    Disneyland was great too....Pirates was a walk on at 5pm, and we rode it 3 times in a row......limited park capacity + no social distancing on rides/ with full boats/trains/coasters = one of the best trips ever....

That was back in 99 and we can't remember exactly which hotel it was (we have it narrowed down to two). The names have changed and both motels have been refreshed. The HoJo is a great place to stay. Building 1 and 2 are remodeled and the other buildings are older but still nice. If you want the newest rooms, make sure you book building 1 or 2.We think that the HoJo has one of the most comfortable beds and pillows in the area. Tropicana has rooms with kitchens, I believe you need to call them to book. However, the tub is standard size.
      Park Vue Inn has a kitchenette with microwave, sink, and refrigerator. but has a standard size tub.
      Home 2 Suites on Manchester has a kitchenette but standard tub (we havne't stayed here yet)
      A specific suite at The Anaheim Hotel has a large tub, we did not have a good stay here and recommend reading the most recent reviews to make a decision on staying there.
      The JW Marriott Does have a large tub but no kitchenette
      The new Westin on Katella and Disneyland Drive has room options with a separate tub.

      Hi! We go at Christmas time every year. Sometimes we go in late November or early December. We have seen all different types of weather during those times. From very chilly (for California standards) to abnormally warm. One year when we went it was 90 degrees during the day! Another year we went it was in the 50s during the day and even cooler at night. The mornings and evenings are typically much cooler. We always dress in layers for that reason.
      Hojo is open all year. The year that it was 90 degrees when we went, we happened to be staying at the Hojo. Our boys loved playing at the water park and were warm enough, until the sun started to set. As soon as the sun was no longer in the play area, they got cold. It will really depend on the weather when you are there.

    I used to love HoJo. We would always get park view rooms which were great, and customer service was great. We used them heavily between 2014 and 2018. But then something happened. Now their prices are WAY too expensive. Especially for their location. I can stay right at the crosswalk with ParkPlace (with free breakfast and room for 5) for the same price as a highway view room at HoJo which offers no breakfast, is a city block walk, and now charges for parking. The value of HoJo has disappeared - and I have no idea why.

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 2 lety +1

      Oh! That is a rough decision. Being so close to the parks is a wonderful perk. Do you usually take a break back at the hotel? If you take breaks, you may want to consider desert inn. We have stayed there many times and our last stay, the room was not the cleanest. Not to say that you will have a similar experience. That was the first time having that issue there. And you are correct, the rooms are not updated. But if you aren’t spending much time in the room, that may not matter as much. Also, Desert Inn is a motel and Element is a hotel. Not sure if that matters to you or not. But we did hear more noise outside at the Desert Inn.
      We absolutely loved the Element and we didn’t mind the extra walk. Plus, at Element, they provide a full hot breakfast which can save a lot of money over the course of your trip. We loved the breakfast and they had a lot of different options available.
      I would consider if the extra walk will be doable with your family and also think about the savings of the included breakfast. It’s a tough decision. Please reach out if you have any other questions and have a wonderful trip!!

      Hello, thank you so much for watching and commenting. We have not stayed at Anaheim Majestic yet. It is on our list of places to check out. We do love that they are one of only two hotels in the area that have a dedicated shuttle to the Disneyland resort. That is a huge plus! We have also heard good things about staying there from friends. My coworker stayed there in 2021 and really liked it. Looking at reviews, it seems like the walls may be a bit thin and you can hear the neighbors. We like to use a sound machine in the room and also bring ear plugs just in case.
      Some similar style hotels, that are walking distance to the parks are Hilton Garden Inn, Wyndham, And Hotel Indigo. We have room tours of all of those on our channel. We also just recently stayed at the Grand Legacy Hotel in their luxury room, and that tower is also a hotel. We will have a room tour video coming out on March 7th for the Grand Legacy. Another hotel that we are staying in on our April trip would be the Desert Palms. It’s a hotel, it’s walking distance and has an included hot breakfast. All of these hotels should be very close in price range. Please let us know if you have any other questions. ☺️

      Oh wow, that is awful and I wouldn't be happy one bit. We aren't fans of having anyone enter our rooms to begin with, but then having your door left open is an inexcusable. We were just talking and we wouldn't go back either if it happened to us. I have read reviews at other nearby hotels where people have lost a lot property go missing. It is something we all have to be careful of when staying at a hotel.
      We had an incident at a Walt Disney World hotel in June where a cast member entered our room at 9pm, while we were asleep. Nobody could explain why they were coming in the room so late. We were told by the individual it was to perform a room check. When we checked with Disney, they said that was way too late for room checks.
      We can empathize with exactly how you feel. Thank you so much for watching and leaving a comment.

      @@AnaheimParkTourist Gosh..having someone enter your room at night is just as bad..Invasion of privacy on vacation is unsettling. I was crushed because I loved the HOJO so much. That was our second home away from home. The Front desk made a comment that they were just taking a break and were expecting maintenance to enter shortly to change a light bulb.. I said it was totally unacceptable and no guests door should ever be left open or unlocked. Will be anxious to see Candy Canes new rooms next Spring when the remodel is completed. We have never stayed there before.

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 2 lety

      It is a shame that HoJo didn't make a better attempt to save you as a customer, especially since you were a long term customer. My opinion is, if someone isn't performing work in your room, the door should be secured. People that need to perform work have master keys and can enter when needed.
      We are really excited about the Candy Cane. We have been following the progress on social media and it looks like the updates are going to be really nice. The older rooms were dated but the place was quiet, clean, and the staff was very friendly.
      If you are looking for a hotel replacement for Hojo, check out Wyndham on the corner of Harbor and Katella. The manager, Ozzy, is super nice and his staff are friendly. We had an issue at another hotel last year, Wyndham remembered us, and put us in a quiet corner of the hotel. It is about the same distance as Hojo.
      Another nice motel replacement is Alpine Inn. We were shocked how nice it was. The staff were super friendly and like Candy Cane, they offer returning guest discounts if you call.
      However, HoJo beds I think are more comfortable then these to hotel/motels. We have videos on both in case you want to check them out.

    Hello, we are from the UK and have had to push our September 2021 trip back to june 2021.We want to stay at Best western stovell, have you ever stayed or have any thoughts on this resort

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 3 lety

      I am sorry to hear that you had to push your trip back. We haven't stayed at Stovall's yet but it is the same owner as the other Best Westerns in the area (Mini Suites, Park Place Inn, Pavilions).
      We are trying to stay there but not sure when we can. We were just trying to sort out hotels for our October trip and we discovered that t a number of hotels are already booked!
      What I can say: The walk in the morning is about 1 mile. You cannot cut through the Grand Californian anymore and must enter Downtown Disney near the Disneyland Hotel when going to either park. On the return trip, you can cut through the Grand Californian making the trip a bit shorter. At the end of the day, it will feel like a long walk. I do have a walking video from Eden Roc, which is across the street from Stovall's, for some reason the video was over exposed. I never released it because the quality wasn't good. If you want to see that, I can send upload and send a link to give you an idea what the walk is like.
      Stovall's is a motel and not a hotel. There will generally be more parking lot noise since the room entrances are outside and face the parking lot. We have stayed at the Mini Suites and Park Place Inn and both were very comfortable motels. I would expect the same from Stovall's since they are the same owner. We do know Stovall's has a fan base and love it there. We have never heard of any major complaint either.
      Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. I hope this helps a bit and let us know if you have more questions.

      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 3 lety

      The Howard Johnson is surprisingly quiet. The only time you hear the highway is when you are on the balcony. A park view room is even quieter and you can view the fireworks from your room. The Camelot is a good motel, it is the same owner as the Tropicana. We have stayed there in the past and enjoyed it. The Camelot is about a 5-7 minute walk to the Disneyland Resort.

    You guys have any recommendations for suites? We are a family of six planning an upcoming trip but a standard hotel room is obviously a little too small. All the kids are small (7 and under), so we don't need anything massive, but we're a Florida family so Disneyland planning is new to us!

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 3 lety +3

      Hi, thanks for commenting. A lot of this depends on your budget. Disneyland area motels/hotels are so much more expensive than WDW. I am assuming you want to stay in a walking distance hotel. When I say that, I assume right on harbor. Harbor and Katella offer more options. If you stay further out you have more options but will need to drive in or take a shuttle.
      The one hotel we mentioned that is very expensive, but probably equivalent to a suite price is the courtyard Marriott on South Harbor. This hotel is brand new and the room configurations may work for your family. It does run 350-450 a night and has an amazing water park. We haven’t stayed here but the hotel looks nice and this would probably be our number 1 choice.
      On the budget side of things. You might hear more noise from your neighbors. You can hear people walking above you . These are older places
      Castle Inn and Suites (we should have a regular motel room video up in August). Rooms have been renovated in the last few years. It is a further walk, about 7-10 min.
      Desert Inn and Suites. Much closer to Disneyland but rooms are old and not renovated.
      At the mid point
      Grand Legacy offers suites and I believe it’s in the older tower that was built approximately 2013. Many people think it’s original from the 50s, it’s not. We stayed in one in 2014 and we had no complaints. However, they did recently build a new tower and they have a rooftop bar, The Fifth, which has loud music until 11pm. Check trip advisor reviews, some with small children do complain about this.
      Alpine Inn and Suites: we actually have a suite booked there for a trip in August. The prices seem fair and this was always the place Crystal stayed at when she was a kid. It is on Katella but right at Harbor. We are not sure what this place is like since it’s been way too long, Video for this will be September/October I am guessing
      More expansive:
      Tropicana and Camelot: both these motels have recent renovations. They are close to the park.
      Best Western Mini Suites, the rooms are nice and it is close to the crosswalk. If you watch our Best Western walking video, we walk right past this best Western. You have to be careful when booking, there are 5 best western hotels in the area.
      Howard Johnson Hotel: my sister stayed in one of their suites and loved it. It’s about a 9 minute walk and it is a true hotel. You can get view rooms.
      With the age of the children (assuming strollers) I would recommend staying closer. It will make mid-day breaks much easier.
      We are actually at WDW right now and I am typing this on a phone, so please forgive my typos. I hope this at least gets you started. If you want you can pick a few hotels and we can help answer any questions for you.

    • @AnaheimParkTourist
      @AnaheimParkTourist Před 2 lety +1

      I will throw this caveat in, parking is a bit tight everywhere. Howard Johnson just recently started to charge for parking, but their lot is decent. Spaces aren't too small. Park Vue has diagonal and standard parking, and it is pretty good. Note, they only have an open lobby 7am-11pm. Tropicana has a mix of Diagonal spots and your standard spot. Candy Cane is still close for their renovation. The three probably have some of the better parking on Harbor.
      BW+ has recently started valet offsite, which I am not a fan of.

    Well, my top 5 thru 1 would be the Candy Cane Inn. I don't stay anywhere else if I have a choice, regardless of price. Being a solo visitor, I appreciate the shuttle that insures I don't have to walk all by myself and risk anything, but more than having FREE transportation to and from the parks, I don't have to pay for parking my car, "resort fees" OR breakfast. I really have a problem with paying for parking when I am paying you to stay at your hotel/motel and what the heck are "resort fees"??? Candy Cane Inn doesn't charge for any of these things. I have been staying since I was a child and there were those big fat candy canes at the front of the hotel and I am 64 now. I went in October of 2021 and as they were closed for renovations, stayed at another hotel. To avoid paying for parking and "resort fees" I stayed over 2 miles away, which meant I had to park at a Disney parking lot and take their shuttle, so I actually ended up paying for parking anyways, but I will be danged if I am staying at ANY place that is going to charge me for using their parking lot when I am a paying customer. The other places may be nice, but I will stick with the Candy Cane. I am SO excited to see their renovations and will be staying there on my next trip! I won't go back to Disneyland until they are open again.

      Hi there,
      We are basing our opinions based on our overall experience over the last 20+ years of staying in the area. We pay for everything and we are not sponsored. Our videos are based on our experience, just like yelp reviews or trip advisor reviews are based on other peoples opinions and experience. However, I am well aware of people creating fake reviews for a number of different reasons. That is why we have said on a number of different videos and comments you always need to follow trends on internet reviews. Trends will indicate positive or negatives.
      Our experiences are based on our authentic stay at the hotel, which we paid for. Once again we have never been compensated for any of our videos except for CZcams ad revenue. You can have a completely different experience staying at a hotel than us, based on environmentals, other guests, or maintenance issues. People can agree or disagree with our opinions, such as you. That is okay we are one source out of many difference sources for finding hotels.
      For instance we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel and had cold water in our shower. A viewer of our channel stayed at the Wyndham many times, had great stays, but one stay a side show took place at Harbor and Katella which negatively affected their stay. Both cases were different factors.
      Here is an article stating that the on property Disney hotels had bed bugs. This happened at the Grand Californian, which is the most expensive hotel on Disney Property. www.cbsnews.com/losangeles/news/disneyland-hotel-pays-100000-settle-bedbug-lawsuit/
      We personally conduct a thorough inspection of the room to look for bed bugs after seeing what he dealt with first hand.
