  • I have been wanting to make a sailing ship since I built my last battleship.
I considered making a Diorama of a battle or the Columbus ships reaching the Americas. Then... I thought of the mythological.
Making small sailing ships is a challenge, as there are not many different models at a small scale. However, I found a model that is actually designed for the Armada Invincible sea battle game (which I am told, is no longer supported). The model kit is from Zvezda, which was on sale. I used oil paints to paint it, mixing light brown, deep red, sienna, black, and white.
I would list Tamiya colours, but I only used three: Black, Clear Blue (to paint the flexible LED), and Ocean Blue. The ocean was a mix of acrylics-green, blue, dark blue, black, and white-plus the Tamiya Ocean Blue as a final cover.
For the electronic part, I used resistors, LEDs, UV LEDs, and wires.
If you think about it, it is the same materials as always (with some changes here and there), but the imagination is what makes the magic.
    Enjoy.
