    Ordering wings at 12am to watch Letterman in college up in Boston with some of the funniest people I'll ever know... The opening credits from 90 to 94 will always bring back those great memories.

    Yeah, and Paul and the band elongated the ending of the theme some point in 1984 and further on from there when Anton first joined up.

    This theme was also used on CBS's "Late Show with David Letterman" first year. but later a slightly different arrangement.

    Does anyone have any context on how late this aired. I'm taking a guess that it aired at 2 or 3am depending on whether they preempted The Tonight Show as well...

      James Campton it came on 1230a to 130a on west coast. no show on Friday night because of Friday night videos. for those of us with no cable that's how we got our videos.

    I loved Dave back then, It was the most creative thing on TV at the time. Shame he sucks so bad now.
