      Well I hope it’s the brand dimension and the 3/8 inch size because there are other dagger brushes that are not nearly as good. Sounds like you’re having fun that’s great Sue

      @@raeandrews1925 I’m not sure of that brand in Australia. I bought a Rosemary & Co so that it was safe to take travelling but I did manage to fling it on the ground out of it’s holder! I will invest in a stay at home one.

    I really enjoy your demos.... esp the way you keep the paint fresh and lively. My challenge this year is to LOOSEN UP, your style appeals to me because: the brushstrokes are free and easy but saturated with color, the painting appears to be controlled but not obvious. Thanks for the demo!

    Dear Rae I would like to see how you draw in your picture before painting. Drawing seems to be the skeleton of most paintings and yours are a good indication you do a decent drawing before hand.

    • @raeandrews1925
      @raeandrews1925  Před 4 lety +1

      Hi, it seems I did not answer this one and I’m very sorry I’ve only just noticed it. I draw in man-made structures always but I wouldn’t draw all the foliage that just comes out of the paint.... and when I draw the actual structure it’s really just to get the roofline and the windows the poles for the veranda , that sort of thing. It’s not a totally complete rendition of the house itself and the structures.
      Really most of my work comes out of the paint, that’s the way I prefer to work.

  • @janlynnthom620
    @janlynnthom620 Před 4 lety

    How do you keep from overworking an area or painting? I feel like l endup geting muddy, instead of depth? Really looking to painting. More loose, keeping defined depth and movement. Watercolor is new to me. Love the vibrancy and unexpected vulnerable, just not know when enough is enough. Thank you !🎨🙋‍♀️🖼💕

    • @raeandrews1925
      @raeandrews1925  Před 4 lety +1

      Hmm, that’s lot to address.. but here goes nothing.😊I find if you work in sections on a piece, like a jigsaw and don’t spend a huge amount of time on each section, you should not OVERWORK or get mud. I also work wet into dry method the most and this way, the colors I choose DONT get out of control.
      Along with leaving that white paper showing through, it stays pretty clean and not muddy.
      Of course you MUST know your colors too and how to mix them. Keep colors in the same family close together ..with that white left in places, later you can pop a complementary color in there to brighten up the whole composition.
