    I am a beginner DIY painter and one of the most troublesome things I have found to do correctly is to develop the proper gun movement techniques. I watch your video to learn how you hold the gun, the distance from the surface and your constant movement in order to apply the appropriate 'flow' of paint. Your instruction and demonstration of the appropriate pace, distance and psi settings has been very informative. I realize that you have a ton of experience and muscle memory development for spraying technique. Continue to demonstrate gun movement and positioning. Thank you.

    I never really see reviews on spraying base coat ( particularly waterborne ). I just got my gun in the other day. 1.2 - 1.4 with TE10/TE20 caps. I started off with 1.3 and TE20 around 25psi, Which is what the envirobase called for. It seemed like so much air to me and it was spraying really wet. I changed to a 1.2 nozzle and left TE20 on and it still seems like it sprays wet. I had the fan and fluid wide open, but didnt get to fool around with it a whole bunch. Im just a prep guy in my shop who gets to do cut in's and a couple paint jobs (using the painters supernovas). Painting is a lot of information to absorb and im doing my best to suck it all in, but i hope this gun works well for base coat, because that is what i primarily want to use it for. I already bought an LPH400 for clear. Any advice would be appreciated, keep up the good vids bro!!

    I bought the vigilante prolite. I’m used to my sata RP 3000 1.3. I’m still trying to adjust a month in. I’ve tried the 1.2 with the te10. Then the 1.2 with the te20, then tried the 1.3 with te10, then tried the 1.3 with the te20. I noticed I have to slow way down to get it to pump the clear on. I’m going to try the 1.4 with the te20 today and see how it goes. I really want to make the gun work for me on clear, but I keep reverting back to my sata. I’m a fast painter, I’ll let you know how the 1.4 does

    Gunman i am thinking of picking up a pro lite for a new clear gun. I currently use an Iwata WS400 1.4 HD for clear. Do you think tekna is easier to replicate that slight factory peel? I paint in U.S., so mostly US and Japanese cars. Also wanted to ask you if you have ever used the Devilbiss 7E7 cap? I was looking into the Devilbiss copper and those come with the 7E7 cap which I have heard is fantastic for clear. I also have a pair of Sagolas which are not particularly impressive in my opinion

      Thanks mate, so if you want the cheapest Devilbiss you will get Australia wide then ebay is the place to go, you will probably have a week & 1/2 wait and will save around $100 but if you want it straight away then talk to park autos (Geoff) and say I recommended you and he should look after you. Yes the TE10 can be used for both clear and base, I will be making a review and demo vid on the TE10 soon, Its a good cap if you have limited air pressure because the holes in the cap are quite small. Cheers mate and good luck.

In regards to getting the best possible or "show quality" finish with clear coats and final appearance, which I realise is overkill for 99.9% of jobs, but, can you re-clear a finished job? Is there any advantage/disadvantage? Maybe it gives more material to work with to cut orange peel out... Or is this just some crazy old wive's tale? Cheers!

    • @TheGunmanChannel

    Hi does the quality of the clear coat basically determine the overall outcome of the job?
    What i mean is if you used cheap clear lacquer would you not get the same amount of glossing and would cheaper lacquer die back or fade away over time?
    I used a HS clear 2:1 and thinned it down by 10% on the final coat,few months after the gloss had virtually dropped by 50% but when i first did the job it was very glossy, now its faded, so im asking about if it was cheap clear coat that caused it?
    I used Roberlo global 50,entry level clear coat

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  Před 9 lety

      Theres a few factors but the obvious one would be the clear its self. It would most likely come good with a buff though. I doubt that Glasurit, Standox, Sikkens, etc would have done that.

      Yeah man the Pro lite is the way to go if you ask me, its versatile, cheap, high quality, easy to use, lightweight, efficient and look cool. I don't agree that the Sata RP is best for clear because they are overpriced, heavy, not as efficient as the DeVilbiss that you could buy 2 of for the same price and not easy to use, I've seen the biggest runs ever with the 4000B RP and they aren't efficient on the paint either.

      you should have a separate gun for primer filler that is a 1.8mm or 2.0mm, I have the Airgunsa az3 1.8mm and love it, but the Pro lite 1.3mm will do for wet on wet primers, basecoat and clear

    Hey LOVE LOVE the head cam it shows soooo much and really lets me see what your doing. I am in school and have over a year left. I have not seen anything on Primer and what gun / settings ect. that you like you use... your one of the best for explaining and telling us what guns you like for base / clear and settings. So this would be great for me. (Head Cam on all 3 stages would rock). Maybe do a 3 stage Vid with the head cam from Primer to Base to Clear. Loven' the head cam shows your skill and what newbies need to look at on the spray lines. Thanks brother for the USA ... Cheers mate :) hehe

    Gunman - I notice before going onto the roof for the second coat you are turning a knob, then when going to the quarter panels, you turn that knob again. Is that the fluid knob, and are you opening for the roof, then valving down the fluid amount for the quarters, and if so, why? To prevent sags or runs because of gravity on vertical panels? I guess that would be my only suggestion for your videos - while narrating, when you see yourself make an adjustment, let us know what the adjustment is and why you made it. Thanks, great work and great video!

      Yeah, flatter panel, wider area, and a flat surface. You can "smash it on" with more material on those areas. Turn it down a bit for edges or smaller areas, or if you're already a little too wet.

    Where you have masked the door trim/door bump strip, someone did the same but with my lower side skirt. Where the masking has been pulled away there's a slight build up of paint, like a small lip. If I sent you a picture you'd understand better! Is there anything I can do to smooth it down without damaging the paint work? Many thanks :)

      I have a soft spot for the DeVilbiss, they've always been my favourite guns. Most of my best work has been done with a DeVilbiss so I'd find it hard not to recommend one.

    HV30?

    TE10?

      I'd recommend a 1.3 for normal climates but 1.4 if humidity is high, and all 3 caps are ok for clear, I use and recommend te20 but for hot dry conditions I would use the HV30, Thanks for watching and hope this info can help you

    What is the best all-around Devilbiss gun for beginners. I cannot purchase three guns so, if there is a gun for clear and a different gun for base, what do you recommend?

    • @TheGunmanChannel
      @TheGunmanChannel  Před 8 lety

      This gun is an awesome and reasonably priced, good for base clear and 2k, I use it mainly for base & 2k then the pro lite TE20 for clear
