  • This is my first video using my GoPro Hero 3. The camera is mounted to the stinger of a 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. The GoPro was set to 1080p at 30fps. The video was taken traveling from just off the pavement in Mt. Crested Butte, Co. to Marble, Co. over Schofield Pass. The footage was sped up 5 times on about an hour and a half trip.

Schofield Pass is open again after years of closure. Looks like there is nothing hard or difficult? My Uncle lived in Colorado his whole adult life and everyone thought this was a very hard and difficult pass to run safely. Hmmm, should I drive it? In my lifted 4runner???

I live outside Marble toward Redstone. The only thing I'd have to say is...
By Law in Colorado, Uphill hill traffic is given the right of way. The Devil's PunchBowl section toward the end is the most technical part. Meeting anyone along the way means having to back up until the other vehicle can safely pass. A Bitch!
    Nice video. Nice job.
    Think about that next time!

Just opposite from where you have to cross the river (I did it in bare feet across the rocks), in the bushes is the bumper & axel of an old car on its roof. Don't know how long it has been there. Don't know if anyone was killed or if anyone else knows about it. It looks like cystal mill to marble is an easier hike then from the schofield pass sign to the crystal mill. Only hiked from the sign to crystal mill.

Can someone please tell me why everyone wants to speed up the video. A lot of people just want to go along for the ride and see beautiful scenery. I mean I think Co has the prettist scenery and the mountians are just beautiful plus a lot of people want to see the shape of the road to determine if their rig will do well on it and going along at 5 times the speed does not help guys like me. You see, I am a flat lander who just can't wait to get back "up there" to do a little wheeling. The other months of the year we have mall Jeeps just waiting to get back on the rocks again.

probably because the video would be a little long. 19x5, you do the math. If you want to see this area in real time there's other videos out there.

Nice video. I'm a flatlander who's heading out to this area this summer and I knew about this trail and had seen videos of sections of it and thought that it may just be a little too much, but after seeing this video I'm eager to tackle it. One question, no part of this trail is one way is it?

No but there is a short section (Devil's Punchbowl & the shelf road) where it's only wide enough for 1 vehicle and you can't see if anyone is coming. The vehicle going uphill has right of way so you need to be prepared to possibly have to reverse out if you're driving down that section.

It looks like a full size truck fit on that trail?

TheStephenspann27 I've seen pictures of a Hummer H1 on this trail however it is fairly narrow through the Devil's Punchbowl.
