I bought this and just now using it thank you for your reviews I love the flexibility of this gun.
I am a beginner DIY painter and one of the most troublesome things I have found to do correctly is to develop the proper gun movement techniques. I watch your video to learn how you hold the gun, the distance from the surface and your constant movement in order to apply the appropriate 'flow' of paint. Your instruction and demonstration of the appropriate pace, distance and psi settings has been very informative. I realize that you have a ton of experience and muscle memory development for spraying technique. Continue to demonstrate gun movement and positioning. Thank you.
8 years later I know you figured it out! 1000 cars by now
Love your work.sprayed with sata for 20yrs here in the US..got a tekna..great gun..you sold me on devilbiss..
so I just purchased the tekna prolite and I love it. I tried the settings you use and they work good for me as well. thanks bud
hey gunman love your videos and have bought 2 flg5's and the tekna based on your reviews and love them. i now use the flg5 for primer after i got the tekna and as much as i love the tekna i just cant get the same result i do with the iwata lph400 but thats because its its still new and i have to get used to it. thank you i would haver never bought those guns if not for your videos. keep up the great work very appreciated!!

As always at the highest level !!!
you did a great job thanks for the video Geoff
Thanks man :-)
I just bought it today and sprayed with it,awsome. I used the 1.4 instead and man what a gun. it made me anxious to paint again lol.
I just got mine other day as well. Used 1.3 with TE20 and it seems to apply the paint really wet. Full fan and fluid and i was spraying around 24psi. Little more info on what your set up is like? Im trying to make it primarily my base coat gun
Very goog video,i learn more things from your's videos regards from Serbia.
Just ordered a tekna prolite on your recommendation. Thanks!
Wonderful and good job
looks really good
Vintage gunman. Love it
Charts mate 🤙
The Best gun, congratulations
Very shiny!!!!!
Cool video.
Thanks!
Nice finish!
was here. nice work
thanks you for the video...great job...
Good video, good man.
I never really see reviews on spraying base coat ( particularly waterborne ). I just got my gun in the other day. 1.2 - 1.4 with TE10/TE20 caps. I started off with 1.3 and TE20 around 25psi, Which is what the envirobase called for. It seemed like so much air to me and it was spraying really wet. I changed to a 1.2 nozzle and left TE20 on and it still seems like it sprays wet. I had the fan and fluid wide open, but didnt get to fool around with it a whole bunch. Im just a prep guy in my shop who gets to do cut in's and a couple paint jobs (using the painters supernovas). Painting is a lot of information to absorb and im doing my best to suck it all in, but i hope this gun works well for base coat, because that is what i primarily want to use it for. I already bought an LPH400 for clear. Any advice would be appreciated, keep up the good vids bro!!
the gun man, vc poderia usar a TEKNA PRO LITE, top de linha. Faz um tutorial dessa pistola pra gente
looks good
really like your videos have question I'm buying the prolite was wondering what aircap to get and tip ndl nozzle
Gunny, great video brother as always. Have a question for you though. I noticed sometimes you have the vent cap closed on top of your cup and sometimes it's open? What dictates whether it's open or closed? Thanks brother 👍
I bought the vigilante prolite. I’m used to my sata RP 3000 1.3. I’m still trying to adjust a month in. I’ve tried the 1.2 with the te10. Then the 1.2 with the te20, then tried the 1.3 with te10, then tried the 1.3 with the te20. I noticed I have to slow way down to get it to pump the clear on. I’m going to try the 1.4 with the te20 today and see how it goes. I really want to make the gun work for me on clear, but I keep reverting back to my sata. I’m a fast painter, I’ll let you know how the 1.4 does
i like to use the iwata supernova on the clear coat, because in my opinion it lays the standox extra clear pretty good!
Is that the ws400 or another one
Would you use this gun they use on this video or would you stick to the high dollar guns like the ws
I was watching how you open the fluid tip up on the roof(flat surfaces) I have never seen a painter do that before but it makes sense to hose it on top surfaces. Do you do that all the time and I just missed it?
I really enjoy your videos bro keep it up! Only thing I'd like to see is for you to slow down while your showing the reflection after the final coat of clear. Other than that you have the most descriptive videos as far as explaining what you are doing and what you are using throughout all of your videos.
Thanks a lot for the feedback man I'll keep it in mind next time I'm recording, And I'm glad you like the vids, Cheers
Great job !!!!!
Your movement is quiekly..... you admise me to speed movement please ?
My second question: how much loosening for thé fluid? I have « devilbiss 1,3 git pro and pro lite.... t’habite you so much
Great review . Do you apply a grip coat and 2 full coats ot just grip and 1 full cost? ( grip and rip)?
Love your videos, bro. You sold me on Devilbiss! I bought a Tekna Prolite with a TE10 and TE20 air cap. Do you by chance have any videos with the TE10 air cap?
Thk u for great vid!) like
zajebisty fachowiec!szacun
Hey man, you are completely awesome! I just bought the exact gun you have on this video. Tekna pro lite w both 10 and 20 air caps and 1.2 1.3 and 1.4 tips w the dekups system. I bought it because of you. Thanks. I build guitars and I am hoping that this gun will spray as good with a 6inch fan. Any thoughts?
Need your advise as I have just purchased the same gun it has a HV30 air cap with a 1.3mm nozzle.I paint both 2K, enamel, and acrylics, what are your recommendations in purchasing a good all rounder of nozzle & air caps?Awesome work mate!!
Nice job pointer pro !!!!!
Wyatt do you think « rm » clear « everclear ?
Wyatt pressure for application for my gun and the time between second coat man ??
Thank you si much .......
Good morning I would like to know at what pressure and how many turns of fluid do you give to the varnish gun thanks
Hey gunman. I'm using 1.3 hv30 for hs clear.Could I get good rusults (mirror finish)with that setup or should I buy te20
Gracias maestro
hi
im looking at getting a gun and like the devilbiss, could you tell me the difference between the gti prolite and gti pro?also what head should i get as i want this gun to spray primer, base coat and top coat.also is it worth spending a bit more and getting the digital one?
I just got the Gti Pro Lit. So when its Warm like 80 Degree outside outside I should turn fluids 4 turns out? and if its like 45-55 Degree outside I go 3 turns out full fan? Thanks Mate
So which would you recommend for hvlp and HS lacquer what air cap and set up I'm looking to buy a gti pro lite
Nice job did you use a 1.3 or 1.4 tip thanks you
Wow, very nice! You make it look like glass. I have a Devilbiss Plus 670 very nice gun also. What kind of clear did you use?
very good work. Might you teach me configure that as a spray gun psi few apply clearcoat
It works best at 25psi
Gunny it looks as though when you went from the roof to the side of the car you wound in the fluid a couple of turns? Do you always do this?
I get a lot of peel I got the blue prolite with 1.2/3/4 te10/20, any recommendations on settings outside of this? I usually go 1.3 te20 33 psi 1 1/2 turn out for clear so I can dial it in and flow it out, but that was with thinner clear, I’m guessing I’m holding back fluid? Big fan, enjoy your videos
hello gunman what do think of i use the devilbiss GTI PRO LITE with a 1.2 and TE20 for clear do think its a good combination and reduce the orange peel???please let me know im about to order this gun but dont know if ordering with 1.2 + 1.3 or 1.3 + 1.4 what you recommend thanks you
how does the tekna lay down base ? good for blending?
What's the pressure you used on this gun? I'm not a pro but occasionally paint my own car. I use a different gun with 30 Psi but most of time, I keep getting clear coat drips and it's really pain in the ass to remove them. Any recommendation on how to have nice gloss looking clear coat without having any drips?
hi, i am a beginner and spraying complete car panel at a time. all was going well but I got a large run on front wing. i left for 2 days and sanded the run out and reapplied .when the clear dried it started to craze(looked like dried cracked leather) in certain places, any idea why and how to remove crazing
Gunman i am thinking of picking up a pro lite for a new clear gun. I currently use an Iwata WS400 1.4 HD for clear. Do you think tekna is easier to replicate that slight factory peel? I paint in U.S., so mostly US and Japanese cars. Also wanted to ask you if you have ever used the Devilbiss 7E7 cap? I was looking into the Devilbiss copper and those come with the 7E7 cap which I have heard is fantastic for clear. I also have a pair of Sagolas which are not particularly impressive in my opinion
best of the best gun?
what do you think of this gun for base? and what set up would you use?
Gun too heavy??!!?!??!? Time to pump some iron, Gunman! Just giving you a hard time! Once again, another awesome vid! Your knowledgeable commentary is perfect. Hope you aren't planning on retiring soon as there just aren't any other awesome painters with a CZcams channel as good as yours. Thanks!
He said the gun is very light considering the weight of some others.
Completely sold mate! Ive seen loads of your vids where you use this gun! I decided to use your method of dedicated clear/basecoat guns, and my clear gun just called it quits this weekend!
got a few quick questions,
1. Where can I get one here in Perth?
2. Can I use the TE10 for clear?
3. Can it also be used for basecoat in a pinch?!
Thanks mate, love the vids, very informative and in depth!
Thanks mate, so if you want the cheapest Devilbiss you will get Australia wide then ebay is the place to go, you will probably have a week & 1/2 wait and will save around $100 but if you want it straight away then talk to park autos (Geoff) and say I recommended you and he should look after you. Yes the TE10 can be used for both clear and base, I will be making a review and demo vid on the TE10 soon, Its a good cap if you have limited air pressure because the holes in the cap are quite small. Cheers mate and good luck.
Excellent, thanks for the recommendation! I'll go over soon and have a look at what they have over at Park Auto.
Cheers again! Look forward to the next vid!
I want to purchase 3 gun set up for candy without breaking the bank. What 3 guns and setup do you recommend for base, candy, and clear? And is the diamond clear better than liquid glas?
would the tekna pro lite with te20 with a 1.4 tip work for clear coat?
Thanks mate, you've been a great help to me. Where can I buy one of those super cool Gunman T-shirts?
I'll be getting some more made up soon so I'll let everyone know when they're ready.
would you say the te20 is better than the hv 30 setup.
Hey mate, just stumbled across your vids and am loving the handful I've seen so far! In regards to getting the best possible or "show quality" finish with clear coats and final appearance, which I realise is overkill for 99.9% of jobs, but, can you re-clear a finished job? Is there any advantage/disadvantage? Maybe it gives more material to work with to cut orange peel out... Or is this just some crazy old wive's tale? Cheers!
Jerome Smith Yes its totally true, you will get much less suck back from the base and a deeper finish with less peel if done properly, the best way to do a show car.
Whats a great gun for a 26 Gallon 1.8 HP 150 PSI Oil-Free Air Compressor?
hey gunman i been watching ur videos on the devilbiss pro lite gold i love ur videos but my question is what u think about devilbiss pro lite ltd (bullet) edition any recombination?
+MANDO GTZ it's the exact same gun, just a different design
Hi does the quality of the clear coat basically determine the overall outcome of the job?
What i mean is if you used cheap clear lacquer would you not get the same amount of glossing and would cheaper lacquer die back or fade away over time?
I used a HS clear 2:1 and thinned it down by 10% on the final coat, few months after the gloss had virtually dropped by 50% but when i first did the job it was very glossy, now its faded, so im asking about if it was cheap clear coat that caused it?
I used Roberlo global 50,entry level clear coat
Theres a few factors but the obvious one would be the clear its self. It would most likely come good with a buff though. I doubt that Glasurit, Standox, Sikkens, etc would have done that.
The t10 lays it on really wet. I also have the hv30 air cap. But my pain cap is the t20
yeah the TE20 gets a killer finish
I have been training guys with these guns and they are doing great. I remember learning with Sata it was allot harder
Do you like the te20 better then the t110?
gunman, love the videos! How do you feel about the Sata 4000?
sata 5000B have all same than de vilpis but 50% cheapen, only 90$ now
What distance you holding this gun to panel?
What pressure do you spray at?
Could you use this gun as a basecoat gun?
Hey Gunman Im newbie..first time paint cars what you recomend to start spray gun i should use..I know that Sata RP its best to do clear coats but I recently watch your video and the Devilbiss GTI Pro youre are using looks great!!
Yeah man the Pro lite is the way to go if you ask me, its versatile, cheap, high quality, easy to use, lightweight, efficient and look cool. I don't agree that the Sata RP is best for clear because they are overpriced, heavy, not as efficient as the DeVilbiss that you could buy 2 of for the same price and not easy to use, I've seen the biggest runs ever with the 4000B RP and they aren't efficient on the paint either.
Yeah..thank's for the help..Devilbiss will go!!
Hey Gunman..yesterday i said to you what spray gun i should use for first time begginer and you said DeVilbiss Pro Lite..my question its what type of Prolite I should buy to use it in primer..color base coat and clear coat?
you should have a separate gun for primer filler that is a 1.8mm or 2.0mm, I have the Airgunsa az3 1.8mm and love it, but the Pro lite 1.3mm will do for wet on wet primers, basecoat and clear
thank's man..each day watch your videos..keep up the good work!!
💯👀👍👍👍 TYVM Gov'
Hey LOVE LOVE the head cam it shows soooo much and really lets me see what your doing. I am in school and have over a year left. I have not seen anything on Primer and what gun / settings ect. that you like you use... your one of the best for explaining and telling us what guns you like for base / clear and settings. So this would be great for me. (Head Cam on all 3 stages would rock). Maybe do a 3 stage Vid with the head cam from Primer to Base to Clear. Loven' the head cam shows your skill and what newbies need to look at on the spray lines. Thanks brother for the USA ... Cheers mate :) hehe
Thanks a lot mate, Glad you like the vids. Here are a few links to some of my vids I think will help you out included in here is Priming, gun setup and settings and full prep and paint vids, the last one is the start of this video here Prep and base

Gunman - I notice before going onto the roof for the second coat you are turning a knob, then when going to the quarter panels, you turn that knob again. Is that the fluid knob, and are you opening for the roof, then valving down the fluid amount for the quarters, and if so, why? To prevent sags or runs because of gravity on vertical panels? I guess that would be my only suggestion for your videos - while narrating, when you see yourself make an adjustment, let us know what the adjustment is and why you made it. Thanks, great work and great video!
Yeah, flatter panel, wider area, and a flat surface. You can "smash it on" with more material on those areas. Turn it down a bit for edges or smaller areas, or if you're already a little too wet.
Where would u use 1.2 tip?
what do you wined you fluid out too when painting the roof?
+Im Chings 3 turns
Where you have masked the door trim/door bump strip, someone did the same but with my lower side skirt. Where the masking has been pulled away there's a slight build up of paint, like a small lip. If I sent you a picture you'd understand better! Is there anything I can do to smooth it down without damaging the paint work? Many thanks :)
You may be able to sand it with 1200/2000 then polish.
Gun man does the develbiss gti pro lite handle single stage also? If so what configuration do I need.
Sammy Esparza Yes and same setup
which clear from standox did you use on this job?very nice by the way.....
Thanks, I used Standox Crystal Pro Clear HS 3:1
Is the clear coat a different gun
What's the best configuration the te20 1.3 or the 10 with 1.3 tip?
Sammy Esparza te20 1.3
Hi the spray gun that you use to paint on this vehicle for how much cost to purches or can I order direct from you just question because i saw your works i trust you thank you
Hi, its a Devilbiss Gti Pro lite with a te20 air cap and I use and recommend it very great gun. I am in the process of trying to get some and making a website but don't have any yet I'm sorry. Good luck and stay tuned.
super...
Hey Gunny. For clear coat what would be better for you,,,, this baby or the new sagola 4600 truck taitania pro? Cheers and thanks for your vids.
I have a soft spot for the DeVilbiss, they've always been my favourite guns. Most of my best work has been done with a DeVilbiss so I'd find it hard not to recommend one.
@@TheGunmanChannel thank you so much buddy. My blessings
Wow thanks for sharing. But how much working pressure (bar) do you use with the spray gun.
The Gunman which nozzle is best for varnish application at your option 1.3mm or 1.4mm?
HV30?
TE20?
TE10?
would like to know your opinion'm also a painter.
I'd recommend a 1.3 for normal climates but 1.4 if humidity is high, and all 3 caps are ok for clear, I use and recommend te20 but for hot dry conditions I would use the HV30, Thanks for watching and hope this info can help you
What is the best all-around Devilbiss gun for beginners. I cannot purchase three guns so, if there is a gun for clear and a different gun for base, what do you recommend?
This gun is an awesome and reasonably priced, good for base clear and 2k, I use it mainly for base & 2k then the pro lite TE20 for clear
czcams.com/video/dQUeF6GBY90/video.html
Nice Job -- mate. What pressure are you using at the gun inlet?
25-29psi
Do you find the te20 air cap more suited for clear over the te10 air cap?
Fabio Miguel Yes
Hey gunman, which tip size are you using in this video? 1.3 or 1.4mm?
1.3 mate :-)
