Windows 8 in 2024 - Is it worth it?

Who remembers when Windows 8 came out in 2012? Everyone hated it and stayed with Windows 7. Today, I will be trying out Windows 8 in 2024. And we will see how it turns out.

Windows 8 ironacly has Areo code in DWM. you can see that the taskbar is transparent. replacing DWM with the one from Windows 8 Release Preview shoud give the blurry transparency back.

You really shouldn't, as the video says it's out of support, you're leaving yourself open to viruses, get Windows 10 or 11 instead

Im running windows 8.1 on RTX 3060 i switched 3 days ago and its awesome though roblox has bad fps drops probably something to do with the bootleg ahhhhh drivers i have

Windows 8 is the only os where i kinda agree that it was a pretty bad os
Well not bad but it was bery complicated to use to me
I haven't tried to fully use yet, like for basic use (if you know what i mean😅)
But when i upgraded to windows 8.1 it was so much better and easier
Vista wasn't too bad for me (still not recommended to use) i felt blessed with it's beauty and those ultimate extras left me shocked and it surprised me
W11 i like the features such as mspaint and notepad but i kinda hate that there are so many unnecessary ms security/account stuff
It's kinda sad that w 10 will end it's support in 2025 that os was a 10/10 for me i loved it

For vmware tools installation to fail you need to restart after oobe and then install vmware tools, it happened to me with windows 8.1

Firefox is still supporting Windows 8.
even edge does but its an old version from late 2023

Firefox is still supported with ESR. The regular version is stuck at v115.

Hey i have a question, how did you get the set up screen in vmware? I only got the setup screen in virtualbox because it uses standard install but vmware uses easy install so it just skips the setup. Any way to get the setup on vmware?

When you are creating the virtual machine, in the ISO selection screen, select "I will install the operating system later". And at last, before clicking finish, click on "Customize Hardware", find CD/DVD and select your ISO file. Then you can see the setup screen.

Im using my old pc running windows 11 on my new SSD and Vitrualbox lags on my hardware so i choose my old HDD

Just search Windows 8 ISO and find the archive.org link. That’s what I did. Though make sure your PC is supported. Windows 8 works on any PC but goes up to a 2013 PC with all drivers
