I spent 5 years in Armidale studying at UNE as a new young immigrant to Australia. Formed lifelong friendships there and I have such fond memories of this place. Thanks very much for re-kindling these memories!
I’m Indonesian and born here 29 years ago when my mom pursued her MBA in University of New England. Hope someday I could go back visit this town. It’s a very special place for me.

The court house that you showed is no longer used as a court house because a larger, more modern one has been built in the next street. The streets are often quiet in the morning, but remember that with Covid people are keeping to themselves more, and the university is only just slowly opening up again, with most students out of town due to covid.
Very nice. I drove through Armidale in 2000 without stopping. I was headed from Bald Rock to Tamsworth. Your walk makes me wish I had more hours in the day!
The crosswalk thing is about the road laws. Legally, if there’s a painted or signed crosswalk, motorists must stop if there is a pedestrian on or about to enter onto a crosswalk. There are penalties for not doing so. If there is no painted crosswalk or no sign for a crosswalk, pedestrians must give way to cars (though no one in their right mind would run you down if you stepped out in front of the car, but they’d sure tell you what they think of you). A gap in an island where you can walk across the road is not an official crosswalk unless painted or signed, so as the pedestrian you must wait until it’s clear for you to cross. That’s the difference. Oh, and Gallipoli, one of the most significant military events in Australia’s history (if not the most culturally significant), is pronounced Ga-lip-polly

Great video, we are in the UK but our daughter lives in Armidale. We have visited a number of times and your video brings back memories.
