Actually this is for minecraft fairly logical since water stops all fall damage and dripstone only doubles the fall damage so 0 x 2 =0 and lave does not interact in terms of fall damage so.

The dripstone one has some interesting possibilities when combined with water flow and dispensers. Most of all: It looks good. The Devs should think about having a temple variant with a spike trap like this.

Slimeblocks under lava might be good for a secret base entrance. Have the blocks bounce you up to an entrance in the middle of a cliff. No one will know it is there cause the slime blocks are hidden by lava.
I’m pretty sure with water you can survive in a pixel from world height. I remember dying in a one block a long time ago so I’m not sure if that’s a old feature or new one

Dripstone quadruples distance fallen in the calculation, so it's usually x4 damage, but yeah you're still right.

I just realized…. Wool is a flammable block and wood is a flammable block but when you make a bed by these two the bed is not a flammable object
you can throw a bucket in lava and it will burn away, yet when you put lava in the bucket it's safe
Same with crafting tables they catch fire but never burn
