It 's often the undercarriage what seems to be under developed and breaks..or doesn't work or partially.. during a landing attempt

startazz Thanks. Yeah the Vulcan was because one of the engines seized but the fuel pump kept going hence the long flame. Pilot shut down all the engines and glided it home. It's a big wing so not so difficult to judge. Nice wind down the runway on that day to slow it down. Cheers.

I was shocked to see the Futura jet in here.. as I've never seen one crash. Thankfully it didn't. :)

The pilot at 3:00 did a good job if my thousands and thousands of pounds worth of rc jet was on fire in the air I think I would of panicked and ballsed it up well done pilot

Why the they never flare
Why do lots of rc plane have to suffer with landing gears failure, its annoying

Excuse my ignorance, but does one need a license for some of these?Couldn't they be weaponised?
+zaikoji Licence? If over 20KG they have to be inspected and approved to fly under scheme overseen by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) but otherwise no. Most RC pilots are members of a club which is affiliated with the British Model Flying Association which provides insurance against things that can go wrong. It's like anything if you do something illegal like fly into and damage property then you'd be in trouble if it's proven you were operating unsafely. The last question is stupid really. Rubbish crashes funny pilots
By showing these crashes to the modelling fraternity, you are hopefully helping them to avoid the same thing happening to their own models. But have you thought about what you're demonstrating to the general public (non-model flyers or anti- model flyers) without explaining what exactly was wrong with the 'arrival' of a particular aircraft? It might be obvious to an r/c modeller, but anyone else? Entertaining it might be if you're addicted to schadenfreude.
You're actually giving them ammunition to give to the local councils how 'irresponsible' and 'childish' we might be and persuade them to prevent any club operating in their vicinity. Do not delude yourselves that it doesn't happen!
By all means, show your 'oops' moments, but why the hell revel in them? There's nothing clever about crashing an aircraft. If it crashes, explain why it happened, to the innocent public, one of whom who may be on the next council committee you're trying to get permission from to open a model r/c flying club. I'm not suggesting you cover up the potential risks involved, let's face it, it's one of the reasons we get involved. But for goodness' sake don't extol the apparent wanton destruction just in the name of 'entertainment'. Actively promote training/instruction to potential newcomers. Give them directions. This sport is supposed to be fun. What's wrong with making it constructive fun? If you blithely continue without considering the consequences, we could see our model flying sites decimated.
