Hello, for surface mounted components it is easier to put a bit of solder on one pad first, then place the component and melt the solder.

I LOVE the Sotabeam guys - have several of their antennas - but for those that don't want to buy a kit you can find a gajillion sources for building your own 49:1 Balun. Think the last one I built cost me about $15 (most of that the cost of the 43 type core and box I used to enclose it). Good video! 73

Peter, I have to say your home made QRP tuner makes more sense than this tuner per the cost and use! Using the fixed chokes and using two selectable caps makes yours lots more versatile than this one. This one is just a kit that most could build if they try! But again I'd rather see ones like your DIY unit at QRP gatherings than this one, for so many reasons. If several bands are being used designs like your DIY unit could allow the use on the bands not being used. But with this one your stuck to one band and may end up being just an observer rather than an operator at an event. A big THANK YOU for another great video. BTW am in Florida right now snow birding with my squid pole and Ten Tec R4030 radio, hope to work you on 40 meters. 73 Jimmy, ARRL TS, WX9DX

Unfortunately when I checked 0n 14-10-2020 they are no-longer stocked, but the assembly manual can be used to make your own, it seems to be a good little project! But - Perhaps they were not selling enough to hold in stock.

Great video Peter, tempted to buy one and give it a go. I have not does long wire before, but this sounds like a great idea. 73's VK6FCJB.

That looks like a great little coupler. I may get one for the modular 40m QRP rig from QST.
I thought your name sounded familiar -- I've had Minimum QRP for a while now. Great read!

It may have been phased out. Trimmer capacitors are getting harder to source.
