Question about King making. Why would it be considered King making for him to exile his Thassa? I agree that it seems *very likely* that he'd lose if he exiles it. But it seems *guaranteed* that he loses unless he does something to stop the win attempt that is currently on the stack. Thus it seems to me that exiling his Thassa actually "increases his chances of winning" because he doesn't immediately lose... Wouldn't that be the optimal play and therefore not king making?

Cameron could have denied to search with his ranger captain and not given higher the esper sentinel. People often forget that the creature tutors (except for imperial recruiter) are may abilities.
Isn't it to late if he has already decided to search and then the player flashes in. You would have to make that declaration when the trigger goes on the stack. It always gives the agent player

Would love to see a more mid-rangey list from Ikra/Bruse. I could be wrong, but it seems like the deck needs a little set up via Ikra or Bruse padding the life total. Adding some stax creatures could buy the time needed. IDK though.
Can't see Scoots list right now (the decklists link gave me a 404) but, I might have probably tried the good ol' smash or smash. Now, that was what I felt in that moment. Right now, I completely agree with the explanation of why Scoots simply accepted defeat and didn't go on. The game was FANTASTIC.. A gem. Also, yeah, in general sacrificing the Ranger-Captain would have been the correct choice, but who does remember the existence of Commandeer? XD In general, not even in casual we remember that card XD

I've heard this go both ways, when you deck people with kenrith or like altars of dementia, some people say the loss comes when you force a draw that they can not complete bc they're out of cards, other people say that even if you force a billion draws they can whiff, and the loss comes on the draw step of their upkeep. I don't understand the logic behind the second scenario in modern magic. We die instantly when we hit zero, not a status check at a certain point in the batch or whatever it was before the stack was introduced. With that logic I think we should lose when we fail to draw any point, not just an upkeep draw. We can still deck ourselves by drawing too many cards, right?
Sorry for a kind of amateur question. I was a magic kid in the 90's before the internet so kitchen table ingrained all sorts of stupid and incorrect rulings. Plus I smoke a bunch of weed, so I get the finer points of the stack all ass backwards.
@@PlaytoWinMTG that isn't like unique to C/EDH or anything? i've been playing with some hardcore modern players at a new for me store and their styles are very different from the other commander players i've met. some of the rulings made no sense to me and make me doubt my knowledge, like this example. i was pretty positive it was on the failed draw. maybe it's the store's house rule or something because it was a really weird situation when it happened. it's a weird environment. the store is known for modern and they just started commander nights. they are pretty competitive but they are the sorest losers. i had them beat on the stack with an infinite sac combo and they spent over 20 minutes trying to analyze any way out of the loss, and come up with these theoretical solutions that they either didn't have the cards for or enough mana. they even called the pseudo store judge over and spent even more time analyzing and arguing over how to stop it. i'm all for learning to be the best players we can be, but this was ridiculous. (if you made it this far, here's some fanboy praise: i LOVE how rapid fire paced your games are, the editing is awesome.)
I like the idea of Ikra/Bruse MAN. it might be better to nab some really good creature based stax like tymna/kodama and use Ad naus, peer, and bolas citadel as big boy wins after gaining a lot of life with cards like serra ascendant for life and tymna for value. Call the deck ikruiser bruiser.

Out of curiosity, there seem to be a lot of win-cons based off activated or triggered abilities in cEDH, is it ever worth running any sort of Stifle effects? I never see any in the decklists of cEDH decks.
I hear a lot of don’t feed the fish but no one says do not pay the extortionist. I think it’s gonna be sad when it gets banned but I don’t think they will ban it till after commander legends 2 because they want the reprint to help boost sales.
I feel like the ikra turbo ad naus deck is just better with tymna.sure youdont get red but the card advantage from tymna is so valuable, and like you said you can be more grindy if you need to be.

Bro I am so confused with how ninjutsu works. I understand the ninjutsuing out yuriko after damaged delt because the condition has been met. But how can the student be ninjusu'd out. It enters tapped and attacking even after damage delt? it is automatically assigned as an unblocked attacker? If you didn't ninjutsu it out would it just be tapped and attacking but assign no combat damage? This card game does my head in.
I know cards like Test of Endurance and the "If you have...you win " cards aren't usually in CEDH. But would it be good in like Ikra or a high life gain deck? Or just taking a spot from a better card?

So why does ephemerate work against deadly rollick? Way I see it. Deadly rollick targets opposition agent then ephemerate on the stack. Agent creature goes take a piss at exile then comes back to field THEN rollick resolves and says oh you made me wait go back to exile and stay there now.
Wait unless you trying to tell me that when a creature goes to exile then comes back to field it’s “treated as a different creature” it’s not the same creature that went to exile and is why deadly rollick had nothing to hit? “I’ve never actually played magic before”
Once the creature is exiled from Ephemerate, since it leaves the battle field, rollick loses it’s target (even just for a second), so it fizzles and does not resolve

Higher owns the oppo agent, so it flickers back under his control. He can still cast Cams exiled Esper Sentinel, because the ability of oppo agent allows him to do so, no matter what happens to the agent.

general consensus is that it's too narrow and it doesnt help you win the game. but you can try it!

Ranger captain search is a “may”. Once you see the oppo agent, you can always decline to search.
But couldn't you just wait for them to declare they will use it and then flash in opp agent?

Doesn't the deadly rollick against the op agent work out? Ephemerate blinks the creature immediately not at end of turn.
It becomes a different target when it returns, so the deadly rollick is no longer pointing at it
Also, OP would've went back to Cameron's battlefield.

Opposition agent clearly states you may play it for as long as it remains exiled. Opposition agent being in play is not a requirement
@@dantemalick2872 yeah, I originally thought the ability was stapled to opposition agent, but you're right- the cast-ability is imprinted on the exiled card, not on opposition agent.
