He was the kid who told his parent he wanted to be a rear axel when he grew up
Usually comments on yt just make me exhale heavily through my nose, this one produced an audible laugh
Kids with balls to take a child size v8 still enough to throw you around lol
I don't know how these guys sit with their legs that close together, with those grapefruit sized titanium nuts...
When his parachute failed he unzipped his pants and threw them overboard thats how he stopped in time
The only part that’s scary about this is having those tires right there
OK through the comment section we have concluded that damn near every part of this is terrifying 😂
For real. I was hoping I wasn't the only one thinking about that. a blow out would be the scariest thing on the planet
@Earl Delsanto that is bad but normally blowers are strapped down still scary a shit though
Earl Delsanto Maybe it’s comforting for some to be able to watch the shrapnel flying at you 😂
Don Garlits designed the modern engine behind the driver design because of a clutch explosion that removed a big part of his foot and broke his car in half.
I thought I was gonna see a wreck. Instead I saw a man who knows exactly how to handle a situation and handle it flawlessly. Way more impressive.
Daaaaamn i seriously expected something far worse when he hit the sand
track engineers know what they're doing. Those sand traps are specifically designed to slow the car down, not to flip it.
Those brakes really did get him slowed down. He was almost already stopped. very impressive! Definitetly gonna need new brakes after that!
We used a truck diff that had plenty of brake for the weight. I never went this quick(BB Chevy natural) so it wasn't scary at all. 184 inch Econo-rail back in the day. He was able to stop it on brakes alone and I bet it was a pucker moment at the end but he saved it.
Our brains are trained to see things move at a normal rate of speed. This guys brain is trained to see things move much faster and slows them down. Fighter pilots, etc. are the same way. They would beat us at Wack o Mole every time. It was the first thing I noticed on the first pass in something this quick. Very different than most door slammer.
Looking at the size of the sand trap I would guess it's a par 4
Good job of keeping the bounce down to a minimum...perfect braking!
You know you’re moving fast when the plane of your reality starts shifting
It was doing that cuz he was all the way on the brakes so it was shifting side to side. You ever had to slam on the brakes then the steering tried to pull to one side well its the same thing here just way faster and alot worse steering
Or if you meant the actual pass thats not what the driver sees that's just the camera its not technically meant to be catching air like that so its starts distorting the camera it self. I mean I've never been 220 but I have been 180
@@truevegas i wouldn't know dont go to parties i spend my time at the dragstrip
*That* is some heads-up, cool driving right there. Well-held, got it stopped, and both you and the car come back to fight another day. Bravo.
Solid run! The parachute was clearly too scared to come out because of the speed
The pilot chute Probably failed to pull the actual parachute out
Brings me back to the 70s when I drove a B/ED dragster, so much fun. I remember our crew always insisted I pack my own chute. Thanks for posting!
From the camera angle, the engine sounds just like the mini V8's revving lol
It’s always good to watch most people walk away from crash’s and everything I’m glad you’re safe bc I always go there to help my step dad with his vl and that I’ll be racing it too but that’s why everyone should spend that extra money even if its thousands on safety stuff because a life is price less and a life just can’t be replaced
Wow... that perspective gives me newfound respect for you guys. Y'all are CRAZY!
Love being able to see the tires grow and everything going on in the cockpit.
Quite amazing, and thankfully safe, landing in the "capture" pit; many cars have skated straight through one. Seemed like you were sitting a couple of inches higher afterwards though. ;-)
Good to know YT will randomly recomend racing videos and not just ones with cats.
This is how it feels when you’re the first car to go on the green light, and then the next traffic light is red
This one of the best videos of what the driver sees and does I have ever seen.
My name is Geoff. My sons name is Blake. This is why I clicked the video. SWEET!
Wow, what's stud! Handled that like you've done it 100 times before
Awesome Drive Geoff driven like a true professional
Congrats, you passed the previous first-place distance marker by 2'10"!
(that's what the little boxwood bush is)
Great job of driving that beast, keeping it under control under the worst conditions...👍👍👍👍👍
Never had an angle like this of the marsh mellow tires .
Thanks for the ride ! 😎
That was a ride. Glad he handled it smoothly. Very cool rail.
i could just FEEL the pain watching all of those rocks fly into the exhaust
Great job driving ! Just think about everything going through his mind! Had to think fast great work!!
A little dirt and maybe flat spots on the tires. Nice save 👌 👏
Nice save. Always ready for the unexpected.
Pretty good driving. Kept her from bouncing mostly . Stuff happens in drag racing unfortunately. Well done
Why did this get recommended 8 years ago
That was rad! Glad he's ok and saved the car!
Maaann that was fast ‼️
Thanks for the ride
Bloody good left hand grip! 👍🏻
I was hoping like hell it didn't roll!! Good save!! 👍🏻👍🏻
OMG, I am so glad you didn’t go into the nets.
Wow That Was Fun Sumbitch ..
And The Smokey Burn out Ohhhh Yeahhhh Baby
The power and mayhem produced by that motor makes me giddy with excitement
You did a hell of a job getting that thing stopped.
Enjoy the rocks in your exhaust manifold!!! Handled it!!
Great job reducing the bounce, not his first rodeo !!
Late on the brakes and hand completely of the brake handle for a bit but dont mind that part.
"It was at this moment... he pooped himself."
now that was a cool perspective of what its like to drive 1 of those ---i thought everyone went to rear engine dragsters back in the 70s for safety reasons
Handled that really well
Awesome control mate
Nice finish. Good job!
Great drivin bud!
Good job managing that situation
Nailed it. No panic except save the motor lol.
This amazes me every time
you made your pit crew very happy sir!
Great job buddy. Glad you got her stoped
Thats just good old American fun!
@@DarthJermz And the Aussies started doing it shortly after America invented it. But one thing you Americans seem to know nothing about- Aussies have defined for the whole World just what a proper burnout is. America has no idea!
wow that was actually some superb braking for that small distance, I was expecting a 150mph crash.
dayum that was freaking intense ! I always wonder how do they manage with all those G Forces and all that speed ...For sure smells like danger
Good job brother. Thank you for sharing .
I was the one thousandth Like and you earned it. Good job.
Skill experience brain and big balls from a fellow racer
Nice straight run (no explanation as to why no chutes, so I am assuming the chute failed) nice job driving !
Nice footage. Looks like you handled it great. I expected much worse.
Ice in your veins. Perfectly executed!
How fast when you hit the sand? Looked like you scrubbed a lot of speed off.
nice save.. and lovely car.
Great vid!
Damn! I am glad that sand trap was there....
Smooth beach landing!
Dam that gotta be one hell of a feeling!!
Fantastic job!!!
That was fuckingawesome. What a great camera view. Sick car. And the tracks safety protocol works perfectly LOL
love how the youtube algorithm just now suggested this
glad you're safe
That sudden, immediate mechanical violence never fails to excite
Nice use of s shapes to aid slowing at the end in the steering there
great brake control!!
Damn those sand banks are legit.
I see the old sling shot chassis is still trying to kill drivers. You did good on the brakes. I'm sure there wasn't much to work with.
Brilliant save!!!!
Wow, wild ride
Lovely engine note, I must say.
exciting?yep.
Great vid.
See you guys again in 8 yrs when CZcams puts this on your Suggested Videos page.
Excellent driving been there Canada
Great position on the vehicle. The only way it could be better is if the drivers helmet was positioned directly over the tire
Picking the rocks out of that rocket must have been hell.
All things considered, that ended about as perfect as it could have.
0:54 so fast he changed dimensions
Awesome perspective
Nice save!
Unaware the tires were infront of the driver, crazy.
That was one hellofa ride boy!
Great camera view of what could have been a disaster.....but was handled beautifully by the driver. Hopefully no rocks entered the injection scoop.
Fun ride-along
Great save!
Handled it like a Pro sir....God bless
he was slow that's why he stopped at the send, i just saw a 4 second car hit the net
I mean he only had brake🤷🏼♂️
What would a not-pro do?
Not really
Liam Lindsay
I guess its more complicated to brake without abs with balloon tyres
@@dinodavis4234 since you're the expert, what did he do wrong?
