  • Our review and taste test of Morrisons 10-Year Tawny Port. A tip 'o the hat to Morrison's wine buyer; this is a good Tawny especially for £15 a bottle. I have decided to make this my UK benchmark for comparing other Tawnys I may taste or review when I am at my English kitchen and wine lab.
Decanter magazine has reviewed this port twice, describing it as rich and elegant with pronounced aromas of raisin, caramel, and dried red berries. The palate offers intense flavors of dried fruit, orange zest, sweet spice, and hazelnuts, extending through a long finish. n.b., I made my tasting comments before reading the reviews.
It's illustrative that the reviewer for Decanter -- Sylvia Wu -- wrote both the reviews, the first tasting in 2019, the second in 2020. 2019 achieved 90 points, 2020, 92. The tasting notes were quite different too. Which goes to show that Tawny Ports can differ quite a bit from one year to another.
I enjoyed drinking this port which is something of a gift at the price.
