Trains were actually running on coal not oil so they were the most efficient way to supply troops for the Germans.

They did also produce synthetic gas from coal, ut it didnt work in aircraft and some other systems.
That was actually the main reason why Germany pushed for jets, jets could fly on liquid Brown coal, while piston aircraft could not.

During WW2 both sides used a variety of radio-controlled weapons, primarily in air operations. Most were glide bombs (V1, Henschel Hs 293, Fritz X, Aeronca GB Series, Azon VB-1) and had some success. The radio-controlled bombers (Project Aphrodite) were generally a failure.

Model was immediately like "ok, this is gonna go tits up real fast". And once the main part of the army was halted, Model went like "what did I say?! It went tits up! Lucky you have me and my bunkers..."
No wonder that he stayed relevant as a general even until the end of the war.

Joe Kennedy Jr died when something went wrong with the radio controlled B24 he took off. The control was not good enough for take off and he was suposed to parachute out after switching to radio control but the plane blew up. They think it was a case of HERO - Hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordinance, The switch to radio control triggered the detonators.

The last video you watched in the series was about the forgotten Battle of Wizna, and I would like to put in a word here about another mostly forgotten battle...a battle which historians are beginning to see as being the true largest tank battle in history. People have recently been looking back to the Battle of Brody that took place between June 23 and 30 between the Germans and the Soviets very early on during the German invasion of the USSR...and the numbers of tanks at Brody appear to be larger than the numbers that were involved at Kursk/Prokhorovka. The information is pretty new, and only some historians have come to view Brody as being bigger, so Kursk is still widely considered the largest tank battle...but it will be fascinating to see how the debate plays out over the next few years. Mostly I wanted to let you know about the debate, especially since almost nobody remembers the Battle of Brody, and ultimately, Kursk will maintain its iconic status due to many other reasons, even if it eventually (soon?) is relegated to only being the 2nd largest tank battle in history.👍

One last thing...some of us wanted to make sure that AmericansLearn is aware of the fact that Germany was running out of oil already in 1941, and that the fact that Germany needed ALL the oil that the USSR had, and not just what the Soviets would sell to the Germans, was probably the main economic reason behind why Germany absolutely had to invade the Soviet Union...and had to do it in 1941. There is a terrific video out that was made by TIK and it covers The MAIN reason why Germany lost WW2 - Oil...and Melkor and myself and others really wanted to make sure that you folks know about the video and will have a chance to see it. 💯

The radio controlled Goliath tanks were neat, but another surprise (as to how early technology was present) were guided Missiles fired from german Bomber Planes to sink Ships - these Missiles had a TV Camera in their nose and were steered by a dude on the Plane with Joystick in front of a TV Monitor. 😅

One quick note...Indy actually makes a little bit of a mistake in this one...a rare occurrence, and not a big mistake at all. At around 9:00 Indy talks about remote controlled demolition charges and a picture of a Goliath...but the Goliath was not radio controlled. There were 2 main versions of the Goliath, with one being powered by an electric motor and an upgraded version that used a gas motor...neither was radio controlled, however...both were controlled through a wired remote. However, there was a much larger remote controlled demolition vehicle that was used at Kursk in small numbers...it was called the Funklenkpanzer and it much more resembled a more normal light tank than the tiny sized Goliath did...the wireless radio control for the Funklenkpanzer had a range of up to about 2km.

USA was working on remotely controlled bombers during WW2, with one manned plane controlling entire formation of bombers.
Germans also had some remotely guided anti-ship gliding bombs.

Remot controll had been avalible for at least 20 year at rhat point. But it was glitchi and didnt work well.
Most of this equipment was not remote controlled in the way.of radio frqvency but rather wire guided.

The remote control was invented by Tesla is 1898. Also invented the 1st remote control vehicle (RC boat) and so having RC vehicles like that demolition tank in 1942 would seem pretty accurate

Нет, в 1943 союзники еще не вступили в бой на западном фронте, в этом ты не прав. Высадка в Нормандии была в 1944 году, а Курская Битва в 1943

I do not get the Sergei "joke" as you say you went to far. I understand Wagner DID try a revolt, and Prigozhin had stated in many video of the lack of supply. This is also coincide with fight at (Bahkmut) and Putin WANTING to incorporate Wagner into totality of Russia military. Prigozhin's stories can me taken at face value, or evaluated, did Sergei give direct order to MINE and destroy Wagner as they went to their two week rest? I do not believe so. One of the stipulations of Prigozhin's demands was to have Sergei removed, at which time I did not know if Putin would do so. He did not do so, so it lend credence that Sergei is not so bad after all. This is just my opinion as I believe Putin make right choices. Look at Russia Economy now, look at what Russia has turned into AFTER sanction by Wewst, crimmple sanction, now look. BRICS stronger then possible NATO (not in water) and RUble doing well. Cannot find enough people to fill jobs! Ban of LGBT propaganda, Putin know what is best for Country. If he trust Sergei, then I trust him and this mean Prigozhin talking lot of shit, and he try mutiny, and he got dealt with. Now Wagner official part of Russian Army.
You mention the oil, THIS WAS THE REASON WHY GERMANY WANTED THE CAUCASES!!!!!!! This was what it was ALL about, from desk to ten million men and equipment, to Hitler TELLING Stalin that "we will not attack", the thing was Stalingrad and it bleed Germany very hard, a complete embargo on Stalingrad, totally complete, Russia use river to bring in very small supply to civilian fighters! They dug themselves huge defensive positions using nothing but people and mules. Stalingrad was the point, Germany wanted to deliver big blow to Russia moral, Stalingrad would have been that blow, but we know how history went! Now this finale "push" was Germany's downfall in complete, the Nation would never recover during the war. The "not a step back" decree by Stalin, is confused in the West. Russian soldier was not shot in face for not facing enemy, it was more of "we provide enough soldiers to never lose ground", contrary to Western belief. Yes, some men were executed for cowardice but it was not this huge, broad swath of "If you even turned around your Officer would shoot you", that is just a myth. I add that many Countries, INCLUDING AMERICA, CANADA, GREAT BRITAIN, ECT held the same standard and what they called "fragging" happening MORE in Western Nations than Russia.
