  • If the instrument cluster on your Kia Sportage isn't lighting up when you turn on the ignition or start the engine, it might be due to a blown fuse. In this video, I'll guide you through locating the instrument cluster fuse, testing it, and replacing it if necessary.
You'll find the fuse for the instrument cluster in the passenger compartment fuse box, located on the dashboard next to the driver's door. Start by gently pulling out the fuse box cover using the handle.
Inside the cover, you'll see a diagram. Look for the fuse labeled "CLUSTER," which is a 10-ampere fuse. Use needle-nose pliers or a fuse puller to carefully remove this fuse.
Inspect the fuse closely. If the metal strip inside is broken or melted, the fuse is blown. For a more precise check, use a multimeter set to continuity or resistance mode. Place the probes on each end of the fuse. A reading of 'OL' indicates a blown fuse, while zero resistance means the fuse is good.
If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new 10-ampere fuse. If you don't have a spare, you can find one in the engine compartment fuse box. Insert the new fuse securely into the slot.
After replacing the fuse, turn on your vehicle to see if the instrument cluster lights up. If the new fuse blows again, there might be a deeper electrical issue that requires further investigation.
