In industry we use 'slide plates' made of teflon or HDPE riding on thin polished stainless steel to allow piping systems to move due to thermal expansion. Those staple pipes probably aren't gonna work. it might be easier to install the pipes on Rebar/Metal rods through the wood, with bearings to get an easy roll. also you might want to put some rubber caps or something on those pipes. once you put a lot of weight on those pipes they might start to misshapen or even damage the habitat as it it expands and contracts.
I was going to comment something similar. The sharp ends of the pipe will eventually cut through the plastic, with all the movement. Maybe cover them with some kind of rubber hose.

You wont get away with an air tube thanks to frictional losses. You'd be looking at 3" diameter or greater for reasonable flow but pressure will still be very very low. That said, attached to a greenhouse with a similar fresh air draw, downhill, buried in the ground and you've got geothermal cooling pipes. A well established principle. If you need to keep things sealed off you could just pass the pipe through the greenhouse and attach a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger design will be rough due to the low pressure but it's certainly doable. Think a large automotive intercooler.

Instead of a sump, you could make a wicking system. Install slotted irrigation pipe with a sock and cover with sand. You could make multiple layers of pipe+sand. Put a pipe into your irrigation pipe to fill the bottom with water. Then put a layer of landscape fabric, to prevent plant material from getting into the sand. On top of that put in your soil as deep as your plants need. Then the water will wick up the sand to the soil and draw the root down as it dries out. I do this with pots and I can get over a gallon of water into the bottom of a large pot.

For the piping/suction system, I reckon just having a larger hose running up the mountain would help. It'd probably help to wind it around some to increase surface area with the sun. More heat. I'll be honest, I've not been watching a lot of cody videos, not because youtube isn't recommending them, it's just not been speaking to me. There's some sort of X factor the old videos had, and i think it was similar to what NileRed has.
the black cable isn't producing a draft because it would need constant temperature changes, once it's received full sun and the air inside is fully expanded any draft will end, expansion will also happen in both directions - both ends of the cable will have an outward draft until equilibrium when warming up and an inward draft until equilibrium when cooling
I'm glad you figured out that the L-bracket under the tank wasn't going to work. As soon as you said it I was thinking "doesn't that just kind of defeat the purpose of the sliders?". As for weatherproofing I'm thinking maybe attack some silicon rubber sheeting that hangs loose at the bottom from the tank. It's UV resistant so it shouldnt harden and crack like real rubber and it should be able to stretch to account for the thermal expansion. If keeping rain and snow off the wood underneath is the goal as long as it overlaps with the siding a little it should work fine. I'm not sure if that would work, just offering an idea.
Video idea for you. Attach a bunch on strong neodymium magnets to the bottom of your car low enough to pull things off the ground as you drive by. Drive on the freeway and show us what you find. See which magnetic metals you pick up.
13:42 create a "greenhouse" on the top of the hose, a small glas on the sunny side box with Black interior and conect the hose to a bucket inside of it with an uppward openning so the more intense heated air will come out and kinda vacuum suck the air out of the hose. Maybe will be enough to overpower the friction.
Thanks for the inspiration! I've been wanting to plant some cactus in my yard for a while, and this might have been the final inspiration I needed. Absolutely love cactus blossoms.
Hey cody, long time watcher here, your cacti look great, if you need another flowering plant for your bees to enjoy which is pretty hardy to dry climate and can resist frost i'd suggest Thymus serpyllum, also known as Breckland thyme, Breckland wild thyme, wild thyme, creeping thyme, or elfin thyme as the name suggests its a kind of thyme but it doesn't get very tall but it covers the ground like grass and has a lovely purple color when flowering apparently it doesn't need that much water and i'd think it would survive the climate where you're from also, your bees would get a nice tasty snack out of it
The heat is causing the black hose to expand creating an expansive vacuum instead of a linear vacuum. Air isn't moving through as a result, it's expanding within.
When installing spouting along house roofs, you must consider the thermal expansion and put fittings in that mitigate its affect. It's not so much that theres a large difference, more so that even a small difference in coefficients compiles over a long distance to add up to a significant gap.
Plastic does indeed have dramatic expansion in heat; I sit at a shop bench all day and it has a plastic top and you can can always tell it's getting hot because it starts to warp dramatically. I aught to cut some channels along the bolts to allow it to expand and contact without the warping. I recall an episode of the Mythbusters where they had trouble getting a super long toy car track to work because it kept expanding in the sun and forming large bumps.
Draw a string thrrough the black tubing. Keep the bottom end submerged. The capilary force will draw water up to the top of the hill. The tube will prevent it all from evapoating on the way up.
Thank you for another update on the bees ❤️ I hope they're enjoying their summer vacation Lol I hope the furball feels better soon ❤️ Stay safe, stay awesome, and have fun!!!
I like cactus as an ingredient in a meal. Its a lot of work trying to get the slime out and also keeping the spines from your flesh. I usually boil it 3x in salt water. It does add a special taste to a taco. But as a staple it would be quite a chore to prep, cook, and keep down. Let alone the potential for festering and infected areas between your fingers where the micro spines tend to lodge.
Your egg offering hypothesis is exactly how Dr Avi Loeb claims things are alien. When he can’t figure something out by natural means he just goes straight to, “I can’t explain it, therefore it’s alien”.
That's a nice communication cat....!!! Some Silicone (white or transparent) would be able to isolate those ´´rollers´´ and at the same time have the elasticity required for the sliding of the tank.
If there are any gullies nearby, Robocody could build some gabions to retain any silt carried by flowing liquids if and when there's any precipitation in fluid form concentrated by the local microtopology.

For real just watching robo Cody do tasks is so entertaining. Provided we have real Cody giving some scientific analysis on the work being done😅
So glad these are stil comming out, always love learning with you Cody, best of wishes to you and yours.
the black cable isn't producing a draft because it would need constant temperature changes, once it's received full sun and the air inside is fully expanded any draft will end, expansion will also happen in both directions - both ends of the cable will have an outward draft until equilibrium when warming up and an inward draft until equilibrium when cooling
It's just sad that Google is doing that to you, I really enjoy the content that you produce, thanks again , I really appreciate it.
Yay Cody! Hope everything finds you well! Been a hot one in the intermountain west! Sweating my booty off in the State to the north of you. 🥵
When all you have is a staple, everything looks like a hammer.
Video idea for you. Attach a bunch on strong neodymium magnets to the bottom of your car low enough to pull things off the ground as you drive by. Drive on the freeway and show us what you find. See which magnetic metals you pick up.
Cody try making LK-99
13:42 create a "greenhouse" on the top of the hose, a small glas on the sunny side box with Black interior and conect the hose to a bucket inside of it with an uppward openning so the more intense heated air will come out and kinda vacuum suck the air out of the hose. Maybe will be enough to overpower the friction.
Thanks for the inspiration! I've been wanting to plant some cactus in my yard for a while, and this might have been the final inspiration I needed. Absolutely love cactus blossoms.
14:48 - is that the skin of a cobra?
At 14:48 is that a diamondback rattlesnake in that hole?! Very lucky it didnt mind you walking around so close to its hideout xD
Hey cody, long time watcher here, your cacti look great, if you need another flowering plant for your bees to enjoy which is pretty hardy to dry climate and can resist frost i'd suggest Thymus serpyllum, also known as Breckland thyme, Breckland wild thyme, wild thyme, creeping thyme, or elfin thyme
as the name suggests its a kind of thyme but it doesn't get very tall but it covers the ground like grass and has a lovely purple color when flowering
apparently it doesn't need that much water and i'd think it would survive the climate where you're from
also, your bees would get a nice tasty snack out of it
Cody can plant a variety of cactus that provides food for the bees.
Awesome project. I wish I had the energy for something like that. Thanks for letting us take part in your adventures 😊
That is by far the largest cricket I've ever seen in my life. Also that rattle snake just chilling in that rock lol.
"First let me scratch the cat" I needed that, Thanks
The heat is causing the black hose to expand creating an expansive vacuum instead of a linear vacuum. Air isn't moving through as a result, it's expanding within.
Awesome awesome, thanks for this. Stay safe out there. ... also i seen that rattle snake in the hole to the right. (14:48). hahaha nice.
Thank you for another update on the bees ❤️
I hope they're enjoying their summer vacation Lol
I hope the furball feels better soon ❤️
Stay safe, stay awesome, and have fun!!!
lmaooo i’m going to call every cats tail an antennae from now on
I like cactus as an ingredient in a meal.
14:47 rattle snake in the hole? lol
love the sneaky rattle snake
That's a nice communication cat....!!! Some Silicone (white or transparent) would be able to isolate those ´´rollers´´ and at the same time have the elasticity required for the sliding of the tank.
If there are any gullies nearby, Robocody could build some gabions to retain any silt carried by flowing liquids if and when there's any precipitation in fluid form concentrated by the local microtopology.
