Siddharth Neelakantan guesses you missed out on Allah Rakha and have something against ZakirJi He was awarded with Padma Shri in the year 1988 and Padma Bhushan in 2002. The list of his awards also includes Sangeet Natak Akademi Award, given by India’s National academy of Music, Dance and Drama which he received in 1990. This famous musician was also awarded with many more awards and is said to be one of the legend of fusion music.
sorry i must agree with s n. haven't heard allah rakha much. anindo is a class of his own. you must hear his accompanying nikhil banerjee. the tabla is a bit loud here probably the recording. but anindo is the classic tabla 'underplayer' and that's what makes him unique. he's all sublimity and subtlety.
Balakrishnan S Zakir will underplay a lot and having lived with and heard them both extensively, I for one know they both love each other and don’t think one is better than the other. If we. are talking about under playing Swapan Chaudhary is “better” as Ali Akbar Khan notes that his Theka is priceless (like Garden of Dreams). Zakir Husain has changed tabla in the modern sense, and is deeply rooted, I sense a bias

All that the person above stated was that he believes Anindo Chatterjee is “the most complete tabla player he has ever seen”. This is simply him expressing his opinion, which he is entitled to do. No comments were made about any other tabla players. For some reason, you got up and started vigorously defending Alla Rakha and Zakir Hussain. We all know about their awards and their fame. If you like them, or Swapan-ji, fair enough. Good for you. This person is more than entitled to like Anindo-da and state his opinion accordingly. Kindly get off your high horse and perhaps consider examining your own biases first.

this is a perfect live sound.....and don't compare.....just listen to it.....as somebody said....devine Tabla....and ParvezJi is devine too.....if u compare u will only lose my friend....just try to enjoy it...instead of regreting what u heard and what u will hear....they(these musicians) r beyond of what u just said.....
Nice to see a master play the instrument as well as hear the playing. So many of the other videos we can hear the master play and only see a static picture.
This is extremely well recorded. Kudos to the sound engineers. Compare with so many other live recordings of USP on CZcams. One can only imagine how beautiful they would have sounded if the sound "engineers" were professionals.

It’s not like Nikhil Bannerjee - he is the Joe Satriani of sitar. It’s amazing gymnastics. It does not touch my heart (nor my gurus heart - Sultan Khan who passed who preferred Rais Khan when alive).... this is my opinion and it’s solid

I never said he wasn’t the best - he is like Yngwie Malmsteen - and also this is You Tube If you haven’t seen anybody comment like this you need to get out more often. Furthermore the main reason I comment is because I can’t enjoy this performance, obviously he’s practiced a ton but it does not touch the heart. And I can comment what I want to comment on a public forum. I tried to enjoy it - just didn’t work. So I expressed it being a professional musician who has opened for the likes of Maestro Zakir Hussain while in Atlanta.
