- CARTAGENA SPAIN | Walking Tour | Wonder of the Seas | EXCURSION IDEA explores the mediterranean port city by foot. We walk from the ship to all the historical sites such as the Roman Theater, Conception Castle and Calle Mayor (shopping and restaurants). It is a good excursion to see what the city has to offer when time is limited, such as on a cruise stop!
Cartagena is located right outside the cruise port and is very easy to navigate. It is a charming city and offers a lot of shopping and good food! The Cartagena Walking Tour requires walking on marble streets, cobblestone, some uneven surfaces and all there is a lot of standing. A few people in our group couldn't manage this and left the tour.
I find Cartagena Spain to be full of history and a city that has about 250,000 people in and around it. The city tour is informative and enjoyable.

We r taking a TA on holland America in November this year. How did you know what direction to go in because you seem to have seen a lot. There is a shore excursion that is available but if we can walk…why not?
The town is not that big. The Roman ruins are spectacular and are super close to the ship. The elevator park we went to is just to the right of the ship and across the street and up a block. We started with a walking guide. It is just a big circle and easy to get around. I really liked it. There are maps posted once you exit the ship. Looking at the town straight on, the left past Burger King is shopping and restaurants. The right is the ruins and view from above with the elevator. Just ask people. It’s euros and people are friendly. Nice place! Enjoy!! ☀️🚢

Hi again. Did yr tour take you to both areas. The ruins n the shopping? Or did you do the shopping after the ruins on yr own? Reason I ask is because I want to see the ruins n do shopping n I’m not sure if the tour included both or they drop you off back to the ship n then you have to walk back out? Thanks for yr help
@@Joanv314 my tour took me took the elevator scenic skyline, the ruins and then walked us thru an area of shopping 🛍, with an option to do our own thing and go back to the ship on our own, or go back with him. It was a very easy walk back in our own. That’s when I discovered the shopping and things after we left the group. They have restaurants and all kinds of things to buy. I think if you kind of have an idea of what you’re looking for, you can buy your things with plenty of time to get back to the ship. I think our tour was a few hours, and we spent the other part shopping and looking at everything. We tried to find wifi! (Burger King purchase will give you that) fyi! Have fun!
