Hear me out: Skunks They're basically emo cats with even fluffier tails and built-in patterns. You can do striped, spotted, hooded. A whole lot of pattern variety. And honestly, they're very underrated as they're often seen as dirty, but skunks are actually surprisingly clean most of the time.
I've said it once, I'll say it again. Sheep! I don't see a lot of us, but we're so FLUFFY! We're perfect for cuddles! And those of us with horns... Let's just say there are multiple uses for those.
What about striped hyenas, brown hyenas, or aardwolves? There's already plenty of spotted hyenas in the fandom, but the other yeens are underrepresented. (definitely biased, btw.)

Ones I haven’t seen nearly at all is sea slugs in general! I bared my current fursona off of the Blue Sea Dragon. I think there’s a lot of potential with the uniqueness and variety of marine Gastropods!
I’ve seen a couple of bug-based fursonas here and there, but I’d still absolutely love to see more weevil and ant sonas!! I also think paper wasps would make sick sonas too honestly!

A skilled designer would be able to make chameleon characters easy to identify even when they're changing colors.
Me and my bestie (both Pieces) did fish sonas to match our star sign! I have a really good tip for making a customized sona: Find information about your birth items (animal, color, gemstone, flower, etc.) Use these to make your sona! Mine would be: A pale blie and deep cyan fish with little accessories made of aquamarine and named "Dandelion!"
I’m an otter. It was honestly a no-brainer for me and I was even using one to represent myself well before I started calling myself a furry. It’s my favorite animal and a childhood nickname that I kept all that time, so it felt natural.
I currently still designongy fursona and I'm planning on having it as a dragon shark, I was originally going to have it be a western dragon but I've changed my mind and I'm having the dragon be a eastern one thanks to this video :D

They’re just small but fierce little green dudes that had oddly cute eyes and have small little cutesy but strong arms. A devil of my own making. We even have the same Latin and sigil tattoos, and Victorian & rivethead gothic attire. Although in their case, sans the trousers, because FREE THE CROTCH. In societally acceptable ways, of course.
I've got the idea of a fluffy frilled shark sona. He is very fluffy, loves snoot pets, and has demonic teeths that makes it hard to smile and get a positive reaction despite his adorable floofy, sharky self.
One of my favorite characters is a eastern black and white dragon. He has a huge, zebra style mane and those little whiskers. Then his brother is more fluffy, still black and white but more black. So freaking cute.
