Ironic that they were talking about how Toney’s power was being questioned, when the guy that was heavyweight champ at that time would be KO’d by Toney a dozen years later!
Toney threw 18 jabs in the 1st round, Hearns only landed 3 jabs in the 1st v DeWitt! Toney`s combo`s were great here but his hand speed was about 7/10! The commentator stated Toney never fights 3 mins of each round that would have cost him against a fighter like GGG! Trump sitting next to Roy Jones wonder where that will lead?! Ha! "Trump has an eye for spotting superstars."
Anyone know the name of the song or background music playing in the beginning? It starts about 4 seconds in until 1:14. HBO used that music on other occasions, I liked it and would like to know who it's by? Appreciate any replies...
I couldn't have seen Doud Dewitt winning the fight he could have made this a tough fight he wanted, but he obviously had his elsewhere,he looked thoroughly bored!
He didn't start taking PEDs until he tore his biceps in 2004 during the Rydell Booker fight. Winning that fight earned him a heavyweight title bout with, then, champion John Ruiz... his biggest fight since the Roy Jones fight nearly 11 years before (Jirov was an unknown champion, and Holyfield was past his prime). So, to repair the biceps, he took stanozolol. He started boxing in 1988, won three championships before the Ruiz fight, and had already established himself as an all time great. So, PEDs didn't play a factor in his career until his best years and fights were behind him.
Imagine how good Dewitt would have been if he punched back.

Ikr like if somebody would've said that day JT was going to ko Holyfield one day nobody would've believed it
Good fighters
Doug was getting on but Tony was class
Larry Merchant is such a weasel..no kryptonite in this fight or the feb 93 fight. Toney put on a clinic in that fight. Merchant was a fraud.
Man that Dewitt was one tough dude
I just met Doug at a stop light I had to look and see

Watch the Jirov fight. Toney threw over a hundred punches a round. And that's a decade after this.
20:53. Yup, iron chin.
he took an even more flush shot right on the button and just ate it. That's one of the sturdiest chins I've ever seen
ph1484 sometimes when the white guys have a lot of hair the punches look even worse.
He took a lot of hard shots from jt .
Oh my he took some earth shattering shots oww

20:43, 21:06 the hitman
Love how that pos merchant goes completely silent for 20 seconds after asking and being told by Letterman what really was happening @ 26:43
He asked him a question and let him answer. What the hell are you talking about?
@@Ffeoli1039 self explanatory.
@@danielvazquez7482 so, you think it's abnormal to listen to an answer after asking a question?
@@Ffeoli1039 the disingenuous invitation is of no interest to me.

How pathetic; commentators don’t know if they should make excuses or Doug or put Toney down. It’s disgusting to listen to.
Agreed
James Toney was very good, but he never had his weight in check. He also took a lot of PEDS.
No he didn't take a lot of PEDs, stop the lies

Tony was a cheat. Great skills but still a cheat
Cheated how and when?
@@martytdd1606 Probably talking about steroid use later in his career.
When I see his, nose I change my mind, about boxing.
