- In this video I talk about how to correctly store Goldbacks and Silverbacks. Goldbacks are a currency that is made out of gold and Silverbacks are a limited edition collectible. The "1" Goldback contains 1/1000th of a troy oz of 24k gold. The "1" Silverback contains 1/1000th of a troy oz of pure silver. I don’t have enough of ‘em to worry about storage. The few that I’ve bought were because I liked the designs. While I’m not sold on the overall future of these, I’ll definitely say they look amazing, and I enjoy having them as collectibles.
Just not as popular as other means.

I'll get some to give as Christmas gifts, but this is why I don't think they'll ever really catch on. For everyday use, they better be more durable. Cool concept, not sure about the execution.
I've got piles of them, plus a bunch of Goldbacks wallets. I'm glad you are using my term "hyper-fractional" it is such a cool phrase! Humidity is a problem for the 25 and 50 denoms, and they are kind of clumsy and tend to fray at the edges, too. I recommend the 10, 5, 1s instead. When we getting the Hawaiian Goldback?!
I think they're beautiful. I just collect them. I have about a grands worth.
Maybe one day, if they're discontinued, we might hit a small jackpot with them.

Since they're all coated in plastic, how do you test each bill for authentic gold or silver without damaging them with specific types of acid?

I store a dozen in an old biker-wallet in the map-pocket of my car door. Curious to see what the hot summer sun is gonna do to 'em and whether they'll start sticking together at all.

I bought silver backs, and placed them in books. Just have to remember which engineering books at the office in which I placed them. Like book markers. Another engineer I know put his in between the pages of yellow legal sized note pads, then put that in another pile of pads?

I aint SD but heres my two cents on the GB wallet:
The wallet is well made for the price, and it will hold all your GBs and keep them straight. It has enough card slots in it as well to hold your cards and IDs. However, the biggest downside to the GB wallet is how long it is. It sticks about an inch out of my pockets no matter how deep my front pockets are and if my pockets are really shallow on one of my pants it jabs me in the hip when I sit down. That said, it is great if you have cargo shorts because those pockets are usually deep enough you can stick it all the way into the pocket.
