Changing Azula to a sympathetic villain is such a mistake. Her mental breakdown at the end is the most impactful part of the finale.

If we see that she is human from the very beginning it A) takes away a villain you truly despise and B) makes the breakdown less impactful.

She just started off as this unapologetic villain with a grudge against Zuko and we didn’t really see why. This version shows how Ozai manipulated her into being what she is and it does exactly what the comics and series finale did, gives you a reason to understand Azula to some degree. Not excuse her behavior, but seeing how she got to the point she ended up on

honestly meh. They made her character weaker. Instead of being on top of everything being a perfect warrior, while hiding mental health. She is now a boring teen, that cares way too much about things. Azula wouldn't care about Zuko, because she knows she's better. She didn't have the same happiness of zukos burning. It was nice to see her do a mission for her father, at the start though that was short lived her. Azula fire personality comes first her struggles with herself come second.
Shes literally training rn 💀 in the animated show, she showed up in the end of s2. But here they decided to show what she did during s1, and I think that's cool.

She was lethal not just because she’s a genius at bending, but her combat skills are topnotch as well. Her ability to dominate fights with or without bending is what struck fear to her enemies, and what made her a great villain for viewers.
In terms of movement, her acrobat friend and ang were better. She’s tumbling and flying as she fights. Remember that fight with Aang to rescuse Bumi?
But this actress. Her movement has no finesse and control that a martial artist has. Not withstanding her movements look just as heavy and awkward.
