American college football coach Ted Lasso heads to London to manage AFC Richmond, a struggling English Premier League football team.
Ted Lasso is an American sports comedy-drama television series developed by Jason Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Brendan Hunt and Joe Kelly, based on a character Sudeikis first portrayed in a series of promos for NBC Sports' coverage of England's Premier League.[2] The show follows Ted Lasso, an American college football coach who is hired to coach an English soccer team with the secret intention that his inexperience will lead it to failure, but whose folksy, optimistic leadership proves unexpectedly successful.
The first season of ten episodes premiered on Apple TV+ on August 14, 2020, with three episodes followed by weekly installments.[3] A second season of 12 episodes premiered on July 23, 2021.[4][5][6] In October 2020, the series was renewed for a third season,[7] which will premiere on March 15, 2023.[8]
The series has received critical acclaim, with particular praise for its performances (particularly Sudeikis, Hannah Waddingham, and Brett Goldstein), humor, writing, themes, and uplifting tone. Among other accolades, its first season was nominated for 20 Primetime Emmy Awards, becoming the most nominated first-season comedy in Emmy Award history. Sudeikis, Waddingham and Goldstein won for their performances, and the series won the 2021 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Comedy Series. Sudeikis also won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Television Series Musical or Comedy and the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series.

Fun fact: Dr. Sharon Fieldstone is named after Dr. Marsha Fieldstone, who Tom Hanks talks to at the beginning of "Sleepless in Seattle". In addition, this episode coincidentally released around the 2021 Summer Olympics, where gymnast Simone Biles developed her own case of the yips, prompting discussions of mental health in sports in real life. Uncanny!
Is this the same Simone Biles who crumbled under the pressure of having nobody close to her own level of ability?
A pundit is basically another word for a commentator… someone who talks about something on TV, so they were saying he could commentate matches. Many athletes become commentators/pundits for their sport when they retire based on the idea that their personal experience and skill gives them better ability to analyze what’s happening and tell the general audience about it.

Some context; 'the yips' is a sports medicine term. It refers to second-guessing yourself and making mistakes. It usually happens after a blowout loss[e.g. 2-10, when you were favored to win] or an all-star player makes a critical mistake and can't get back in rhythm with the team.
When this episode first premiered, I said, "You know this show is beloved because they killed a dog and NO ONE IS MAD AT IT." I mean, we were sad. But usually dog death is EVIL. There's even an entire website dedicated to spoiling if a dog dies in a movie so people can avoid watching it! But we gave Ted a pass because we knew he would heal us. 😁

I'm so looking forward to seeing this all with you. I've been waiting to see Season 3 but seeing loads of spoilers. I'll start it once I catch up on season 2 with you so im all good on what happened and where we're at.
Dani says it funny but it's probably an allusion to a famous remark "Football is the most important of the least important things in life", as in to remind himself that though the game means a lot - some would say life and death - to everyone involved, it's also just a game.
I hadn't made that connection tbh, that's a great shout. He's not quite worded it that way. I think there's Bill Shankly saying 'some say football is a matter of life and death. I assure them it is much more than that'

This has to be the best season of television ive ever seen. Season 2 of Ted Lasso is immaculate television. Secondly, I think you’ll understand why most people don’t want Ted and Rebecca together later on… 😉

I would have immediately hated Rebecca's fella. Any person who supports whoevers winning and thinks about elbowing a man as adorable as Martin Short is someone I have no time for
