will be doing frankfurt marathon this year! It's a flat course and should be cold in October! Hope you get to run more marathons in Europe before you head back to the US!
And this is a way to visit Prague ...high speed😁😂
Exactly! It was really fun to see so much of the city and to run along the river.
Tschüssi … so sweat 😂
That song "Gaudeamus igitur" isn´t "angelic" at all.
It is an old german "University student song" with latin lyrics but with no religious content...it is basically praising "being young + agile" and "the living in the moment" = basically in its "original intent" praising "student life" but in a sense it totally fits for reaching the finish line after exhausting 42 km as well.
The high school relay race was a part of the marathon. And the speaker was congratulating the best teams at the moment. So therefor Gaudeamus.
And what was his position ? ;D
Czech tourist attractions
if you only think its hard during the last 1-2 km.. then surely you gonna try it again.
Don’t get me wrong, those were the worst of them mentally, but from about 35km and on was less than enjoyable 😂. But, you’re probably right. I’m sure I’ll do another one sometime.
I don't see the point of running marathons, even half-marathons. 28 people have died in marathons or within 24 hours of finishing. The closest I ever got to a marathon was eating a Marathon chocolate bar, which didn't last as long as a marathon and tasted a lot better.
In some ways, I can see your point. I can honestly say the same thing about many athletic events (Ironman, ultramarathons, running consecutive marathons for 100+ days). Some people find that it brings them adrenaline and accomplishment that feels good. I know at least for me running let’s me wind down, gives me time to think, and feels good to move my body. The marathon definitely pushed me passed what I was comfortable doing haha, but I think that’s also a part of it. But yes, some people have unfortunately died after running half or full marathons, so I see that point too.
Cool video, it was a really good watch and amazing motivation for the types of videos I want to upload to my channel.
I have just uploaded a video to my channel announcing a running challenge I think you will be interested in. Let me know if you are interested.
Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to your next video!!!
Great Job - but 'Sport ist Mord' ;-)
Congrats but is the nijmeegse vierdaagse nothing for you. A 4 days walking 50 km per day. It is the biggest 4 days in the world with 40000 people who are aloud to walk. It is in Nijmegen in the netherlands
It is not a contest but one big parrty and one the last day hundreds of thousend people welcome the participands back in to Nijmegen wenn they pass the finish. There are lots of campings for the walkers and lots of people accomadate their house for them. Walkers from over 100 country s are there
Well done Tanner. Didnt know that a marathon is held in der goldenen Stadt Prag. At least you have beaten the Besenwagen and even other runners. de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Besenwagen
Good job Tanner . Running , filming and commenting at the same time . And Willa is always an overload of cuteness .
Thanks E P!
