That's why the outcome is the positive combination of LSZ is of his two dads.
LWJ was a great dad to him- you can see how well-rounded he is- kind, thoughtful and generous. LWJ wouldn't have doted on him but obviously had a soft spot for him- giving him the lantern, telling him to rest. Wish we could've gotten a flashback of his upbringing with LWJ. I bet he got cuddles, smiles and gentle taps on the head because he has so much warmth and light about him.

I remember thinking Lan Sizhui was so sweet in the first few episodes and then when we find out who he is in the present I started crying. He's such a perfect kid and it's all because he had two great dads who didn't project any of their own issues onto him.

Shizui is indeed lan Zhan's love letter to wei wuxian, that day he took in ayuan he made sure he will grow up happy and strong, giving him his last name, raising him with no hate in his heart... At some way shizui eases lan Zhan's lonely heart as well, protecting ayuan making lan Zhan feel like he is protecting wei ying last memory, loving him is like sharing a love with his beloved wei ying...lan Zhan has no plan of letting him go,and shizui is his way of saying that, hoping one day wei ying will return even in spirit knowing that one of things he tried to protect is now safe and living being one of the best cultivator in the lan family, with no hate, everyone loves him, still maintaining his innosense and smile, just how you left him, I would really want 1 episode about Shizui being raised by lan Zhan...

I told myself to not be invested in the show, so, while waiting for the new episodes to come out, I went to the novel, which, I told myself don't become even more invested in these characters. 2 more months, and it'll be a year from the original release of CQL, and I still cry when LSZ holds his leg at the end; I still cry thinking about JC and WWX's sacrifice for each other; I still cry when I think about how lonely JL must be; I still cry when I think about WN and as soon as his song comes through on the OST, his poem comes to mind, my tears become uncontrollable; I still cry when I think about LZ and what he put himself through during the years of trying to search for WWX's soul while knowing as the years go by, the hopes of finding gets thinner and thinner because of reincarnation, but that the search and raising LSJ was his only pillar to continue.

We need a side story of how lanzhan rescued sizhui, raise him. I bet he had to hide sizhui with the rabbits for months after weiying died, because he were getting his 3months punishment. And he probably begs his brother to keep sizhui in lan clan. Those painful 16years, worth as a side story. How he would buy a jar of wine everytime he pass one, keep it for weiying. How he would travel all over to find him, cause he believe he isn't dead. I think sizhui is one of the reason lanzhan keep living aside from the hope to find weiying, cause that boy is the last memory they had together.

I only now just grasped the fact that, within hours of encountering each other, Sizhui protects his adoptive father twice. First, from getting kicked in the back, and second from getting cracked over the head by a piece of wood. And I know he would do that for anyone (because he's best boi), but there's just something so poignant about it, knowing the context.

One thing i love about the juniors is how they admire, respect and love Wei Ying. They have more common sense and courage than their own clan seniors/parents/relatives. Also big props to Lan Zhan raising the Lan youngsters in a more relaxed manner. He understood that a fierce way of education is not the best and that the kids might end up being like him before meeting Wei Ying. We can say that Wei Ying did change and broadened Lan Zhan's view and perception on life, cultivation and so on. Wei Ying fully deserves his title of Patriarch - master in cultivation - father figure - protector of people.
