So many people compare the two versions of the song - but you are right, it's not about comparing. A little back story, Jacoby of Papa Roach approached Ronnie to do a remake of this song as the 20th anniversary was coming up. So Papa Roach initiated this remake. Ronnie, I feel, didn't cover this song, he really honored the lyrics and the feeling of those lyrics by using this song to invoke the emotions behind the anger the first version shows. Feelings of sadness a cry for help, and finally some hope to overcome. Also - yes, Ronnie spent time in prison for a probation violation. At that time, he was the lead singer of his band Escape the Fate. However, while in prison, they kicked him out of his own band. So he spent time writing music and literally formed a new band. Epitaph records seems to have stood by him through it all - which is cool. And he not only rose to the top with once, he did it a second time after having everything taken from him (prison). I think Ronnie is a great example of redemption and in a way embodies the visuals of the video. Again - great reaction!
As far as I am concerned Papa Roach wrote this song Waiting for Ronnie to sing it. I never resonated with the original but Ronnie brings out so much emotion I never felt before with any song.
Finally my prayers were heard and you reacting to my fav band ❤ them and Nightwish are my favs. Both outstanding bands!! Thank you. Please continue with them 🙏🏼🙏🏼

The 2 are not comparatives, just 2 different spaces of the same Timeline. Papa Roach was in the mix of the angst, Radtke is more of the after effects. Being the lost soul that was beat down from the fight. Ending in the Crescendo of Will Change
