your puppy heavy breathing in the back was KILLING ME 😂😂 he's like "mom can we go? i was promised time to run around" i'm so glad your drafting is going well! In terms of only getting 100 words, i think i had one day where i think i legit only got 1 sentence HAHA progress is progress at any point lol
I was like oh maybe the mic won't pick it up the panting...NOPE 😂 one sentence is still progress!! we are still showing up, and that's what matters!
Any progress is progress Ari! No guilt about the hundred words, you gained more words than you would have otherwise and you had a really fun day anyways and it's so important to still allow yourself room for those, especially in nano!
Love the way you put so much effort into treating yourself to get in the right headspace for writing, I'm going to take inspiration from this 🫶🏼

I love the idea of hard and soft writing. Sometimes you do need to just let your subconscious work on something while you’re doing other things.
I’m actually in the editing stage of my book now, after letting it sit for about two and a half or three months. I’m doing a new thing where I light a candle that will be specifically for writing or editing so that hopefully the scent will trigger my brain into wanting to do it. But what I’m doing in terms of editing is I’m moving into the physical world and using index cards! I wrote down every scene description, separating them into major and sub scenes as I went. Each act got a different highlighter color, and the sun scenes are all color coded because they’re written on card stock I cut down for this purpose. I also had three more colors- one for scenes I know I need to move, one for scenes I know I need to add, and transitional scenes between acts.
I’m really enjoying my new editing process because it stops me from just editing sentences and not working on the whole story. I’m kind of tweaking the ‘level down’ approach from Jessica Brody to help me out. I annotated the draft for the little things I can do down the line.

it's so true, and sometimes you just need to let ideas marinate! I love the idea of a special writing/editing candle, it sounds so cozy! Also the index cards sound like such a great way to get everything organized and I love the color coding 😀it sounds like you really have a developmental editing process down!
