You should put a filter box inside the lake, ideally floating just below the surface (so it picks up neither sediment nor surface grime) with a valve right next to the pond, so that you can open and close the valve without having to get wet. This also gives you a very easy spot to tie into in case you ever add another source of water (like a second pond)

For the rope that you use in the end for the bridge :
If you put the whole rope in water (for like 15-30 min.)before making the bonding, it will be stronger afterwards and more durable.
The reason herefore is: If it is wet the rope gets loose. When you bond it while it is wet, the rope can dry after you finished and the bonding will be even stronger, even If it rains. (I commenly use this for benches, or similar things where you dont need nails or bolts, in German Forrests for hikers & Tourists)

Hey good people, I have a couple of suggestions for you. Since you have a lot of firewood, I think it would be good to make a rocket stove for cooking. It consumes little fuel and gives a good temperature, it can even be with an oven. You can use the material for it you can also find it at a place where metal is recycled. And for heating water, you can make a couple of solar collectors, for example from old refrigerators.
    Greetings from Serbia✌️

    • @nickfosterxx
      @nickfosterxx Před 3 měsíci

Yes, rocket stoves for tea, coffee, cooking every time, quick and efficient.
For showers, larger quantities etc, I made a short narrow trench and lit a very small fire there, long sticks poking out, push/pull for more/less heat. Stand a big metal dustbin across the trench in the morning, fill with hose water, and soon you'll have the equivalent of a domestic hot water cylinder running all day. Insulate at night. Minimal effort. Just dip a bucket when you need some. No unsightly plastic.

    some recommendations:
    1. Pizza owen - use different ratio of sand to the clay.
Use for next time also liquid glass to the mixture for more durability. You can use fiber glass to fix broken area or chicken wire under plasters. But crack which you opened must be also bended on sides between crack sides ( inside plaster).
If you want better quality of plasters use several layers and keep them dry first between every of other layers.
Best idea for fixing is put chicken wire on the top and put layer of plaster again and on the top optional is broken roof tiles or bathroom tiles like decoration and for streangth.
In the connection area of the owen and chimney you miss the connection piece. it has connection piece in the middle wider aprox 2-3 cm all around. it will fix the chimney pipe and also there is fire proof rope on lower part which fill gaps. and last think add the piece of the metal on the top of the door frame to keep smoke out of clay and go directly up not touching owen from outside.
    2. the paths are nice, but is better to put wood pieces to lindseed oil, especially parts which will be under the ground and aprox 5 cm on the top of ground. the closer wood is to the ground faster rotten will be. Better is to charing it in the fire. Charcoal make it water proof and more durrable. And last thing, good is that the bridge is on the stones, but better will be charing that parts because they will be most of the year wet where are connections. Lindseed oil is good also like preservation, but better before construction than after. Especially the rope will not last long like this. better to put rope inside lindseed oil, squeez it and after do work for next time. The moisture will destroy rope fast.

Bonjour. Daniel

You can use old concrete pipes as water culvert and level above the pipe with natural soil, that bridge looks fun, good job

    hey guys,
a small idea to prevent you guys to search for the pipe in the pond
if you can tie a floating "bidon" (Dutch) with a rope; you can just follow the rope and find the tube.
and if you tie the bidon big enough with enough length of rope and closer to the end, it should provide you a bit more controlled water, since floating bidon help pipe to float closer to the surface, not to the bottom
    hope it works!

pattage would be lashing i believe. most common use would have been to secure 3 poles to make a tripod. thanks for the vids..you will probably want to isolate your water inlet somthing like run it into the bottom of a barrel and screen the open top of it to keep it from clogging a valve at the top would also be a good idea.

I must admit, I much prefer the videos that are most focused on the original members of project camp. They have a more realistic outlook and down to earth vibe that the new comers and temporary visitors do not have. Not to say I dislike the enthusiasm of newcomers, but the grit and realism it takes to last through winters and hard times while living minimally build up character
Much love, from my 0.8acres is wales, we have alot in common 😉

Those steps look fine, much better than the slippery slope. Good job at fixing the oven for this season! I still think building a new pizza/bread oven next to fixing the old one was the best solution. 2 ovens! More pizza, more bread and more dry working/hanging out places for the increased number of campers during the summer.

Place the ends of the bridge upon rocks, then it won’t rot so fast. Notching the cross beams will make it more stable. Glad someone got around to making bridges though

You might want to store your bowls upside down on the shelf, so that no mice fall into it or bugs or dust. Then all you have to do is give the bowl a quick wipe when you want to use it.

Water dowsing (aka witching, or divination) is pretty easy and might help find underground pipes. I did it to find the water pipe from my well to my house a few years ago when there was an underground leak. It can also be used to find underground electrical wires. I used 2 pieces of metal coat hangers bent into an L shape, but there are other ways to do it. I bet someone in camp kamp can figure it out if no one knows already. Or one of your neighbors can probably do it. There are also several devices that can find them, but they can be expensive.

You'll most likely regret that trench as the water over time will slowly erode till it's a large trench.. Same was done on my driveway about 20 years ago. I've had to move the driveway over, also had to have 3, 12.5 ton Dump trucks of gravel to bring the driveway back to a decent height and at least 20 tons of dirt to fill the trench which once was like yours.. Best method for moving water is to put in 'speed bumps'. Dirt swails that direct the water across the land instead of funnelling it.

Putting flower next to an area with embers/fire is very dangerous. You should keep that very far away from the oven.

Those pipes could serve as a nice overflow/irrigation system. Make some swales or something at the outflows and you could control the exesss waterflow in the property. If they are in good shape you could start planning a whole irrigation system around the pond and the connecting pipes. Great way to distribute water and get some valuable plants growing near/around the outlets.
And for the oven maybe you could try pouring some clay slurry in to the new cracks. If they are too wide all the way thru maybe put some of the "cement" on the inside. I don't know for sure tho. I have never worked with clay ovens like this 😅
All in all I love the projekt and all the videos. I truly hope you make this thrive.

If you tie a float to the pond-end of the pipe it will be easier to find. It will also keep it elevated from the bottom of the pond to make sure it doesn't get clogged with mud at the bottom!
