The piece sounds a bit like Chopin's famous nocturne Op. 9 No. 2. It has the same nostalgic and bittersweet quality highly indebted to the flattened sixth degree. I really like it.

check out Liszt's transcendental etude no 9 in A flat major, "Ricordanza". it's the piece that this song was based upon
