I got to experience this route twice over the past week, and it was such a blast! The snowfall made the drive extremely pleasant, as well as seeing some rare mountain fog. It's a toss-up between experiencing the brightness of summer or the snow coating the mountains!
You never know how good things really are, until you visit somewhere else that doesn't have such majestic geological wonders, like what one will see, when visiting the High Sierra. Thanks for stopping by and watching. :-)
Awesome video! I was trying to record it too! The road construction was really bad and the traffic was backed up in both directions. They split the Eastbound lanes into two parts near Emigrant Gap. They had one lane was used for trucks and buses that followed the eastbound lanes and the other lane, that was for cars, was moved onto the westbound lanes. The whole thing was a mess!!! I cant wait to return there next summer and record it if its finished! Cant wait to see your Donner Summit video!
"Stay tuned..." Oh, don't worry, I will always stay tuned. Awesome to see such huge mountains and spectacular views, I don't see them in The Netherlands ;) Keep the vids coming plz :D
I hardly even remember this road since I last traveled it in 2002! That is such an awesome ride, much improved over your first video coverage of it. Are you covering it out to Reno? Definitely another ride to pencil into my future log. Thanks for presenting!
one of my favorite stretches thru here they were doing construction in 2010 in the part 2 you described. I wonder if they are still doing it? love the video
you should go during march. the snow makes it soooo pretty. by the way, are you going to upload any us 50 vids through the sierra nevada toward lake tahoe?
tjhis s one of my faverate high ways I would love to see some thing on the old US 40is I 80 and oldUS 40 the same thing I would love to see some thing done on Ca.20 from Willets to Fort Bragg Ca. one of the curvest roads I have ever driven on .
lol, I can only imagine. I have a 2 year old myself; he's pretty well behaved and more observant than talkative...a perfect toddler to have in tow for a long drive!
Blows my mind all the work blazeing or blasting through those rocks and trees the original pioneers had
Nice view!

Great!
I drive this route every day... Never realized how beautiful it was I guess..
Those mountains are beautiful!!! And that is why I'm gonna stay in the western region until I die!!!

Nope not no more
Next time Record where is the water goes to Beautiful country beautiful state
I will travel here after 2weeks. Awesome! Expect!
This looks incredibly tempting to drive. Now the question is should I take US-395 or I-80 to Reno. Eric Schaat's Bakkery or this beautiful stretch.
It's the same as on I-80 west in New Jersey where it descends the Jenny Jump Mountains from exit 26-4
That's how I get to WinCo!
Are you ever going to do that Part 2?
What did you use to film this with?
Lol the road lane markings immediately get thicker when you enter Nevada.
You see most of the fires are whipping out all those trees over the years
C'est comme de la formule 1
like that video.
Wow c'est dangereux et exigeant en même temps
