@@Nako3 as shield passive is only health+regen I can't see it unless they are a AD tank or a tank that doesn't scale or scales poorly on AP...maybe Amumu or Rell. Even then I'd say the mix shield and ring.
He's right you know. There used to be a *META* build on Ekko mid where you'd take a Bottle of Liquor (Corrupt Potion) and a ring for each finger so that your backhand was stronger to keep the hoes in line.
Corrupt Pot, five Darkseals. The only thing that's changed is that Darkseal doesn't make the liquor taste any better because the rings were fakes, so we replace them with Dorans.
You used to be able to effectively stack dorans rings because its passive used to stack. I used to get a second dorans ring whenever I played veigar just so I'd never run out of mana early game

@@nashambenyisrael7689 never actually had someone say that back in the day. Getting a 2nd Doran's ring was good not just on veigar but other mid laner. In season 3 a lot of pros bought 2nd Doran's item, Faker would buy 2nd Dorans ring when he was behind.

Rav, if you are looking for Video ideas, expanding on this one. The best gold efficiency build in the game is Dorans ring start > Hull breaker > Beserker Greaves > Nashers tooth > Crown of the shattered Queen.
On who you ask? I used to play it on teemo but the AD is a waste... But then it hit me, who has ratios on AD + AP, is secretly the fastest tower taker in the game, does well from Attack, health, defences, AP and attack speed?

It's a slightly slow start but it becomes just absurd after you get Hull breaker. And with all these items you take towers in 7 or so seconds, have burst protection, insane damage, good tank stats, good wave clear, and best of all you gain more scaling as you get more draks.
The best fake of all is heading down to drake post 12 mins, TPing too and putting the game on a timer, you can take inhibs and end games with Hull, boots, Nashers tooth.
Give it a go. (if you can't do Shyvana toolp, teemo is a ranged alternative but it's not quite as good)

I remember back in like season 6 or 7, I was using Moba for a guide and one of the tips was that if you're behind and getting pressures, to pick these up for their efficiency.

It's not really true. Rav specifically points out in the beginning that the gold efficiency calculation doesn't account for item passives. The passive of 2 dorans rings won't stack. So yeah you're getting highly efficient raw stats, but the spike from a premythic shouldn't get delayed in order to fill your inventory with dorans. Rav is a silver meme player, not a guide maker lol

@@dawidlol1337 I've seen some high elo players buy 2 doran's blades sometimes when ahead in lane by like 450 gold and can't spend all gold it was around s11 start s12 though so might not be best right now

Back when You got hp on hit on dorans blade and it stacked, I used to build up to 4 of those on shyvana top. AA+Q= 12 procs in an instant. Good times.

Stacking Doran's Rings like this used to be meta at some point, actually. That item has always been pretty good.
Gragas and kass used to get 2 sometimes 3 as standard ... my fav ever kass build back when his passive made you do hyper dmg was double dorans into rod of ages sorcs lich then dcap

My best guess is that they are the same people irl who can't take any personal responsibility. It's far easier to flame and make others feel bad for being awful than accepting that you're not perfect, make mistakes, and are playing a freaking video game. Those people need to grow up imho, not fir the game but fir their own sakes irl.
I get not liking it, and thinking its a waste of time. But you seriously can't understand it? It's a competitive pvp game. And competitive people hate nothing more than losing when they feel it is someone elses fault that they lost. And you have to be significantly better than everyone else in the game to 1v9 carry these days.
So yeah people are competitive and flaming is their coping mechanism. I'm not defending it by any means but it's real simple to understand.
Also the gold efficiency of the drings is lost as soon as you sell them because of the low return value. So he paid 2k for rings and sold it back for only 800. So 1200 gold vanished into thin air in the first game, he got 4 kills out of it which we'll assume he got 300 per murder (he did not) and then you realize he basically only managed to get 0 gold from 4 murders cause selling the rings immediately wipes out all of that value.
And in the second game he bought 1600 gold worth of rings and was 4/1/2 when he started selling them. So yeah profited off the second game but only by a single kills worth of gold plus a little extra. It's absolutely terrible.
So their criticism of his build was not wrong, even if they didn't know why.
Also before anyone factors in the assist gold he gave his teammates as a reason to say he's more gold positive than I've said here, recognize that I also didn't factor in how many of those kills/assists he would have gotten even without the rings. He could have gone Sheen on the sona game and maybe even killed more. So you can't contribute 100% of these kills/assists to his build. Probably not even half. especially since a lot of the gold spent on dorans ring gives you hp, which he wasn't using to murder people.
Had a game the other day playing lethality Yorick, midlane was flaming me all game with "That's NOT how you play Yorick. WTF are you doing?" and other such Gems. Ended up carrying with more damage and kill participation than the rest of my team put together, but the flame never stopped. He was convinced they won despite an inting top who just so happened to steal kills.

Yes. Stacking Doran Rings used to be a thing because of the passive effect stacking as well. Explains why Naut top was busted back then.

I've been doing 4-5 dorans adc few years ago. Exchanging only to something much better (at least 2-tier). Usually won early game (gold-ish though). Good times.
i love starting ring on Sivir and Jhin. They have AP scaling and motivation to spam Q, plus i take dark harvest on both, which also scales with AP. You lose no dmg and gain free mana, ur just trading the omnivamp.

take builds and compare them in the same situations for different combinations of items and you can see the pros and cons (and usually one will be better 99% of the time like ldr>collector)

Ok listen up, got a story for you (didnt mean to rymnn but we'll roll with it...I know its misspelled, but chrome thinks I meant run, and i"m too lazy to fix it) I was bronze-silver from season 1 to season 9. Yeah, hard stuck. Until I learned one thing. Fuck your team. I played the meta, tried to counter pick, did what my team wanted me to. In season 10 and 11 I decided I was done. I realized my shot calling was on point, I knew where I should be, and what I should be doing. I took all the kills, and didnt join my team for their bad decisions, and played only champs that could hard carry, Trynd, udyr, Yi, those types. I hit diamond 1 in season 11. then said fuck this game forever and stopped playing cold turkey and have never looked back.

I always using 3 doran's rings or 2 + Dark Seal + Refillable.potion on Cho'Gath cause it gives all stats that i need to destroy enemy as a AP Cho'Gath

this used to be a legit and common strat before the item rework. Usually 2 or 3 max dorans items though.
Best fucking items are Doran’s items. Just check out shield regeneration when you are low and get some damage, you need 4 sec to restore 50 hp. You can stay low infinitely on champs like sett or mundo. That items are mvp.

The best item in terms of gold efficiency would be Fiendish Codex, it's better than Doran's ring because unlike it, you can keep it to combine it into an item. Getting doran ring would make you end up selling it, and then losing gold in the end
