It seems to have gone over some heads so to be clear, these are the best 15-20 new weapons (from our testing/in our opinion) in the DLC ranked against each other. Not literally all 100 on a Tier List which would be ridiculous.
Still no Beast Claws or Hand to Hand Arts but you put the Poison/Mad Hands on the lists that are more talismans than weapons!
@@PaulRaiiin15 They're damn good 'talismans' is the thing and they are still weapons so here we are. Sadly beast claws & hand-to-hand struggle to compete with other options even though we love them conceptually.

I can confirm BloodFiend's Arm is till S+ just cleared dlc in NG7 no summons RL345 Str/Arc with BloodFiend's as my main and killed last boss in under an hour.

Timestamps kill the overall engagement with videos and is terrible for creators. You pop in, click on the timestamp you want, watch it and then leave. The youtube algorithm sees this as poor performance because you only watch a fraction of the video and then starts to throttle the exposure of all the creator's content.

Every video and wiki source keeps misleading people about the ancient meteoric ore greatsword, the ash damage does NOT directly scale by 12% from the magic scorpion talisman, instead you get 12% bonus only to the tiny magic AR present on the weapon and that tiny bonus shows up in the ash damage also, nothing more - a quick 2 minute test on any elden ring enemy proves this

Fextralife wiki actually correctly points out using the magic scorpion charm is not beneficial at all.
A lengthy note on the thrusting shield example from the video: If you wanna go for that kind of playstyle, I suggest instead to go for a Fingerprint Stone Shield + Occult Seppuku Cross-Naginata setup (you can use the Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear instead of the Cross-Naginata if you dont wanna bother with Seppuku, it has a baseline 55 bleed build up but the Occult Seppuku Cross-Naginata will be stronger in my experience).
Go for defensive / stamina talismans like Greatshield talisman, Double Turtle talisman, Dragoncrest Greatshield talisman and finally something like Lord of Blood's Exultation for some extra damage.
You will need 12 Intelligence in order to buff your shield with Scholar's Shield to further improve its guard and its magic damage negation.
If your level allows it, add some Faith to round up the build with extra buffs like Bestial Vitality, specific resistance buffs depending on the boss, and of course your usual combo of Golden Vow + Flame, Grant Me Strength for extra damage and damage negation. Keep in mind that Flame, Grant Me Strength and resistance buffs MUTUALLY EXCLUSIVE, so you have to decide if you want extra defense or extra damage. Also, Flame Grant Me Strength and Golden Vow have higher Faith requirements but more on that later.
Seal and Staff choice doesn't matter cause we're only buffing and buffs potency doesn't scale with anything but I suggest either the Dragon Communion Seal or the Frenzied Flame Seal since they weight 0 Miyazakis and the Albinauric Staff because it's one of the lightest weighting 2.5 Miyazakis.
So, attributes points should go towards:
- 50-55 Vigor (You can go a bit lower on Vigor with this build as you wont be trading with bosses and overall you're gonna take very little damage but it's good to have a good amount in case something goes wrong and/or for general quality of life, I wouldn't go for less than 50);
- 15-20 Mind for quality of life, you could probably get away with a bit less;
- For Endurance I personally like to go for 30-40 for energy and equip load reasons (this build is somewhat energy intensive as you will be blocking while attacking with the spear);
- 48 Strength to meet the shield requirements;
- Dexterity required for your weapon of choice (20 for the Cross-Naginata, 12 for the Bloodfiend's Sacred Spear);
- 12 Intelligence to have access to Scholar's Shield;
- 12/15/25 Faith for buffs, depending on your level and how many points you can spare (12 for Bestial Vitality + specific resistance buff, 15 for Flame Grant me Strength but remember that it will cancel your specific resistance buff and viceversa, 25 for Golden Vow. More on this below);
- 60-70 Arcane to boost your damage, I would try to get to 60 ASAP and then eventually get to 70 once you're done with the other stats, maybe before increasing Faith to 25 but honestly it's personal preference.
The build is somewhat stat hungry as you can see, if you arent high enough level to cover all of the stats, I suggest lowering your faith to 12 as the other attributes are more important and ignore Golden Vow / Flame Grant Me Strength until you are high enough level to grab those.
Don't forget to wear your White Mask for an extra 10% damage whenever you proc bleed (Seppuku will proc both White Mask and Lord of Blood Exultation while prebuffing, giving you a head start at the beginning of a fight) and wear the highest mitigation armor that your equip load allows you to.
Lastly, for the Wondrous Physicks Flask I suggest using the Greenburst Crystal Tear for extra stamina regen and the Thorny Cracked Tear for extra damage.
And that's it! The gameplay is simple and effective. I wouldn't bother buffing too much for normal enemies, the extra guard from Scholar's Shield wont be necessary for normal enemies, I'd use Golden Vow more freely tho as it lasts a long time, 80 seconds IIRC, and Seppuku before approaching dangerous enemies like flame knights for example to proc buffs from White Mask and Lord of Blood Exultation; After buffing, you just keep your shield up and poke with the spear, taking absolutely no damage while clapping bosses with bleed procs. Just mind your stamina and be careful if you need to rebuff mid fight since the animation for Scholar's Shield is pretty long and Seppuku will damage you for 100 + 15% of your max HP.

Your tier list is relatively solid!there’s a couple weapons here I would like to try out soon, I appreciate your diligent work keep up the informative content.
I think the ancient meteoric ore greatsword is severely underrated in this list. It has the Zweihander moveset, which is the best Colossal moveset in the game imo (yes, even over the Fire Knight/Godslayer). And while the arcane requirement with magic damage seems weird at first, it actually works really well because the arcane increased the physical damage as well as the magic damage. So you want to get your strength to 54 to have effectively 80 while two handing, and then pump the rest of your damage points into arcane to make this thing hit like a truck. At 54 str and 35 arcane, I hit an AR of 911 and the majority of that is pure physical, with about 130 points being magic. Comparatively, a heavy infused greatsword will hit 884 at 80 strength.
All of this is further improved by the sheer versatility of the ash of war. The fact that you can attack directly out of the lunge without doing the explosion gives this incredible utility in PVE and PVP. You can go for the explosion, an R1, a crouch R1, an R2, whatever the situation calls for. The sheer versatility afforded by the Ash of War, coupled with the monster damage output you can get makes this the best colossal sword in the game right now imo.
White Glint stay winning. The only downside on this monster is the sheer weight of it, but it's ridiculously good.
The R1 is even faster then a normal R1 if you don't use the explosion. It feels faster.
nope the sword is very weak
i have used it for around 100 hours in pvp and pve alike and even with dozens of buffs and the right talismans, this weapon just sucks
i am on lvl 713 with all 20 levels of the scadutree on the base game difficulty and the max i can deal is around 3k for the weapon art for a regular enemy and around 800-900 in pvp
it just sucks, so many weapons are stronger
furthermore the aow really misses often, it isnt a true combo and it is also slow with bad scaling
for the love of god, if you dont hate yourself, dont use it

Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword is absolutely cracked. These new bosses love jumping away, so being able to stay on their ass and keep them from using their long range bs is very useful

facts. Besides the final boss, this weapon absolutely carried me through the game. It should be high A or low S in my opinion.

Right??? It's better Dynast's Finesse/Quickstep due to the directional input and the follow ups do much more stance than you'd expect.
I haven't seen a single video featuring that weapon tbh, I've been looking to see people's thoughts on it but I guess it's just going under the radar

it is because you have a very long follow up combo where you can get hit easily 8n pvp for example
the weapon itself is veeeeeeeey weak and has low bleed buildup
the starting dodge of the aow looks cool but is useless
the helice is still way stronger and you are still better off using the grave scythe with swords dance
i can't agree with this. some of the reasonings here are weird. meteoric ore greatsword can't be paired well with seals so it's that low? it has an ash of war with infinite hyperarmor that will chase dodging enemies and deals huge stance damage. it has high damage overall and great attacks all around. yet low because of seals? sword of night sohuldn't be that high. it's good, but the ash of war is just a weaker version of the winged stance with some extra effects. using a milady with bleed gives higher overall damage and does more stagger. ansbach bow should go much higher. the damage poteential and status potential is outrageous and it has fantastic scaling, yielding really high damage when using the right arrows against the right enemies. the deft knight longaxe should go quite a bit higher due to it's good base damage and long immunity frames with the ash of war, it's also buffed by the armor set alongside it yielding even more damage, i've been able to crank out damage in the 5-8k range with minimal effort. fire knight's greatsword is literally one of the best weapons in the entire game because of it's ridiculous base damage and ash of war boosting capabilities. backhand blades are just worse curved swords, less damage and worse motion values for bleed buildup. falx on the other hand is an easy S+ weapon. it has by far the highest dps potential of any weapon added in the dlc, just pair it with some heavy armor and wreak havok
I totally agree with Sword of Night. I have been trying it for a while because of the cool AoW effect, but even with the stance buffing talisman, shard of Alexander and Rotten Wing insignia equipped and fully charged, it still does very unimpressive damage. For example, against Fire Prelate in the Mountaintop in NG+4, a fully charged AoW only reduces 1/8 ~ 1/7 of his total hp, and that's not even a boss. And the bleed buildup is also very meh.
And yeah also 100% agrees with Falx. I ditched Sword of Night and changed to Falx and the damage output + bleed efficiency is multiple tiers apart. It's so good.
Claws of Night are being slept on big time. Been using them for most of the DLC and love them

I like these check-in videos. Especially for someone like me who is in and out of the game dje to priorities. These youtubers are constantly play testing, making new builds and synergies. So its nice tune in and get a video like this that tells me what to go for next time i jump on and create a great build.

Milady carried my through the whole dlc
The Smithscript Cirque were pretty good prenerf, on Sacred/Magic/Flame Art affinity they had 200 more AR than the regular backhand blade, and their guard counter was a throw with a backstep which made them very mobile with blind spot being a gap closer, whereas the backhand blade's guard counter is like an all in dash similar to the Revenger's Blade Ash of War. These are the only weapons I've seen to have a special moveset on a guard counter, its almost like having a second ash of war on the weapon, never seen these in the vanilla weapons, is it that uncommon?
They're good, but only people who like them try them out. There's a few videos bashing all smithscript weapons, and the brain rotted masses chose not to use them.

I felt the same way about Devonia's Hammer
I normally play with swords or spears, but I thought... what if I tried big bonk? Dual wielding Anvil Hammer + Devonia's Hammer. It was so much fun, I was laughing just telling bosses to sit down. It was a killing spree. I went into new game (3rd journey) and it was like a speedrun. In about 4 hours, I think unlocked all the areas in the main game + I reached the DLC. Big bonk good! 😀
Great katana should be A tier. Solid AR, native bleed, can set affinity...use with repeating thrust and you have single ash bleed procs
It’s scaling is dope too, I think people are sleeping on it. Flame Spear/Skewer on it with Flame Art is a lot of fun, and has that solid AR you mentioned.
@oldscratch2506 that was my main build for most of my first.play through- super strong and fun. Definitely one of the better builds In the game

Today I learned I'm a B-Tier enjoyer. Most of what I used in my playthrough was Blacksteel Hammer and Meteroric Greatsword. Lion's Claw on the hammer was really good and the greatsword ash is really fun to dash around with.
Did i miss the Final Boss remembrance weapons? Why were they precluded?
The executioners great axe has a great buff that turns all heavy attacks into charged attacks. With the Bloodfiend arm is WRECKS bosses
I'm still using 2x Magma Blade. This is the highest DPS build without the long "casting" time from the Bloodfiend Arm. It has like +20-30% DPS compared to BA.

Sword of darkness is almost terrible. It's as disappointing as the range of blades of stone.
For some reason when I boot up the game on my new super PC - It starts off in beautiful ultra wide with slight black fading towards the edges.
Then after 2 minutes it has a slight lag and then just full square screen with solid black bars on the side.
I can't help to be very sad that the apparently very supported UW aspect ratio is not supported and they just jam these black bars in.
Spear of the Impaler in the same tier as Renallas Swords is straight up insane.

nah the disrespect my goat weapon the shadow sunflower blossom not making the list is crazy, the thing has some nutty AR, great attacks as well as a NUTTY AoW, i can count on one hand the amount of times i've been knocked out of it's ash of war since getting it plus the thing hits like a damn TRUCK, with the AoW alone you can chew through the toughest enemies hell i can even one shot omens in the sewers in leyendell with this thing on NG+1 no sweat with no buffs put some respect on the flower!
Its probably one of the best twinblades in the dlc.
Well yeah, there's only 2 of them. At worst is the second best twinblade (though i guess it can be seen as the worst as well) though i think it's better than Euporia because you can change AoW on it. It has similar AR to the Gargoyle twinblade but much longer (and looks way better). Been using two in a bleed/Frost build with the Crucible wings AoW
i still find it funny how often i exactly builded stuff from videos and i always deal peanuts for damage. Even if i fully buff with the new madness talisman and shabiri howl i still deal peanuts for damage.
Same here but also can be the new game that you are on. Im dealing shit damage with half these weapons even building really well because im on ng+8
It really depends on your level and how many scadutree blessings you have, these things scale your damage very noticeably. Im around the end of the DLC at level 230 or so with lvl 15 scadutree blessings and I'm doing significantly more damage than I see in most of the builds videos with the same setup.
@@Bzk-- yeah i have all 20 i absolutely had to against the final boss and i honestly recommend you do the same bro lol i was at 17 going into the boss fight and was getting stomped but i give that to being new game 8 ya feel. Once i collected all 20 though i stood a little bigger of a chance it was actually a very noticeable difference at 20 than at 17 lol

That first arc slash in the Ash of War demolished the open world for me.
The only thing that should be changed on the bow is that its damage should go higher then it is if you land more shots and the amount of status build it should be based on how many shots hit as well... but if they were to lower the damage of the art then they would have to also lower the amount of arrows it uses cause 8 per shot for pathetic damage isnt going to fly

Neither. Go bleed and you can stagger bleed in 2 hits
I would confidently say to go with Keen because you cannot cast Bloodflame Blade on occult affinity weapons.
There's a couple of fun underrated ones.
The Crucible hammer may take forever to wind up its version of the Ordovis Greatsword ash, but it has a ridiculous lingering hitbox that hits three times and does a mountain of damage.
Metyr finger hammer got a ton of damage from the faith fix. It's basically a better Ruins Greatsword, because its ash scales up with more than weapon level.
I was having crazy fun with the finger hammer tbh the ash of war is nuts too and can crank whole groups of enemies
@@joshlong6733 As I said. Ruins Greatsword, but actually good beyond early/midgame due to scaling. If you like that weapon this one is the (Str)IntFai high level late game successor, especially for high NG+ when casters start going 80/80 to get PoD and Golden Order scaling (or to get the Great Beyond to 354 for actual endgame usability).
I wasn't expecting a giant grug hammer to be a spellblade-type option, but hey, why not? Also the description is hilarious. You literally just killed the mom of all those fingers who kept giving you nonsensical fake instructions, cut off her head and put it on a stick, and then just started killing everything by making her even saltier about losing.
I think the strong attack animation is unique too - a little slower because they animated something special for making the head "bow", but it seems to do ridiculous damage in return.

I use the ancient meteoric ore with a staff death spells actually ancient death rancor stuffs enemies and I charge with the swords ash nothing survives.

From all the things in the game the only thing I really hate is bleed and how op it is since the start of the game
I feel like people are sleeping on the Putrescence Cleaver. It's not super broken, but the ash of war is really entertaining and it feels pretty strong overall, especially if you continue to level up past 150.
How do you do all those damage with Bloodfiend Arm? Ash of war scaling? And damage stat?
I'm confused by this also, he says Raw, which raw infusion isn't even in Elden ring and he refers to an ash of war I know nothing about and cant find online lol
@@benbussell154 you just get enough stats to use the weapon, 80 arcane, everything else vigor and endurance. You can use endure if you just want to facetank and spam charged r2 or you can use royal knights resolve for huge damage, blood affinity. 2hand talisman, axe talisman, blood exultation, w/e you else you want.

Best weapon I ever used in my opinion.
You can buff the R2 throwing so well and clear every mob effortlessly.

It does, but it's also outclassed by a lot of other weapons in the base game that do its job but better.
Or past that just use Eruption on a colossal with Talisman of Dread and have an even better time.
@@RageGamingVideosit's the charged heavies that are the star of the show, the weapon gets insane AR if you aren't locked at 150 for pvp purposes - you can easily push 7k in the DLC (or 4k in base game) per charged heavy with the two-handed sword talisman, axe talisman and cracked tear supporting charged heavies. No base game weapon AR comes close if you are going beyond level 150 which I would say a lot of people do for the DLC and that's accounting for the fact that you can't infuse it as well. The fire knights greatsword can achieve similar AR due to all the available elemental buffs but the charged heavies just aren't the same, perhaps due to the weapon class having a lower motion value on the heavy attacks

But didn't really test the whole moveset because I tried the ash of war a couple times and it couldn't kill an enemy in frickin' Altus. Is it stronger than the crucible hammer on the normal attacks? Because the ash feels so much weaker than the crucible hammer gigabonk, which (hilariously) oneshot a Demihuman Queen with its nonsense lingering hitbox.

so for the madding hand buff it just needs too be in a equip slot not even in an active one? I.e in the second slot next to your seal while the seal is being actively used to cast howl? if So that's op and literally every faith build should just throw it on. That is crazy(pun intended)
Needs to be equipped and active, you just dont need to actively use it to attack.
Forgot how much i loved the souls games my biggest problem is time i only have a couple hours a night to play. I wish i would’ve started playing on pc but im at lv200 on the ps5. Been looking for other builds to try im a strength, faith, dexterity build now using the blasphemous blade. I want to try something faster. I wish you could transfer save files from consoles to pc.

The faith scaling on the weapon is really high, the D it shows is lying to you - this weapon shows it's true power if you are leveling beyond 150.
18:50 The bad I see with that weapon is you end just using the heavy attack ONLY, very repetitive, that attack is so fast and good, it even has extra bleed, all other attacks feel useless.

I don't understand the hype around thrusting shields now that they're nerfed. Using a fingerprint stone shield with messmer soldier spear is a much better option. Heck, even a golden greatshield is a better option if you don't like fingerprint's weight.
I've been wondering, why do you say that split damage is good? In Elden Ring, same as dar souls, is always better a weapon with, at most, two damage elements.
Fortunately in Elden Ring the AP value per damage type on split weapons has been balanced in a way that makes them competitive with single dmg type weapons. Down below is a detailed explanation on how damage calculation works in the game if you're curious, but the TLDR is that split damage weapons will perform better or similary as long as the enemy resistance to the featured element on your weapon < resistance to physical damage.
So, lets start by establishing that all enemies have a base Defense of 100 vs all dmg types and receive a regional multiplier to all defenses based on the area and another based on playthrough number. Additionally they have % negations by damage type. We know this through datamining.
In this example we have a Fire Greatsword +25, 54 strength, so 2 handing it we have 80 effective strength, which translates to 436 Physical Damage and 437 Fire Damage. The same weapon, with a Heavy infusion, gets to 716 AP. We are attacking Malenia, who has 0 fire res and 10 in all physical res categories. The base of the Haligtree uses a multipler of 1.232, meaning Malenia has 123 defense vs all damage; the 0.2 is truncated, but would get used when factoring playthrough multiples. We'll assume first playthrough to simplify.
For calculation purposes, you need the AP of each damage type, the motion value for the animation (varies by weapon), target's defenses by type, a formula to convert to a multiplier, and then the target's negations.
Before starting we need to convert AP to a motion-adjusted value. AP * MV / 100 = Motion-Adjusted AP (MAAP). Motion Value for the first one-handed light attack in a chain is 100 (meaning it gets 100% of the AP value applied), so that's usually a good one to use.
So, we have our MAAP values, Malenia's negations and her defense value, and we can assume an MV of 100 for simplicity since that lets us use AP directly, and we're assuming a strength modifier of 80.

Dlc is a 10/10 for me, there is jst 2 problems i have tho/ #1 is the weapons, and #2 is the ashes of war. Is it just me or do the ashes of war feel like they are more for trading hits instead of just rolling and then using them. They are so slow it's impossible to get off unless u are trading hits using rakshasa's armor set. Idk maybe it's jst me.
There are definitely many new AoWs that promote trading, but there are also many who don't, for example Flame Skewer/Spear, Divine Beast Frost Stomp, or Wing Stance to mention a few.
