EAC was very much a double edged sword. On one side it made it harder (but not impossible) for malicious clients to attack people. On the other side it made it harder to protect ourselves from the malicious clients that still make their way in.
It was but also keep mind that there where also mods to prevent crashers, rippers and so on
Never did get around to using too many mods. But i know it was a big blow to people with accessiblilty issues when it was first introduced. 😢
Only reason I hate EAC is because it tanks my performance I'm lucky if I even get up 40 frames. I understand they have investors but the way it was implemented feels as though there was no real thought behind it.
Very accurate video.
I'm always to hold a grudge against VRChat for as long as they have EAC, but getting pissy about it with other users is even more grudge-worthy.
I think it's very much a bad thing. It's annoying to have to install a separate piece of software just for VRChat, and it's even worse that I'm forced to use their vanilla client. I'm glad they've added some useful mods as features, but what about other niche tweaks I want? Nope, can't have 'em. It's unfortunate. @@Shadow82311
It's why I've stuck to principle and just never installed vrc again after removing it when the news broke out lol
I swear, it must be illegal to be this early
this channel used to be a mod
the speed of my finger whenever you upload a video-
Hey I am fine with EAC. I do not use mods nor do I care. I am vanilla as it gets on VRChat and I am happy with it.
Excellent video, RIP the old VRC.
look, i wont be the mod guy as i never really played much. but when i started trying to play more, EAC was added, and EAC bricked the compatibility of the game across all devices i own and use.
so i have every right to be a little pissed.
I love the idea that adding anti cheat will remove the ability for people doing bad things from doing bad things.
Also there is no way the majority of their support tickets were modded clients. Modding is always a niche thing.
But let's pretend that WAS the case. Maybe that means you should add modding support instead of removing modding all together.
What I suspect is that the people that got banned for crashing and ripping were also using modified clients, even though what they were doing may not need a modified client. So VRChat devs were like "AH YES... THIS IS THE ISSUE!"
I'm glad eac was added as there were some hacks that could do some really fucked shit
I cried the day eac was added. I literally cried that all my almost 100 mods stopped working. I was in my world crying for hours
the eyes when you said "I'd advise you not saying that in Busy worlds"
Till this day Crashers still exist :<
Rip Melon/Mods :
How did I never know about these features?
"if you take ther word for it" 🤣🤣
If they keep adding features that were part of mods to improve the game.
People shouldnt have a reason to complain anymore.
The game ran better for my Quest after they introduced EAC. I hope it continues to improve.
Also R.I.P Lemon loader
Well that DEFINITELY went well... 💜
I never rly cared about mods. Plus we now got rid of a lot of trouble makers that used modfied clients to cyber stalk you etc.
Sure it aint perfect but i rather have no mods then have to put up with broken mods and clients everytime somehting get updated.
And honestly, Mods that do things that should have been in the game all a long and not be something that the community takes care of.
If anyone shoudl yell at me like here shown i will tell them that they should be glad that it is now integrated and not totally gone.
the "that used to be a mod" guy is hawt n cwoot uwu (and also pretty based lol)
As annoying as that mod guy is, expressing such a wrong opinion warrants physical violence.
I've never used mods, and I don't like the fact they're out.
So yeah I can understand why people are upset about it.
As somone who did benefit from mods and misses some of the features we still don't have in client... yea this level of anger over it is ridiculous.
I Still Miss the Mod Camera Takin 16k Pictures and then Gamble if it Saves or not or if i Crash and How long the Games Freezes.
The reason i used mods is becuase i would search up avatars and fly around
Ngl as someone that didn't use mods and played the game worlds on vrc, eac was definitely a benefit for me personally. Before eac, cheaters and trolls ran rampant, teleporting all the items, insta killing everyone, ect. All of that soon stopped once eac was implimented. Plus all the QoL features that came after that you needed to fork over money to have are now readily available for every player for free
Thats a Cute Scalie Ó wÒ
I just miss everyone having colorful names, custom loading screen and music, seeing everyone’s FPS and ping. So many little quality of life mods that made the game that much more fun.
Meanwhile just a few weeks back there was a ripper campaign going on. WTG VRC you stopped ripping........ for 5 whole minutes.
imagine not having eac bypass 😭 freezeframe my BELOVED
To be honest I haven’t been able to play vrchat for a while now well losing our house and all that jazz has happened and still haven’t found a yet thing is going on, I don’t know what has changed or what to vrchat
"It will get rid of crashers" was so BS because a large number of crashers used things added to their avatars and not client mods. It just happens that those people also had moded clients too.
Fact check: Most malicious crashes are caused by avatars with deliberately broken parameters and nonsense values, in an effort to overload users' RAM and force a crash. Mods fixed that by derendering avatars with these broken values.
Ever since the EAC update, the Linux compatibility with VRC has plummeted, last time I played it which was roughly a couple years ago because I refuse to launch it now, it was bad. I was getting roughly around 50 FPS on average, I wasn't even in the arm mode and I do not have a weak system either, RTX 2060 paired with an Intel 11th gen core i5. I know I'm into minority of people who use Linux but we really shouldn't be left in the dark considering valve has made their own Linux machine, the steam deck, and has really several desktop steam machines in the past all running Linux and there should be absolutely no reason those computers and systems are excluded from both a PC and VR game.
East Australian Current?
P. Sherman, 42 Wallaby Way Sydney?
at one side i don't mind EAC too much caus it has actually gotten rid of a lot of crashers
but on the other hand... god i miss having more than 40FPS
2:00 AM looking foR BEANS!!!
I actually like the new features added to vrchat, I know EAC sucks but for someone with autism who's a standalone questie I really needed the ear muff modes
I am glad the backlash from the community at least made them implement most features the mods had.
most features you see have originally been mods
wow lol how they just move on to the blocking feature lo
Yeah so true, I finally only starting coming back to VRChat after a year because I was so mad. Spent most of the time on ChilloutVR.
yeah, you don't want to machan VRChat in ChilloutVR, the'll get mad
As a halo mcc player who ports enemies from the avp games, if you like unmodded your losing out anyway. Have you ever used the alien vs predator block function on a halo spatran? Ever had two rifles and a handgun? Yeah, well i have, because mods. Mods make everything better unless your fetting scammed. What have we learned... dont complain about inprovments
Ignorant is not why I am angry. Someone knowing full well why they shouldn't be beefing you up over good things isn't a mistake of ignorance, don't forgive it
To be fair after EAC was introduced, my client never crashed as much as it did before. But still, I'm butthurt over their dealings, so I decided to quit using VRChat for a while.
White furry(not in a racist way) at the end: TRIGGERED
I was personally happy when they introduced EAC because before I got to use the VR equiptment I have now I had to use a Quest 2 and got crashed so often by people I had to play with max safety settings and even that didn´t always work. I kinda feel sorry for people who can´t use mods which helped them in any way but if people wouldn´t have fucked around with them, crashing people or doing other shit then they wouldn´t have had to use EAC. If someone pisses you off then mute him, block him, vote kick him out or just switch to a different lobby. Crashing people is a shitty move and I have no respect for people who do that.
The issue is that most crashes weren't even mods.
Crashers mostly used sounds or textures that would crash you, not any mod menu.
Ther will be great peace in the coming year I for see it
Can someone explain what is EAC?
i know a few avali like that one
I still see people using modded clients literally everytime im online so idk what eac was supposed to accomplish
i think what they were actually trying to do was to get more people to buy vrc +, cuz a lot of mods would let you have a ton of avatar slots
Had no idea it was that bad, yikes 😬
My account is an 'OG' account but i ddint start logging on a lot until desktop mode was introduced and refined. So i suppose you could say I wasnt exposed to much of the bullshittery back then. Further, I typically stick to private instances anyway; so this may also be a factor in why I just haven't been exposed to these toxic individuals.
I have an ideaaa😃
I remember when this first came around and I heard about it from my friends who used certain shaders on their avatars, but I didn't see how bad it was for them because I didn't even know Modding was allowed outside of avatar creation at the time and I also didn't make any avatars. While it is great that the VRChat team who brought in EAC tried to deal with most of the trolls, the fact that EAC has only temporarily slowed down the trolls whilst also almost ruining some of the avatar creators means that there should eventually be an updated version which is able to detect which things are actually problems or not. There are obvious cons about this system, and I'm not exactly sure about what the next step would be for VRChat to fix these cons. They could either revert to how things used to be with Modding but risk the increase of "cheaters" and more trolls, Or they could develop a system better than EAC that could allow moderated modding with certain limitations and/or security features to allow the community of good mods to come back and reducing the probability of the "cheats" and trolls causing more and more problems.
Hello
I am annoyed that I will likely never be able to play VRChat again because of their insistence on keeping EAC.
I am also annoyed that they got away with it, and that so many players chose to continue playing.
Edit: In my opinion, the angry character in this video is the worst kind of user. The user that recognized that the addition of EAC was wrong, and yet continued playing anyway. No backbone whatsoever to try and change anything, just a loud mouth.
Least based avali
The only thing Eac did to me was obliterated my frames, fortunately it became slight better, the only problem now is that when they’re are busy worlds I have to turn safety settings to max cause of how bad it is now
Funny thing about EAC is that people will find ways around it and it's one "anti cheat" thing that doesn't really help like VAC does it.
VAC is updated alot and always being worked on unlike EAC. Wish VRC would have done that and not add EAC because it would have helped more then they knew.
As someone who literally only uses VRchat to explore worlds on my own, I had no clue EAC was even a thing, lol. The portal thing is cool though.
the most annoying thing about eac is all the new features mods wouldve given us that we now wont ever know about cause theyre not being made anymore
I can understand the technical gripes such as EAC doing FA to stop actually harmful mods, pestering people about how 90% of all new features used to be mods isn't ok though. I'd say the dev effort into shamelessly paywalling popular requested features, whether they were mods or not, while neglecting user security is more worthy of the bemoaning.
Not to mention all the deaf people that can't use VRChat now because they were using mods that helped them use sign language based around VRC's hand movements.
You give me biiig SerpentZA vibes but focus on VRChat culture rather then China. Good work
Yeah modding was fun however also REALLY frustrating when one mod broke the rest, I'd rather it be this way around as I am tired of script kiddys and a few of my friend playing with all there mod toys and lagging others cus they wanna have fun at the expense of others.
I also don't blame company's who do this as modding use to be like "here's a silly mod, here's a feature" now its "here's something useful surrounded by TONS of malicious tools/toys"
Whenever vrchat releases something that used to be a mod and is put behind a paywall. Than i get mad and go crazy. But yeah i tend to talk about how great clients were back in the golden era.
it do be funny that they really thought eac was going to stop rippers tho lmao
Thanks to EAC VRChat is getting without ideas to be a better social game.
That's the purpose to make mods for games because thanks to those people to make mods the makers can get more ideas of how to improve the game and make it better.
Since EAC i never had more than 40fps and at least twice a month i get crashers that use clients, that might sound rare but i only log in during weekends
EAC is kernel driven I really wish people would understand the situation but whatever
EAC doesn't prevent hackers, just those that don't have the tools readily available. Not to mention 90% of crashers have their programs built *into* their avatars. Same goes for a chunk of rippers who don't know how to, or are lazy to, get around EAC.
Hell, some modders were able to get around it just fine, but stopped when the louder and larger voices said they'd cease their support for the game, like Melon.
vrchat team litterly stole stuff modders stuff lmfao
NOT being angry about EAC I think is the weirdest to me. Being overly vocal about it though... yeah, we are well beyond that and VRC isn't going to go back at this point.
EAC has had a massive impact on performance for lower end headsets since the avatar culling built into the game is far inferior to the mods that would do it for you, as well as EAC is another, non-lightweight program that is running parallel to VRC whenever its running. When I say non-lightweight I don't mean its pulling a ton of resources, its not super heavy like some claim but I would say it is about equal to a browser with 5-10 videos streaming at once, which is a bit ridiculous for an anti-cheat that... lets be honest, barely works.
I'm glad that it looked like VRC has been trying to implement most of the popular QoL mods, I just wish they were doing a better job of it.
You know If a player is going to get that mad over losing mods, I'd think they were using them for more than just for avatar cloning and were most likely one of those players that using mods just to harass other players with item magnetize and crasher mods and made VRChat add EAC in the first place, this is why we can't have nice things.😑
Easy Anti Cheat was the worst update ever
First
The only people I get really mad at are the ones who never used mods who claim VRC is "so much better now". Like ok bro, sit down. If you don't even understand the problem, you don't get an opinion.
you aren't funny
the vrchat and mod nation used to live in peace but that all changed when the EAC attacked
Complain about avatar cloning, EAC added. Mods removed due to EAC addition so no more cloning mods exist, EAC is complained about.
I'll be honest.
I have 0 sympathy for VRC players anymore.
@@Mai.CalicoTrue that it removed all of those cloning mods, issue is that a lot of handy dandy mods that WEREN’T bad got removed.
God damnit take my like
@@Mai.Calico
What?
Rippers even found a new way to rip avatars, they literally just query the VRC API now, you don't even have to be in the same lobby with them
@@GandhiTheDerg I'm pretty sure you heard me. Also that's awful. Source?
