  • This podcast reveals the terrible knowledge base revealed by the PGC board of commissioners regarding changing the successful Monday after Thanksgiving opening day of rifle deer to the Saturday prior. Many of their comments are grossly inaccurate and have proven out to be wrong over the 3 year test period. Hunters need to hear these comments and thus our title: "Who Are These People?"

    Interesting you point out that camp is only 25-30% of the hunting population. Your opinion continues to ignore the 70-75% of non camp hunters.

    I think the game commissioners should have to be at the Harrisburg outdoor show and answer questions there.

    This video and it’s producers completely ignore the indisputable FACT that despite any skepticism hunters held 2 years prior to changing opening day to Saturday, actual independent, scientific study after the change have showing it is favored 2-1 over
    Monday.

      Last time I checked, that’s still more than 2018….

    You all continue to question a persons motivation for having the Saturday opener but Dan you state you live in Ohio. Isn’t your personal motivation that you are afraid that PAs success with the Saturday opener going to have OHio consider changing?

    If your waiting until the weekend before opening day to place a tree stand, shoot your gun, or take someone into the woods.... thats your dumb fault! I have been scouting the woods since April, taking my mentored hunter with me each time, and shoot my guns on the regular.

    I continue to see comments from hunters opposing the Monday Opening that the PGC shouldn't be concerned with private businesses or economic factors. What a short sighted opinion. The future of Hunting is directly tied to purse strings whether you like it or not. Economic factors such as the Pittman-Robertson and supporting/sustaining businesses makes it important to society. If you allow anti-hunting groups to attack the importance of Hunting to the economy, they will win.

    • @patrickcoleman4348
      @patrickcoleman4348 Před rokem +1

      The economic factors within PGC purview is License sales. External concerns are not.
      No one, not Dan, not Randy, has quantified this alleged “economic impact”… no discussion of whether it is a shift in spending from one business to another, or a complete drop in spending.
      Hunters still need to eat, maintain gear, buy ammo, and all the accompanying items for their hunts. The money is being spent. The change it back to Monday crowd is basically saying “because of these unquantified, undocumented small businesses we claim were hurt, all 853,000 hunters should give up Saturday and Sunday after thanksgiving, whether they were even part of the groups originally supporting these unquantified, undocumented businesses in the first place…. because we choose not to support them, even though we could.”

      The future of hunting is the kids and getting them more opportunities, not old, fat guys in camp

    • @dmontrose7446
      @dmontrose7446 Před rokem

      @mikewilson6393 correct and existing hunters raise future hunters. Doesn't matter if they are fat, slim, young, old, kids, grandkids, male, female, etc. Allowing post Thanksgiving time to address hunter learning and education is important. Camp or not.

    • @dmontrose7446
      @dmontrose7446 Před rokem

      @patrickcoleman4348 they did provide multiple actual business owners with real life testimonials of how much their businesses have been impacted. You semi missed my point - keep hunting vital to Maximum economic factors and hunting will continue. Thus, The PGC will continue.
