Dad Teaches How to Create Pippi Longstocking Braids

- Today's tutorial is another Daddy Do, done by Shaun! He will be continuing our Halloween Spooktorial series by teaching how to create Pippi Longstocking Braids!

We've done these braids for years, and Shaun is always the one to get involved on these more decorative and wild hairstyles. He uses 16 gauge wire, bent in half and twisted. Why not use a wire clothes hanger? Because the girls say that hanger wire hurts their heads, so Shaun uses a thinner wire that he then twists up {twisting helps grip the braids better for less slide} and doesn't hurt their heads.
We call this a Daddy Do for two reasons, first, because you are using two simple 3-strand braids, anyone can do them... even dads! The second reason is that they get to use man tools to do the hair! LOL!

I was literally laughing off camera when Shaun says "... this is part of our Spooktorial series, and this hairstyle is a little scary!" I love that he is willing to do things like this when most men won't! The kids mean everything to him!

Ugh same my mom used to braid my hair in a normal braid when I was little and when she was at the hospital giving birth my dad just fucking took my hair and put it in a hairband with the fucking ends of the hair first -_______- then when it reached my neck somehow he just left it there without twisting it at all 😒

Oh my gosh......your daughter is adorable and those eyes!!! She has Madonna eyes! Such a beauty! Anywho, my hair is so long that it almost touches the back of my knee. Tomorrow I am going to attempt your technique on the Pipi braids. All the other tutorials have two separate wires, one for each braid. I think that your technique will be the only way to hold my extra long hair up because of the reinforcement from the wire across the head. Wish me luck. If I remember I will come back and post how it went. Thanks for the awesome tutorial you two .

SAME! I recommend not using conditioner... it just makes the hair less slippery i think...

get a bubble wand i have one and used it on my cousin and her hair doesnt hold curls either but it stayed curled all day
After u curl ur hair, u can pin it up in the curl with a bobby pin/hold it in ur hand for a few secs. This might help the curls stay in longer
+Addie Lee Heatless curls are supposed to last longer than anything obtained by an iron. But I still can't get my curls to stay, even with a ton of hairspray and curling creme! :(

I have done this before on my shoulder length hair. I untwisted a wire hanger,like the ones from the cleaners. The hangers we get from the cleaners usually come in white or brown,and the brown one work great for this as they blend with brown hair nicely.

I thought about that too... I actually looked up pictures of Pippi Longstocking and I found photos that's not from the original movie but one I've never seen, and it turns out she has her braids more like Kamri does, though not as extreme. I still have to agree with you though, that's not how Pippi Longstocking's braids are supposed to look... (I'm Swedish too btw)
Still great video though, even though my dad has used this technique for years so it was nothing new to me ha ha.
My sister has as long hair as Kamri and she had her braids straight out, it might not have been the most practical but it looked good ha ha. I get what you're trying to say though... Even though I don't think walking through doors would be much trouble compared to the risk of someone getting the braids in their face 😂
