Like in retrospect it's obvious that directly converting IRL naval history into character backstories & motivations almost can't help but create an incredibly compelling science-fantasy setting, but also like fuck dude I wish I _could_ let reincarnated warships I learned about since I was little rest their heads on my shoulder in a wholesomely reassuring hug and tell them it's all gonna be OK now.

Thank you for posting this, as well as the entire playlist! Been looking for translations since I started playing.
For real, giving the last line to the last survivor really hits right in the feels. Same with her lines about being all alone and seeing the end, and Hiei's about being left behind.
But yeah, the stuff you can put together from the kanmusu and princesses' lines and some songs like this actually paints a picture of a really compelling science-fantasy setting. I dunno if I'd have gotten into Kancolle if I didn't speak Japanese and hadn't immediately picked up on the Abyssal Fleet literally being the reanimated real-life WW2 shipwrecks.
For your information, this is also used as the marriage song (albeit the instrumental) in the game.
I think you're backwards. This was the marriage theme and it was made into this song
